fifty-nine

"How long have you been staring at me, Mr. Jeon?" Taehyung asks the first thing he wakes up. His voice was raspy from sleep, and his body was sore all over. Jeongguk just stares at him some more, lips curling into a sly smile.

"Not too long, really," He answers, fingers now playing with Taehyung's tangled hair. Taehyung just hums in response, shifting his body so that he could get closer to Jeongguk.

"What time is it?" He asks, plopping his chin on Jeongguk's chest.

"It's just 2 in the morning, Tae. Go back to sleep," Jeongguk ushers him but the older doesn't budge. Instead, he wraps his arms around Jeongguk's torso, making the younger giggle because he's nuzzling his face on it and it tickles.

"Don't want to," he mumbles. Jeongguk takes a deep breath, the smile now gone from his face. He ponders for awhile, staring off into the distance and Taehyung notices it when everything fell silent.

"Hey, what's wrong?" It's when Taehyung asks the question that Jeongguk snaps out of his reverie. He looks at the boy beside him, fingers starting to trace Taehyung's face.

"You trust me, right, baby?"

"Gukkie, of course I do. I trust you with my whole life," Taehyung assures him.

"I just want you to know that I trust you, too... and I want to tell you everything. I think I'm ready, Tae. I'm ready to tell everything about Storm's mother," Jeongguk whispers anxiously, looking anywhere but Taehyung. The older's chest bubbles with something akin to relief and pain combined. He's relieved, because Jeongguk finally had the courage to open up. He's pained, because he doesn't really know what to expect. He doesn't know whether it's pure angst, or a bittersweet one.

"Just tell me whenever you're ready, Gukkie. I will listen," Taehyung mumbles, pressing a soft kiss on Jeongguk's temple.

It took 10 more minutes before Jeongguk could even start from the very beginning. He told Taehyung about the life he had in the past, the struggles he went through just to carry Storm on his back and feed him. He told every single detail; all the things he experienced in the hands of his past lover, and the things that changed his life to become a better person after Storm had arrived. Taehyung listened to him attentively, tears falling down his cheeks when Jeongguk told him about how they were homeless for a week. He wept and wept, until he was a shaking mess to the point that Jeongguk had to remind him that it's all in the past now.

"Gukkie, you were so strong... You were so brave... You have no one yet- yet you survived..." Taehyung says amidst sobs.

"I only had Storm that time, but he was enough to keep me going. I left everything else behind, Tae. Now, I've got you. You and Storm are my life now. The two of you are more than enough," Jeongguk breathes out against Taehyung's hair.

"How about her? Do you have any news about her?"

"I stopped looking for her a long time ago, Tae. Like I said, she lost me and Storm the moment she walked out of the house. She has no one to return to anymore," the younger says sternly, jaw tensing a little.

"Gukkie..."

Jeongguk looks at Taehyung in the eyes, and before he could even stop himself, he suddenly blurts out the words: "I want to marry you, Tae."

"I know we only knew each other not too long ago, and we started being enemies, but right now, all I could ever think of is marrying you. I want to build a family with you because I see home in you. It's been too long since Storm and I had someone that willingly took care of us. Storm loves you. I love you. I just want you to promise me something," Jeongguk utters wholeheartedly, eyes never leaving Taehyung's tearful ones.

"W-what is it?"

"Promise me, that when the time comes, you'll say 'Yes,'" Jeongguk whispers, pressing their foreheads together.

"Gukkie..." Taehyung sniffles.

"Promise me, that we'll take care of Storm together. We'll raise our children well. And as long as I'm breathing, I will protect you with all my might. Please, Tae. Promise me that," the younger continues, too desperate to hear Taehyung's answer. The sobs didn't die down, but Taehyung tries his best to take Jeongguk by the hand, kissing the latter's knuckles before latching both their pinky fingers together.

"I promise. I love you, Gukkie..."

"I love you too, my heart."

They made love under the pale moonbeam, whispering words of love and adoration. They scream nothing but both of their names as they reach their highs, promises of loving each other til the end of time being said at each other ㅡ hands intertwined, and no one seems too brave to let go.

When morning came, the two falls into the same routine, almost forgetting that Storm wasn't with them. Jeongguk almost panicked when he saw an empty room instead of his son but Taehyung was quick to remind him that the kid was at Gail's. Taehyung laughed at him, mocking him for being too forgetful, calling him an 'old man' and Jeongguk was having none of it. They ended up running around the house, Taehyung's squeals turning into the most beautiful giggles when Jeongguk catches him and tackles him down to tickle his sides.

