Chapter 7
Silence echoed around them as they stood in a forest. The trees were oddly uniform in appearance, and fog covered the ground.
It reminded Phoenix of the swamps she used to grow up near, if it weren't for the eerie trees. Now the trees typically wouldn't be of much note if it were a tree farm, or if one was used to the area, but it was certainly putting Phoenix at unease.
"Why did you bring me here?" Phoenix demanded. Silly String remained silent for a while. "Asyra, now is not the time." Silly String finally answered.
Phoenix hissed. "That's not my name. Why did you bring me here!?" She demanded once more. The ginger molly's tail lashed back and fourth. Silly String did not answer, and just kept walking.
Phoenix, not knowing where she was, was forced to follow the other.
"What do you know about the past? About the gods? Anything? Even gut feelings?" Silly String asked. Phoenix snarled. "And why should I tell you? You've just kidnapped me!"
Silly String shook her head, before facing Phoenix. "Answer my question. What do you know about the gods, what do you feel about the gods!?" Silly String's voice was loud, and clear. The trees granted her voice a ringing echo that slowly died out.
This stunned Phoenix for a moment, but she was quick to regain her composure. "I don't have to tell jack." Phoenix stubbornly answered. Silly String glared at Phoenix for a moment, then let out a low growl and kept on walking. "An answer would make this a lot easier."
Phoenix already hated Silly String more than she could handle, yet just kept her mouth shut.
It was a long walk, however, so Phoenix decided to answer. "I know about a demi-god but that's that."
Silly String nodded. "What do you feel about the gods? What do you think they're like?" She asked. Phoenix shrugged. "I don't know of any other god aside from Citrine's father, and even then, I don't feel anything about him. I think he was just a god doing god things or whatever."
It was a short, yet quick answer.
"What about the god of time? There is one, Arius. What do you think he'd be like?" Silly String asked.
Phoenix was back to being annoyed. This was a lot of questions about topics she knew nothing on. "I don't know. Neutral, I guess." Phoenix remained silent after Silly String asked another question.
It remained silent throughout the walk, until they reached a great field. Phoenix felt a weird sense of nostalgia here, as though she once walked these grounds, playing with friends.
She shook her head and cleared her thoughts; she was following Silly String right now.
More and more time went by until Phoenix could see a cluster of cats. Her heart dropped when she saw a familiar calico coat.
She paused in her tracks, taking everything in for a moment. He had been gone for years prior, and now this mysterious cat comes in, kidnaps her, and brings her to see him once again.
"Patchy!" Phoenix called out. The sound was seemingly silenced by the space around them as Silly String continued walking. "We need silence, let them listen. We are to arrive quietly." Silly String directed. Phoenix nodded, a bit too excitedly.
Her brother and her best friend were together too! She couldn't wait to see them again!
