A historic founding family with no living members.

They had been feuding with the Nankis over power and loyalties; it probably didn't help matters that both families were known for feats of strength and fighting prowess, though the Nankis are rumored to have augmented their skills with magic somehow, likely through the aid of their ally, the Nahlstroms. The Nahans' greatest ally was their fellow tydring family, the Lorandts.

One night, both the Nahans and Lorandts disappeared.

The sole witness of the events, a young scullery maid with a reputation for trysting, as well as drinking, claims the joint families assembled in the basement of the Nahan house and summoned a dragon-like demon, which then killed them. The lack of evidence of their deaths leads most to believe she was drunk when she saw the supposed demon-summoning ritual.

The fact remains that no one in either household, including the servants, were ever seen again.
