Chapter 2

The rocking of the boat put Patches to ease. Yet each rock, each moment, Patches's heart dropped as he knew they'd be getting closer to land. He wasn't ready yet. Patches didn't want his life to be ended, and for his memories to be erased.

He stood up, and walked past Marsh and headed back into the cabin and into his nest. Fortunately for him, despite his movements almost being automatic now, he was able to do so at this time.

Patches went into his nest, now next to Moon's, and curled up in his bedding. Winter's world quickly took over Patches's mind and body.

Patches looked around. He was back in the field. Not what he was going for, yet it would do for now.

He headed towards the cave and crawled in, heading back into the cave and diving into the literature.

Finally, Patches reached the section about the gods. Hopefully, he'd have enough time to read it, or at least part of it.

Inspecting each word carefully, he started to read.

Time had yet to be created, and space was yet to be in control. The sun was newborn, and so was the space around it. With each unit of space, a new god was assigned. Which one was assigned first was usually a mystery, however that doesn't mean all were.

The first for this segment of space, was the god of time. Fitting, right? The god of time wasn't exactly alone though.

As the early world formed, the god of time gained his mortal counterpart, one most would consider family, perhaps even a sibling of sorts.

The young god, now having to watch over his younger sibling, did everything imaginable to keep them safe and protect them, a strong bond forming between the two.

Of course, he was the first god, and the only god, thus having no reason to fear, nor to learn. Because of this, a new god was formed.

The goddess of space was added.

The goddess of space was the one who shaped the world for all life that formed- for the early cats, for the trees, for the cryptids.

The goddess of space and the god of time got along fairly well, agreeing to have a meeting every century to update their laws and to get back on track.

Of course, the space goddess had her own mortal counterpart, but this time, she at least had some immortal counterpart.

She had a brother, the god of void. The god of void was nearly the exact opposite of the goddess of space. While she took care of filling planets with terrain, her brother took care of emptying the space around the planets, to keep the planets safe from other threats.

The god of time and the god of void did not get along well yet did often agree on the same thing.

Patches looked up for a moment, realizing he was waking. He didn't get enough information! He needed more knowledge. He could feel his body movements slowly speeding up and his heartbeat accelerate to a normal level.

He tried not to blink, alas there was failure, and now, he was awake once more.
