Chapter 6

Ignoring the scent, Phoenix continued on. "Ghostly, why aren't you affected by siren song?" Phoenix asked.

A long moment passed without a response, causing Phoenix to look back. Where Ghostly should've been, he wasn't. "Ghostly?" Phoenix called, looking around. She was already concerned.

"Excuse me, Miss?" A new cat spoke. Phoenix looked at the molly. "Who are you?" Phoenix demanded. Whoever this cat was, Phoenix was sure it had to do with Ghostly's disappearance.

The molly appeared to be gray in color, down to the eyes. The tail was short, and the fur looked almost feathery. "You seem lost," The molly dodged the question. or ignored it.

"I'm not lost, just looking for my friend!" Phoenix hissed. She really didn't like this molly already. "Oh, but are you sure you're not lost? Perhaps your friend already headed to town to find you something? Or perhaps was pulled aside for a second?" The molly persisted.

Phoenix was really getting agitated. "Whatever you're getting at, I don't care. I'm not lost, and he wouldn't leave like that!" She growled.

The molly sighed. "I think you're not quite understanding my intentions. My name is Silly String, most have granted me the nickname Alulah. I'm here to help guide you." The molly stated. Phoenix, still agitated, snapped. "I told you already. I'm not lost!" With greater emotions, Phoenix's flames grew, almost engulfing her wings, ears, tail, and forelegs entirely.

Silly String just shook her head and started to walk away. "If you don't come with me, you won't find your friend. You will be stuck here." Silly String paused in her motion, then continued, expecting Phoenix to follow.

With great irritation, Phoenix obliged and followed. The flames started to simmer down, and after a while, a great river stretched out before the two.

"Well, now I am lost." Phoenix muttered under her breath. She knew the land very well, but she didn't recognize this river.

Silly String turned to Phoenix and grinned. The world around them seemed to vanish completely.

Patches was still confused. That was his sister, right? No, that didn't matter. "You know your past, right? I've known myself too. I had to take a more mortal form to watch over you as Patchy, but it's still been taken care of regardless. You've learned, right?" Winter commented.

"Yes, but what did I just witness? Who was that? Where did Ghostly and Phoenix go?" Patches asked. Winter shrugged. "I'm reuniting the two gods, one way or another. Do not worry about Sunny for now." Winter looked off towards the distance, where Ghostly, along with a fluffy black and white tom were arriving from.

After a moment, they arrived. "Long time no see, Arius." The tom greeted. Ghostly was equally confused, if not more. "Where am I? Why is Patchy here? He shouldn't be." Ghostly asked. "Winter?"

Winter looked up. "Hello, Nex." Winter greeted Ghostly warmly. "I am so confused-" Ghostly commented. Patches nodded, but he knew he was more informed than the poor cat in front of him.

The other tom sat down next to Winter while Ghostly sat himself down next to Patches. A strong, pungent scent of death followed Ghostly, which made Patches scoot away a bit.

With a deep breath, the tom spoke. "Let me tell you a tale,"
