Prologue

BE CAUTIOUS, DEATH MAY BE PRESENT! ALONG WITH ANYTHING ELSE THAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS IN THESE BOOKS

Paws treaded on the earth as he looked around, following Winter. Time was different here, Patches knew it. His lungs hurt, and he felt weak, yet that was the drawback of his lives. "We're here." Winter announced as they reached a forest. It was such a long way away from the silent meadow Winter usually was in, which only put Patches more on edge. "Where's the cave entrance?" He asked. Winter shrugged, and started leading the way, slowly.

Patches knew Winter often wasn't able to leave, yet after his death in actual time, Winter was able to move around freely in this realm, much like how Patches was able to. The calico tom watched as Winter crawled beneath a log, and Patches did the same, entering the cave. "Thank you. Are you sure I'll be able to learn about the past here? Learn more about my situation?" Patches asked. Winter nodded. "Indeed. Onto your journey, as I need to return to my duties." Winter confirmed. Patches nodded, and slowly started looking at the walls of the cave.

Swirls, numbers, and letters lined the walls, each one more interesting than the last. Patches grabbed a torch and lit it, skimming through the text.

With a great sigh, Patches kept walking through the cave. The light from the torch danced across the cave walls. It was really hard for Patches to breathe here, yet it wasn't impossible. His mind was focused on a few things, things he barely understood himself, yet wanted to know. He had a sister in his... first? Second? Life, but was Phoenix the reincarnate of that cat? Or was that cat the reincarnate of Phoenix?

Patches shrugged, and continued looking at the text, slowing down so he didn't miss anything, like he did at the start of the cave.

Most of the text resonated with some form of major history event, including Citrine, but yet, more was to be discovered the further back Patches went. For a while, writing seemed to stop, which was odd to say the least, yet Patches continued. Soon, writing showed up again, but this time, it was about the gods.
