Imagine #81: You Can Wear A Crown, But You're No Princess (Part 1 of 5)

Y/N's P.O.V.

Call me insane, crazy, mad, and anything on the same page...but I'm still going to do this; be an impostor just so the princess of this country can hide and save herself from all this shit, besides this really needs to be done, it's the only hope for this land.

"Elisa, please, you have to go. I'm telling you, I can handle this." I said to my best friend, which is also the princess of this land.

If you're asking me, no, me and Elisa are not blood related and I'm not even in a royal family of some sort. I'm just a regular peasant that happens to be so lucky when I was a kid. I was literally a street children before and one time, Elisa got out of the castle and the both of us just met by accident. I knew she was the princess even before then and I respected her so much and even said to her that I'll escort her back to the castle so she'll be safe and maybe that's why from then on she treats me as a special friend, or maybe even a sister.

Since then, Elisa and I are like star-crossed best friends. Of course, I can't get inside the castle and she's really not allowed to go out on her own, but of course, as a growing kid, she doesn't listen and escapes the castle sometimes so she can hang out with me and give me some supplies that helps me to survive. Also, I always show her the simplicity of life out of that castle and it's amazing that everything fascinates her. Time goes by and the both of us became mature and I was able to live out the life I want. I'm also finally a part of the maidens that helps the princess, that's why I'm always with her.

"Y/N! This is not a simple problem anymore. You could die here and I'm not going to –

"And do you think I'll let you die? Your Highness, I have no intention to disrespect you, but please, you have to go into hiding and stay like that until the land is under this situation. This country needs you and you're the most important person here right now, so we're doing every effort to hide you." I told her. She's frustrated right now, I can see it in her eyes. She has this whole land in the palm of her hands and the moment she goes down, this land will go down with her.

Unfortunately, this country is now being conquered by many other lands because they just found out that there were many natural treasures hidden in here and because of those greedy fuckers, they are onto marrying the princess or killing her. But, you're thankful with the rule that this land has...until Elisa is underage no one will know her as the princess or soon to be queen, meaning no one from outside the royal family knows her face or anything at all about her and that's when the plan starts.

Since her parents are not around anymore, she was the only one left to run the country, and in the next three days she'll turn into her legal age and that'll be the time of her coronation and her reveal to the world...and also the start of havoc in this country.

"Y-you're going to go out there? Standing as the princess of this land...to get all those threats and attempt murders, Y/N?! I will not let you." She said, a;ready having tears in her eyes.

"Please, please, Princess Elisa. You have to trust me, I will only take your image and you'll still be doing all the work for this country. I will just be a decoy to prevent anything bad happening to you...this is also the plan of everyone in the royal family, we need to save you." I explained to her and all I got was a tight hug from her.

"Promise me, you will not let anyone hurt you!" she said that made me smile.

"Don't you know me, your highness? I'm an asskicking girl. I'll have no problem with that, heck, I'm sure I'll even have a problem pretending to be a sophisticated princess than protecting myself." I joked and finally she laughed.

She began to wipe her tears and smiled at me.

"I will always be at your side, Y/N, promise me, after all, this...we will go to that waterfalls again." She told me with a hopeful smile and I gave her a reassuring nod.

"Of course and we'll have a picnic there, I'll teach you how to swim and everything! Like we always do. This is just another challenge for our friendship...and I'm telling we'll make it through." I told her and she nodded at me.

"I have faith in you, Y/N. I accept the plan, and I promise that I will be in the shadows making sure that the country is still running fine and that you will be safe." She said with determination and I smiled proudly at her.

"Til we see each other again, Princess Elisa." I said, hugging her.

"Indeed, soon to be Princess Y/N." she murmured and I swear that moment, that's when I realized how crazy I am for doing this.

*Three Days Later*

I'm just a normal girl, a peasant, to be precise...living a normal boring life...I have no princessy manners, I always use foul words. I'm clumsy, I do things on my own, not looking into the rules...that's who I am, but now, all that is gone.

I'm now staring at the a huge mirror while wearing this heavy balloon gown, looking like someone with a royal blood. I can't even believe that I can look like this, it's just too mind blowing. The new maidens helped me, they know I was the princess, everyone that knows Elisa being the princess are now into hiding with her. I'm left alone here...all alone...while they do their jobs in the shadows. I just have to keep this up until everything settled down, I don't know when or how...I just have to find something out first while pretending to be a princess. I can do this...

Finally, the coronation program started and I'm happy that I'm such a great pretender. I walked the aisle so elegantly. Everyone's eyes were on me and I feel like Elisa will be proud of me if she's seeing me. I'm really not a girly type of girl and I'd probably explode right now because of what I'm doing, but of course, I need to continue the act.

I reached the throne as the program continues to the point where officials are now introducing me...as Princess Y/N, the princess of this land...and then after that, it's official. The crown was above my head as I stand before the people. My image is now the head of this country and seriously...I have no idea how to keep this up.

*Patrick's P.O.V.*

"Prince Patrick, the king wants to speak with you." One of the maidens in the castle told me and I hurried towards the throne room.

"Your majesty." I said while bowing in front of him. My father smiled at me and then nodded.

"The coronation of the new princess is staring my son. We have discussed everything last night, I believe and I hope you do understand everything I told you." He told me humbly and I smiled at him with determination.

"Of course, Father. I will do my best to help the princess save their country. I understand that you and her parents were allies before and I hope I can help you with your quest." I told him.

"Indeed. I made a mistake by not making a move earlier than this, but let's hope to God that it is not too late." He told me and I agreed. "Now, go forth and do your quest. I have faith in you, my son." He said.

"Thank you, Father." I said and off I go to the coronation of that mysterious princess I should make allies with...I hope this ends well.
