Imagine #8: Start of Something New

{This imagine will be HighSchool Musical AF. Anyways, Happy New Year everyone! ;)}

"I can't believe you dragged me into this, {Your friend's name}." you told your friend as he pull over in front of this bar. Tonight will be New Year 's Eve and for the first time in your 23 years of existence, you'll be attending a new year's eve party in a club.

"Well, I can't believe that I did it too." She answered and giggled. "Come on, enjoy the night, girl! Maybe you can find someone to share a New Year kiss." She added with a wink.

"So that's what this is all about?" you asked with a small smile. You really appreciate her efforts too, and maybe you can really give this night a shot. "But, really, I don't get it. I mean, you're going to find someone, most stranger, and share your first kiss with him or her on this year." You told him and she shook her head at you.

"It's not like that and don't generalize, I'm with Pete and he's not a stranger to me, {Y/N}." she answered sassily and you laughed while you shrugged at her.

The both of you walked inside the bar, at least, it's not the type of bar with a lot of liquor and smoke. It wasn't that packed too. You just took a deep breath and before you realize it, you already lost your friend. You looked around for a little while then you finally saw her with his boyfriend, Pete. You smiled and just let them be.

You walked around the place seeing couple all around. You're proud for yourself because you weren't ranting too much for being in here instead of your bedroom, in fact, you're somehow happy that you considered going here, at least, you wouldn't spend New Year's Eve alone.

You were just standing beside the small stage while watching some people perform. After their performance, some host walked in and he announced that the karaoke duet is now open for everyone. You heard some cheers that brought a small smile on your face. You were about to get out of the way, but suddenly, your friend appeared beside you and she pushed you to go up on the stage. Before you can fight back to her, you're already standing in there with a lot of people cheering for you.

"What the heck?" you mouthed at your friend helplessly, you weren't mad at her, you're just shocked. Your friend just winked at you and gave you a thumbs up.

Suddenly, you saw another guy being pushed towards the stage by Pete. The guy looks so shy, he was even wearing a cute hat and he has these sideburns which you think is cute. You got in the moment and just stared at him, and finally, he looked at you too...and with that your face blushed. You admit to yourself that he looks cute. The guy smiled at you and you smiled at him too, then the people around started to cheer for you.

"Well, what a cute shy couple." The host said and the both of you corrected him and said that you're not together. "Oh, my bad. Well, what's your name?" he asked the guy.

"I-I'm Patrick." He answered with a shy voice.

"How about you?" he asked you this time.

"{Y/N}." you answered him.

"Stop being shy! Looks like you two just met each other...who knows? This could be the start of something new! The floor is yours!" he said and jumped off the stage.

After that, the music started and you're lucky that you know the song. There was small TV in front of you which shows the lyrics and guides you who should sing the part.

"They say we are what we are, but we don't have to be

I'm bad behaviour and I do it in the best way." You started to sing, you're lucky you have an okay voice for this. Also, the song was mellow...it was the acoustic version of the song which somehow made it more romantic.

"I'll be the watcher of the eternal flame

I'll be the guard dog of all your fever dreams." Patrick sang his part shyly, but you admit he has a beautiful voice. Patrick was somehow looking at you too, probably admiring you.

"Oh, whoa, oh... am the sand in the bottom half of the hourglass

Oh, whoa, oh... I'll try to picture me without you but I can't." the both of you sang together and you can't believe that your voices fit each other perfectly. At the last phrase of this part, you and Patrick locked eyes and you saw each other's smiling appearing in your faces. People around are enjoying the music too and they began to dance while you sing.

"'Cause we could be immortals, immortals

And if we meet forever now, pull the blackout curtains down

We could be immortals, immortals, immortals, immortals" You and Patrick sang the chorus twice and it was just perfect. People around started to cheer for the both of you and after that, you just walked down from the stage.

"You two look so cute!" your friend welcomed you with a huge smile. "Go on! I'm sure he's kind, he's best friends with Pete." She added.

"You're really insane." You told her with a laugh.

"How about a thank you?" she asked playfully and you just hugged her.

"Um...h-hey, mind if I talk to y-you?" suddenly, you realized that Patrick was already there. Your friend pulled back and smiled at the both of you before running back to his boyfriend. Finally, you and Patrick are just now alone in there.

"Hey, you have a beautiful voice." You told him honestly. "I'm {Y/N}." you introduced yourself to him.

"Yeah, thanks, your's too and I'm Patrick." He said and the both of you shook hands. "I-it's really my first time to be in a place and event like this...so I really don't know what to do." He said innocently while chuckling. He's really honest and cute like a little kid.

"Well, we're on the same page, Patrick." You honestly told him. "You want to go out and just watch some fireworks?" you told him and it looks like his eyes lit up.

"I would love that. Let's go?" he said.

You and he just went to the balcony and stare at the night sky that the fireworks are lighting up. You and Patrick also started talking and telling things about yourself and you realized that you and he are really similar.

Within an hour, you can't believe that you're already laughing with him like he's been your best friend for years. He's just a really funny and nice guy and you're already feeling comfortable with him.

"The countdown is starting!!" he said excitedly and you both looked at the skies again.

"10...9...8..." you and he started to countdown with everybody else, but soon enough your eyes met each other. "7...6...5...4..." you continued, a wide smile appearing in your face. "3...2...1!!!" the night sky lit up with the most beautiful fireworks and everyone was in awe.

"HAPPY NEW YEAR!" all of you shouted and after that, you saw people around you already sharing their new year kiss with their partners.

"I've never thought that attending here will be this fun," You said to him. After that, you looked at him again.

"Yeah, same here." He answered with a warm smile. "Happy New Year, {Y/N}. I'm glad I met you at the start of this year." He added with made you blush.

"Happy New Year, Patrick. And I'm glad as you are." You said.

After that, both of you went back to stare at the skies as fireworks continued to amaze the both you. Suddenly, you felt that both of you are already shoulder to shoulder...and with that you smiled without even looking at each other, and on your minds, you're agreeing to what the host just said earlier.

Maybe...just maybe...this could really be the start of something new.
