Chapter One

Blitz yelped in fear as lightning bolted across the sky, blended with the loud crash of thunder. He quickly ran under Rei's body for comfort and shelter. Rei looked down at the small beagle.
"Don't be afraid, Blitz, it's just a storm." Rei comforted the small frightened dog.
"Titan, there is a shelter nearby we can stay in overnight." Tierce barked over the rain.
The doberman nodded, signaling the rest of the group to follow their co-leader to the spoken shelter. Rei was the last to follow, her pelt soaked from the ongoing downpour of rain. They soon entered an old and abandoned building.
It was Rei's turn to watch while the others slept so she sat in the entrance, out of the rain.
'So much rain... What will we do if it doesn't stop by morning?' she thought. She suddenly perked her ears as a soft sound echoed in her ears. The soft sound of mud. Alert, Rei suddenly stood up and squinted in the dim moonlight, leaning forwards slowly.
The silhouette of a dog, a bit taller than her, lingered in the shadows as rain streamed down. Rei padded outside, her head low and her fur bristling lightly against the rain. She growled as she got closer. The shadow tucked it's tail at her approach.
"Reveal yourself." she warned.
"I'm Adam." The shadow barked lowly as it stepped into the moonlight. A dark german shepherd stood in its place, not much older or bigger than Rei herself. Feeling sympathy for the canine known as Adam, Rei lifted her head up and stopped snarling.
"Why are you here, Adam?" she barked as the rain began to lighten.
"To seek shelter from the rain."
"The Rage already seeks shelter here."
"I can even sleep under the balcony if that lightens your strict mind?" She swung around to look at the balcony. Rei froze as she realized there wasn't one and Adam laughed. Then he stepped forwards, Rei barking a warning. He ignored her warning and stepped forwards again.
Rei snarled and slammed her shoulder into his, making him fall.
"You cannot enter without Titan's permission!"
"Then fetch him, let me speak to him." he stood up and shook his pelt of mud and rain.
Rei wanted to hit him again, but couldn't bring herself to do it.
"He is resting." she told him calmly.
"Not anymore." Titan stepped next to Rei.
"You will listen to Rei and do everything any of us tell you. If you wish to stay and join the group, you will stay here till morning. If not, then you will be gone before we all awaken."
Adam agreed with Titan and followed him and Rei into the building. His paw pads left tracks of mud as he walked across the wooden floors. Rei flattened her ears as his claws clattered against the hard ground. "You sleep there." she pointed him to a lit up spot in the middle. She curled up in a ball in the back corner and watched him until his aura moved lightly with the rhythm of sleep. Only then did she drift off to sleep.
