#58: Let's Play Pretend (Part 2)
~8 months later~
*Y/N's P. O. V.
I never expected this thing to be so successful. No one questioned it and everyone is actually on board with this ship. It has been 8 months and we manage to show the world that we are now a couple and continuously maintain that facade. Patrick and I are really doing a great job at this being in love with each other thing.
"These are such good photos, I'm even finding myself saying 'aww' at them. We look so in love," I told Patrick as I scrolled down on my Instagram after searching the hashtag of our shipname. There are so many good photos here from fans that shows a genuine connection between me and Patrick. I honestly don't know how we do these kinds of looks at each other.
"You know, sometimes I believe those pictures are from an alternate reality where we really are in love. I mean, just look at it, I'm even believing it now even if I know it's not true," Patrick chuckled. He was sitting on the other couch across me, also going through his phone. We're currently traveling on a tour bus since I currently have a short tour with him in several states.
We've been spending a lot of time with each other since the contract signing and thankfully, nothing has changed. There is no awkwardness between us and we're both going with the flow. Every time we find ourselves in public, it's like someone is flicking a switch and we instantly become that 'power couple' - sweet and practically just in love with each other.
We do it with no difficulty and I still feel no sort of tension. It was really just a job in my eyes and I'm glad it's the same thing for him as well. We find no problems acting like that in public, even the hugs and kisses that we share were not a problem. It's like a normal thing between us and we still continue to be good friends and colleagues.
We continued to talk about the pictures. I even walked up to him to show what I've found. It's not that we're laughing at our fans for being so gullible to believe this, we're just amazed at how well this turned out.
"You're only looking at the surface, wait till you see the fanfics about us," Patrick said as I sat beside him.
"No way, have you read some?" I asked in curiosity.
"I shouldn't but curiosity got the better of me so I did. I'm telling you, some of these are something else. They really have wild imaginations," Patrick replied, inching closer to me then giving me his phone to show some of the stories.
"Well, kudos to their creative minds. This takes talent too!" I said and we both laughed.
As we continued to browse through these stories, the more flustered we get at these suggestive prompts. We laugh once in a while but the blush on our cheeks never disappeared. It's not because we feel something for each other, but it's just generally because of the very explicit content we're reading.
We often spend our time together like this, just chilling and laughing at the stupid things we've brought up. We also became so comfortable with each other too like right now where I'm already laying my head down on his lap while using his phone to read. We're not afraid and awkward to get this close to each other and I also can say that we're now familiar with each other's touch. I really do trust him too.
Our talk and laughs continued as I'm now comfortably laying there next to him. I'm finding his hands and fingers running through my hair as if he's playing with it as we talk. These are all normal to us now, we've been doing these things for almost 8 months. I'm actually impressed by how we both stayed calm through it, but I intend to keep it that way.
*Patrick's P. O. V.*
Y/N has been the best person that I have worked with other than my bandmates. We just meet halfway in terms of all our projects and it's so refreshing when everything works out perfectly like this. We help each other grow in so many ways and the best thing of all is there are no romantic feelings and commitment attached to it.
I often get so stressed when working with another female artist because of all the rumors it will bring up, but now, everything is in control and I'm very much enjoying it this way. We're doing our thing, we're being the best at what we do, and there are no strings attached. What more can I ask?
Currently, my band is on another short break since we just finished our Mania tour, but I was quick to jump in with Y/N's small project. We fully collaborated on this one and create an Extended Play record and now we're on a short tour. I can say that this is very different from my kind of tour because her show really gives off the party and rave vibe, but I learned to enjoy it too. I'm also very satisfied with the music we created and it shows that we really are a 'power couple'.
We're now headed to the next show, but I had to stop by at the recording studio to finalize a score that I agree to create for a little horror film. It was an unconventional remake of the TV show 'The Banana Splits'. Someone had an awesome idea of remaking it as a horror movie and now, here I am, creating a score for it. I've always wanted to do this and I'm glad I accepted the job.
