#57: Let's Play Pretend (Part 1)

*Y/N's P. O. V.*

"So, do you have any questions about the contract Ms. Y/L/N and Mr. Stump?" the talent manager asked us after the allotted time she gave us to read the whole contract.

Everything on it seems fair and well-explained. I actually can't believe that they've already perfected contracts like this. It seems so wrong, well, it is WRONG but they made it sound so professional, like it's really just work.

"Shockingly, no. Everything I need to know seems to be in this contract already," Patrick Stump, who was sitting next to me, said.

"Yeah, I agree. So, where do we sign?" I asked casually.

Everything seems normal in this conference room, it's just like we're signing to create a new collaborative album...but no. This contract particularly says that we have to be a couple to the public eye. A more professional and formal 'play-pretend' game.

The talent manager points to the blank spaces and both Patrick and I signed like it's not a big deal. All of our handlers have been discussing this for so long and finally, it happened. It didn't bother me, it never actually did because I know this kind of stuff happens in this industry.

The moment I became one of the first female DJ that got into the mainstream top charts, this is one of the first things I learned. In this industry - music or acting - things like this happens all the time. It's to create drama and noise in our names. It's definitely not a good thing to do, but it became the norm and who are we to question it?

"We hope this works out well for the both of you. You two actually seems like a power couple," the talent manager said and both Patrick and I chuckle.

We've been friends for a good amount of time, I've actually helped them in some of their song on their latest album - Mania and it shows. My future bass and trap music is heavily heard on one of the tracks and we both indeed work well. It's something new, but it worked, I guess. We have the same interest on things - music, movies, random stuff in general. We've hang out for a couple of times and I think that's the reason why our managers thought of this. The fans have caught up with our collaborations too and was beginning to ship us and viola, now we're here.

But I must say, there never were any 'tension' or 'love' or 'flirting' with all those hang outs. It's genuinely just because we enjoy the same things together. Yeah, the guy is an all-in-one package and I know thousands of girls are head over heels for him, but for now, I'm not one of those. I'm not into anyone and I don't plan on feeling things for now. He's just really someone that I enjoy to be with so this contract doesn't faze me at all and I know it's the same thing for him.

*Patrick's P. O. V. *

I never thought that I'd be in this position, but I guess, there's no backing up now.

Honestly, I'm not that worried, the only thing I'm a little guilty about is lying to our fans. But on the other hand, I think Y/N and I can pull this off perfectly. It'll just be an experience for us and our fandoms.

I've met Y/N last year when she was only starting. Her growth in the industry is absoloutely amazing and I'm happy that I got to see her grow like this, I'm also honored that she has an influence on our latest album.

We immediately became good friends and that was that. Our fans, for some reason, just shipped us one day which gave our managers this idea. It's kinda funny, they're so romantics that they're the ones doing it for us.

I never thought of this honestly. I never felt any kind of tension with Y/N and with anyone for that matter. For now, I'm just tired of it and didn't want to be serious...well, I guess I'll never be after all those shitty relationships I had before. I had nothing to lose here, so I jumped it. I guess it'll be fun playing pretend with Y/N too. She seems excited about it and I'm happy to say that it's not on a serious manner too. I know she has no such feelings for me as well so this will just be fun.

Our meeting continued. After the formalities, we began just to joke around on how to go about this. It really did became the norm and no one is bothered by it. Well, I guess as long as we don't have any ill-intent, it will be good. We're just aiming to make our fans' OTP come true.

Jokes and ideas are thrown around the room making us all laugh and take notes. Y/N and I haven't talked seriously about this but I think we can manage to devise a good plan.

"You know how fanfictions about this kind of situation ends, right? This could really end up backfiring," Y/N jokes and I laughed with her. I love how self-aware we both are.

"Maybe, maybe not. We can't tell, but one thing is for sure, I'm really not into this 'love thing' seriously anymore," I replied nonchalantly.

I can say that I've been a bitter person after all those experiences but I learned to deal with this. Y/N nodded at me in agreement.

"Yeah, you can say that again," she affirmed.

This is really going to be one hell of an experience.

A/N: Yooow. Ya girl is back at it again.
Hope you're excited, thanks for reading!!!
