Journals and Training
June 8
Owen
Location: Abandoned Warehouse, Violet City
It's only been a mere day since Raina and I have battled Ho-Oh and Lugia and awakened our powers, and let's just say we're learning how to use our powers with the help of my dad's and Raina's dad's journal.
BOOM!
Or badly trying to. I turned around to see my best friend, writing an account in her journal. "You okay, Rain?" Raina looked at me, putting her journal away. "Yeah, I am," She twirled her index finger as a sliver of water started to wrap around it. "I actually have something to show you." "Really? What?" I asked.
Raina smiled, getting up. "Watch," She started to sprint towards me and then all of a sudden, she appeared right next to me. A cloud of mist appeared where she once was. "What do you think, Owen?" She asked.
"But—what—How?" I asked. I was confused and speechless. Raina laughed, taking a seat next to me. "I was skimming over the journal and I found something about speed and evasion," She got the journal out. "While I was reading, Lugia told me that we just need to focus on our feet and let our powers do the rest. You just combine your speed with your power. Try it. All you have to do is look where you want to go, and focus on your feet."
"Listen to your girlfriend, boy," A women's voice said in my head. Unfortunately, I knew who this was. "She's not my girlfriend, Ho-Oh!" I shot back. "Yeah, yeah, she's Silver Dragon's Patron, your best friend, blah blah. But, listen to her." I sighed. I was not getting used to a Legendary Pokemon talking inside of my head.
I spotted a table and started to run towards it. As I was running, smoke and ash engulfed me and I appeared next to the table. I looked back to see a pile of smoke and ash where I once was, next to Raina, who gave me a thumbs-up. "Great job, Owen!" I grinned. "Thanks!" I walked back to her. "What else is in the journal?"
-X-
We spent the next to hours learning how to use our powers and reading the journals before feeling that we both reached our limits and called it a day, going back to the Pokemon Center to rest up for tomorrow.
Raina went straight into the shower as soon as we went inside our room while I sat on my bed, skimming through my father's journal, reading an account about Patrons and each of their unique powers and skills. "Wow, Dad knew a lot about Patrons..." I thought. "Of course he did," Ho-Oh said. "After all, your father was my former Patron."
My eyes widened. "Wait, my dad was a Patron?! Your Patron?! And what do you mean by 'former'?!" I asked. "He was my Patron before he was killed. He wanted you to be his successor, but you were too young, so he decided to destroy his Item of Power so that it would return to me. I decided to test you on whether you were worthy of my power or not," Ho-Oh explained. "Guess it wasn't the latter."
"So that's why he went to Johto most of the time," I realized. According to the journal, some Patrons tended to stay local to their Legendary's native region while others go on journeys or start teams. "Yes, that is why he was mostly in Johto," Ho-Oh said. "I was going to tell you this when you were more used to your powers, but oh well."
I was about to respond back until Raina came out of the shower, wearing a tank top and shorts. "Bathroom's free." I got up. "Oh. Okay." Raina walked up to the bed and sat next to me. "You okay, Owen?" You got that look on your face again." "What look." I asked.
My best friend laughed, and then grew serious. "You know, the face you make whenever you're seriously thinking about something. Anything on your mind?" I shook my head. "Nah, I must've had my head in the clouds again." I gave out a short laugh, scratching the back of my neck.
Raina smirked, flicking the side of my head. "Yeah, you do that a lot, airhead." I laughed at her. "Um, you're the Patron of a Flying-Type Pokemon, Rain," I said. "You're the definition of an airhead." My friend rolled her crimson eyes. "Whatever, you wild birdbrain."
I bit my tongue. She got me there. "So, um, did Lugia tell you anything?" Raina shrugged. "Eh...not that much. I guess he talks when he wants to," She looked at the journal. "Find anything?" "Not really..." I skimmed through it. "We already know that there are other Patrons and we all meet each other at the Tree of Beginning every solstice and equinox," I closed the journal. "But we don't have to worry about anything now." Raina nodded. "You're right about that. But, there's still one thing left for you to do..." She looked at me, her face a mix of seriousness and humor. "Go take a shower, Owen. You stink even worse than a group of Stunky." "I hate you." I growled, running to the bathroom as Raina laughed her ass off.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poor Owen. Raina always gets the last laugh out of both of them.
Anyways, I began shipping Raina and Owen (Who hasn't?), but... I don't know what to name the ship!!! Someone, PLEASE give me a shipping name soon.
Next Chapter: One year has passed after Owen and Raina became Patrons and awakened their powers. Luckily for them, they haven't been found out, killed, or kidnapped. But will all of that changed at Ho-Oh's Festival in Ecruteak City?
OrigamiLantern11, lights out!!