We stopped by the recording studio a few hours ago and since I had to make final adjustments, I requested a couple of more hours to stay. I'm now pulling up an all-nighter just to finish this scary score and I'm practically alone at this recording studio.
Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrating as it received a text from someone.
'Hey, you doing okay there? Need some coffee?' It read, I looked at the sender's name - Patrick's Girlfriend.
I chuckled when I saw the name, Y/N and I made that our contact names as a funny inside joke. It was childish but it really is funny to us. My name on her contact is Y/N's Boyfriend to partner it with this.
'I actually do, but don't go for it if it's a bother,' I replied. She and the other crew we have are staying in the busses which are parked outside.
'Nah, be there in 10 mins,' she texted again and an idea popped into my head.
I've been so anxious about this score that I created and was actually beginning to ask myself if I did a great job of creating fear with this. No one, except Pete, has heard this and I actually need more proof that this is something scary.
I smirked at my idea and began to set up the speakers around this one room. After doing so, I searched for a hiding spot while holding the remote and wait for Y/N to come. I know this is kind of mean, but I mean no harm and I just want to see her genuine reaction too. It'll just be a test if my music is effective, besides I'd stop the moment I scare her too much.
Finally, the door to the room opened and Y/N walked in with a cup of coffee on her hand, "'Trick?" she called out when she realized I wasn't there. She put the coffee down on top of the table and I stayed silent for a while. Slowly but surely, I started the music, but it's still playing on a very low volume.
"Patrick? Where are you?" she asked and suddenly jumped when the music started. She chuckled nervously and started to look around the room, I could clearly see her from my hiding spot, "Patrick, there's no one else in this whole floor and I'm scared of being alone.....stop playing with me," she's making her voice sound playful but I could see her getting scared.
I made the music louder and louder, the intense part of it building up, "Okay, that is fucking terrifying, " she commented, she's full-on alert now. I'm impressed she's not the type to just run off, it shows that she knows to handle herself which is admirable because as far as I know if I'm in her shoes, I would have sprinted off already.
The music continued and the climax of the soundtrack finally came on. I'm going for a nerve-racking vibe for this one as if someone is chasing you and ready to maul you alive and I think it worked because Y/N is looking so anxious now, "Stump, I swear to god. I'm already scared...this song is sick and
"HEY!" I jumped out of my hiding spot when she has her back on me and the moment I did, she screamed bloody murder and squatted down to curl up.
I chuckled with a lot of guilt and worry that I overdid it. I immediately turned off the music and pulled her into my arms, hugging her from behind, "Oh no, I'm sorry. It's me...You're okay, I'm sorry," I murmured, laughing nervously and running my hands on her back. She was shaken up with my sudden appearance and now had her palms covering her whole face. I helped her up, not stopping to say sorry and feeling nervous that she's going to be really mad.
"I actually hate you for that," she finally faced me and said that in a defeated and shaky manner. She wasn't mad, in fact, she just looked like a little girl that lost in a game. She even has a playful frown which I find rather cute.
"Aww, I'm sorry," I said in guilt and instinctively pulled her in again for a hug so I can stabilize her. This is the least thing I can do for now for tormenting her with that. Y/N chuckled shakily while we hug.
"That's honestly one of the most terrifying music I've ever heard. You really have a mad talent, but I still hate you for scaring the shit out of me," she said the moment I let go of her.
"I'm really sorry, Y/N and yeah that was mean of me and I'm sorry, but now I got the confirmation that I did pretty great on the score, right?" I asked with a wide innocent smile at her while we're face to face. She, then, gently flicked her finger on my forehead while laughing. She always does that when I'm teasing her, it never hurt and I think she never meant it to hurt, it's just a distinct mannerism of hers that is quite cute.
"Just finish up with it so we can go back to the bus before I loose my heart here from being scared," she replied.
"Well, help me finish it up? You can criticize it all you want since I did this to you. Don't hold back any judgment," I took her hand, again, instinctively, and we made our way to the recording area.
"Oh come on, scaring me or not, I'm sure I will not have any kind of criticism with this. Everything you do is perfect," she commented.
By now, I'm really happy that she's the one I'm working with.
