A Soul of Silver

Previously...with Raina...

Location: Whirl Islands

I got off of Flygon and returned him into his Poke Ball. I looked forward with my Plusle, who was on my shoulder. I'm finally here.

The Whirl Islands.

I held my breath and went inside the cavern. Let's do this. I'm going to see Lugia. And I'll do whatever it takes.

-X-

Even though I never went inside the cavern, I had this feeling of where to go. I looked around. It was completely dark, but Plusle used Flash to lighten the cavern up. I saighed, walking forward.

When it felt like I walked for about ten minutes, I found a brown journal with a cherry blossom on it as well as a silver feather and a bell. The front of the journal said: Property of Leo Kai and his descendants.

Kai...wait. That's Owen's last name! My eyes widened at the book. It wasn't any journal. It's Owen's! (Technically his dad's). But why would someone hide a journal here? I shook the question off, and put journal in my bag. I stuck the feather in my hair and the bell in my pocket and continued my journey deeper into the cavern. There's more things to find here. I noticed a ladder and started climbing down with with Plusle still on my shoulder since it's still dark in here. Let's go.

-X-

After getting deeper and deeper into the cavern, I found myself in front of five Kimono Girls and a rushing waterfall behind them. The one in the middle started to speak.

"You must be the girl Lugia was talking about. This is where we welcome the Diving Pokemon himself. When the dance we practiced for days becomes one with the Tidal Bell you have found, the Lugia shall come out from deep from deep within the waterfall basin once again!"

Suddenly, the silver bell that I kept in my pocket flew out and started to ring. The Kimono Girls started to dance to the sound of the bell and the rushing waterfall behind them. Silver cherry blossom petals and lanterns lit the dark cavern up.

Just then, the whole cavern shook as a shadow appeared behind the rushing waterfall. The shadow flew out out the waterfall in a blur of silver, white, and blue, letting out an ear-piercing screech before landing over the lake, flapping his wings. Lugia.

I gasped. "That's-" The Kimono Girl nodded. "That is indeed Lugia. The guardian of these islands from ancient times..." She looked at the Diving Pokemon. "So many have tried again and again, only to fail..." She then looked at me. "Your heart in complete harmony with the Tidal Bell has finally allowed him appeared...don't you see, girl? Lugia...he must have been waiting for someone like you all this time. Wouldn't you agree?"

I slowly walked towards Lugia and looked him in the the eye. The Diving Pokemon did the same with me. Right now, I finally knew what Lugia wanted from me. A battle.

I released all eight of my Pokemon, all of them wearing a face of determination on them. Lugia probably knew that I understood, because it sent a swift white orb of air at me and my Pokemon. My Plusle jumped onto my shoulder as I started giving orders.

Even though I was scared, I didn't hesitate. "Swampert, Mud Shot! Glaceon, hit that ball of air back with Iron Tail!" My Glaceon's tail glowed silver as it hit the ball of air in the water, making a huge splash, while Swampert shot mud ball after mud ball at Lugia, who swiftly dodged, sendinga blast of air at Absol, before Lucario knocked it back with Bone Rush, adding an Aura Sphere with it as Flygon hit Lugia in the back with Earth Power, causing the Diving Pokemon to screech, sending a jet of scalding water, burning most of my team.

"Everyone alright?!" I yelled. Plusle tapped me on the shoulder while my Pokemon tried to get up. I looked at Plusle. "What is it, Plus?" My Pokemon pointed at herself, and then pointed at Lugia. "You want me to throw you up?" The Cheering Pokemon nodded. I nodded back, grabbing Plusle's tiny hands as we swung around.  "3...2...1...Now!" I threw her up. "Use Thunderbolt!"

Plusle obeyed, shocking Lugia with a strong lightning bolt. Then' she used Double Team and launched out various attacks on the Diving Pokemon while I got my Glaceon out. Plusle was only distracting Lugia so I could hit him with a super effective attack. "Let's finish this off," I said. "Glaceon, Ice Beam!" The Fresh Snow Pokemon shot an icy blue beam from her mouth and right at Lugia's weak spot, causing him to shriek, lose balance, and land in front of me. Plusle came back onto my  shoulder, nuzzling her cheek against mine as Lugia got up. Both of us stared at each other in silence and wonder. My hand went to my belt, just in case if Lugia is still in the mood to battle. But he just looked at me and let out a soft cry.

Suddenly, a flash of silver light came between Lugia and I. When the light faded, there was a cherry blossom hair clip encrusted with rubies, glowing with a silver aura whenever the light hit it. Lugia looked at me, then the hair clip, and then back to me.

"You...want me to have it?" I asked. The Legendary Diving Pokemon smiled, nodding. I slid the hair clip into my hair, pushing my left most bangs behind my ear. Lugia then raised his wings up and disappeared back into the waterfall basin.

"Amazing." I turned to see the Kimono Girls walking towards me. The middle one spoke like always. "Not only did you make Lugia appear, you became his Patron as well." "Lugia's Patron?" I asked.

"You defeated Lugia in battle. In return, Lugia gave you his powers of water and air by giving you that hair clip, his Item of Power. Legendary Pokemon have Patrons to avoid getting caught and to maintain balance in the world. All you have to do is defeat a Legendary Pokemon and hope that it doesn't have a Patron yet." I looked at the hair clip. "So I can control water and air?" The Kimono Girl nodded. "Only a little bit. If you train harder, you will become stronger. Just make sure you don't surpass your limit. You can sense other Patrons, and the journal you found will help you," She smiled. "My sisters and I wish you good luck on your journey now as a Patron, young one."

By the time she finished, we were out of the cavern. I thanked the Kimono Girls and got on my Flygon, flying back to Goldenrod City in the starry night sky. Owen must be back from Ecruteak City by now. I guess I'm a Patron now, huh? I heard a voice in my head. Don't make me regret this. I smiled. I won't, Lugia. You can bet on it.