They're sprawled down the floor, looking at each intimately while catching their breaths. Jeongguk leans down slowly, brushes his lips on Taehyung's plump ones before kissing them fully. The kiss was lazy but sweet, tongues lapping each other slowly; Jeongguk's hands now roaming inside Taehyung's shirt ㅡ which was his ㅡ drawing circles on the warm flesh hidden underneath. Taehyung squirms at the touch and was quick to pull away from Jeongguk before things start to get heated.

"Guk, we have to go to work," Taehyung reminds him, yet again. The younger could only groan, stealing a couple of kisses from Taehyung before standing up, bringing Taehyung with him.

To say Jeongguk was disappointed would be an understatement.

They went on with their morning, Taehyung preparing for breakfast while Jeongguk takes a shower. They ate animately, the conversation was forced to die down when they look at the wall clock and realized it was almost 7:30. Making sure that they're all set for work, they left the house and drove towards the daycare center.

When they arrived, the two still didn't go inside for they were waiting for their son. And as if on cue, Sangwoo's car shows up the driveway, and when it's all parked, Storm was immediately running towards them, the little boy radiating so much energy.

"Daddy! Papa!" Storm beams at the two, jumping on Jeongguk's arms. The said man nuzzles his nose on Storm's face.

"Daddy missed you, buddy," Jeongguk whispers, making Storm giggle.

"Hey, Stormy," Taehyung greets him softly. Storm looks at him, making grabby hands so that his papa could carry him. Taehyung complies, peppering soft kisses on the little boy's face.

"Okay, the two of you have to go inside now. You're late," Jeongguk says. Sangwoo passes by them, and they thank him for taking care of Storm last night.

"See you later?" Taehyung asks.

"I'll see you later, sweetheart."

"Stormy, say goodbye to daddy," Storm mumbles a quick 'Bye, daddy, love you' and places a big smooch on Jeongguk's cheek. Taehyung followed suit, but now kissing Jeongguk on the lips. The child groans, saying that both his fathers are eeky, but the two just laughed it off.

Just as Taehyung made sure that Storm was already inside his classroom, the director's secretary approached him while he was on his way to the faculty office.

"Teacher Tae?" Kyungri asks, struggling to carry some files.

"Kyung? Do you need a hand?"

"Uh, no, thanks. Director Joohyun wants to have a word with you."

"Is it something serious?"

Kyungri smiles at him, waving her hand, forgetting that she had something piled on her arms. She almost dropped everything, good thing Taehyung was quick enough to hold them for her.

"Nothing serious, Teacher Tae. It's just that there's a new teacher and Director Jo wanted you to show her around."

"Oh, really? Okay, then, I'll go! Are you sure you don't want me to carry some of these?"

"No! Just go, Teacher Tae," Kyungri dismisses him with a laugh and Taehyung could only smile at her before jogging his way towards the director's office. Kyungri sighs dreamily, looking at Taehyung's retreating figure.

Taehyung takes a deep breath before opening the door to the director's office. As soon as he steps inside, he was met with Director Jo sitting in her chair, and an unfamiliar girl sitting across to her table.

"Good morning!" Taehyung chirps in enthusiasm. Joohyun's face lights up upon seeing Taehyung and ushers him to sit down. Taehyung was able to take a good look at the new teacher's face, and she was really pretty. She seems foreign, though.

"Taehyung, as you can see, we have accepted a new teacher here to help out with the kids. She's from Japan and she's still struggling since it hasn't been too long since she back here but I know she can manage."

The woman nods, unsure, but Taehyung just gives her a thumbs up, as if to say that she's doing great. The woman bows his head gratefully towards Taehyung.

"Now, I will leave her to you, Taehyung, since I have a board meeting to attend to. Please do show her around, introduce her to other teachers and of course, to the kids that she will be handling. Please do remind Mr. Byun of her schedule," Director Joohyun instructs him. Taehyung just nods, looking at the woman as he gives a silent nod for her to stand up and leave the room with him. They bowed before going outside.

"So, hi! I'm Kim Taehyung. I'll be showing you around today, wait, you do understand me, right?" Taehyung asks carefully before even proceeding with his talks.

"It's okay, Taehyung-ssi. I understand perfectly well," the woman assures him, a grateful smile on her lips.

"What's your name again?"

"Sana. Minatozaki Sana."

"Hello, Sana-san. I hope you enjoy teaching here in Daydream Cove!"
