Just as promised, Taehyung showed up in front of Jeongguk's apartment early on a Saturday to pick Storm up for their weekend date.

Taehyung already told Jeongguk about his plans for today and as much as the latter wanted to join them, he can’t... and he won’t, because he still had a lot of things to think about, and being with Taehyung will definitely not help him.

When he reads the recent message Taehyung had sent him, saying that he's already outside their apartment, he immediately wipes his hands on the apron he’s wearing as he calls out to Storm who already sprinted towards his room after he had finished his breakfast.

“Stormy, Papa Tata’s here!”

“I’m almost done, daddy!” Storm’s shouts are muffled by the walls of his room but in order not to keep Taehyung waiting, he personally steps outside to welcome their guest.

He sees him, standing oh so beautiful on their doorstep, and the itch to touch, to hug, to kiss, is present all over Jeongguk's body. He had to keep his hands behind him, terrified that if he’ll let it loose, he’ll scare Taehyung away once more.

“Hey, Guk. Is Storm ready?” Jeongguk snaps out of it when Taehyung started talking. He clears his throat, blinks his eyes for a couple of times before answering.

“Uh, yeah. He’ll be down in a minute. Make yourself at home,” he says, gesturing for Taehyung to step inside.

Thank God Jeongguk cleaned everything yesterday so that he doesn’t have to worry about take-out boxes scattered all around the floor.

He knew how Taehyung doesn’t like messy places. Of course, he knows. He remembers everything now that his brain decided to function properly again.

“Do you want something to eat? Pancakes? Or how about a cup of coffee? Wait, I forgot you usually don’t drink coffee when it’s not from Yoongi’s... shop...”

The last word barely came out as a whisper. He realized he’s been rambling the moment he looks up to scan Taehyung’s face and the latter was already looking at him, eyebrows quirking in confusion.

“Sorry, didn’t mean to ramble...” He mutters, staring at anything but the man in front of him. Taehyung was about to say something but was cut off when Storm started running towards him, toppling him over with a big hug.

“Papa!” The kid squeals. Taehyung laughs at the enthusiasm and tries to sit up straight, pulling Storm with him. The kid is now nuzzling Taehyung’s chest, inhaling the comforting scent of the other.

“Someone’s excited.”

“Well, he couldn’t even sleep last night because he’s /that/ excited to see you,” Jeongguk comments, earning a whine from his own son.

“Come on. Let’s go, bud. I have a lot in store for you today,” Taehyung pats Storm on his butt signaling him to stand up so that they can go. Storm was quick enough to follow, lending a hand for Taehyung to take as he let his feet stand firm back on the ground.

“Daddy, why aren’t you dressed?”

“It’s just you and Papa for today, buddy. I have an important thing to do today but I’ll be waiting for you to come home tonight, okay?” Jeongguk crouches down to fix his son’s hair. Storm gives him a pout making it impossible for Jeongguk not to coo and give his son a smooch on both of his cheeks.

“I want you to enjoy, baby. Now give daddy a big hug so that you can go out now.” Storm does so, muttering a soft ‘Bye, daddy’ on Jeongguk's ears. He then pulls away and takes a step backward to hold Taehyung’s hand.

“I’ll see the two of you tonight. Take care, Tae.”

“You too, Guk. I’ll send you pictures, yeah?”

They part ways with smiles on their faces, making it even harder for Jeongguk to pretend that he doesn’t miss Taehyung’s smile at all.

It happens when Taehyung and Storm steps outside the diner they spent their dinner at. Happens when they started walking towards the direction where Taehyung’s car was parked and Storm starts to cling to him tightly.

Taehyung instantly knew how Storm dreaded this particular part of the day. The part where Taehyung will say, “Let’s get you home to your dad, buddy.”

Taehyung can hear the whines of protest coming out of Storm’s mouth, bottom lip starting to wobble as he drags his Papa along with him inside the backseat of the car.

He crawls on Taehyung’s lap, arms finding their way around the latter’s neck. He whimpers, shaking his head aggressively whenever Taehyung would attempt to yank his grip off of him.

Realizing that the kid will not let go of him any time soon, he gives up and wraps his arms around the little boy’s trembling body instead. He starts drawing small patterns on Storm’s back, humming a soft tune just to soothe the kid down.

“Papa, I don’t want for this day to end. I’m afraid that I will not be able to see you again when I let go of this hug,” the kid says softly which made Taeyung’s heart clench in pain.

“Stormy, I promised you something, didn’t I? I promised to visit you every weekend and I’ll make sure to never skip a day,” Taehyung assures him but he only gets a sniffle in response.

“Papa? Can I ask you something?” He then breaks the hug just to look at Taehyung in the eyes.

“Ask away, buddy.”

“Why didn’t you come look for us?” Taehyung stills at that.

“What-“

“Daddy looked for a way to contact you because mommy hid his phone. Why didn’t you come? Have you already given up on us that time?”

Taehyung felt immobilized. He can’t hear a thing anymore, can’t even move an inch of his muscle and say something... anything.

“Daddy would always go by the door and hoped for you to come in and bring us back home. He waited, and waited, but you never came. Why?”

They didn’t even notice how the both of them were already a crying mess. Taehyung, at loss of words, goes back to tightening his hold around the crying child, lips ghosting over his temple as he repeatedly says, “I’m sorry.”

‘I didn’t know’ he wants to add, but how can he explain why he didn’t fucking know?

Storm slept all throughout the ride, leaving Taehyung in silence, forehead creasing in pain, confusion, anger.

When he parks outside Jeongguk's apartment, he takes a deep breath before taking Storm outside of the car, careful enough not to wake him up.

Thankfully Storm still sleeps like a log so he didn’t have a hard time carrying him until they’re at the front door. He was about to knock but the sound of the door being unlocked took him by surprise.

“Tae, welcome back,” Jeongguk pauses to take a look at Storm snuggled warmly in Taehyung’s embrace.

“I see he’s asleep already. Give him to me and make yourself comfortable inside. I’ll take him to his room.” Taehyung could only watch Jeongguk and all the actions he made.

When the door to Storm’s room closed shut, Taehyung automatically stands up to bid Jeongguk goodbye.

“Hey, you look exhausted. Did he give you a hard time?” Taehyung shakes his head immediately.

“He was such a sweetheart the whole day, Guk. Always clung close to me.”

“What can I say? He misses you everyday, Tae.”

“Guk, I-“

“Hm?”

However, instead of saying sorry all over again, Taehyung allowed himself to take a step forward, engulfing Jeongguk into a (very) unexpected hug.

“I’ll get going now. Thank you... for letting me spend the day with him. Good night, Guk. "

“G-good night, Tae...”

Taehyung suddenly regrets pulling away from Jeongguk's warmthㅡ wishing he can stay again forever.
