Sage White was so not feeling school that next day. Of course, she never really was, but the feeling was more prominent today. The black-haired beauty rolled out of her bed, feet landing on the ground for once before she made her way towards her bathroom.
Thankfully, at Auradon, they got to choose if they wanted a room mate to bunk with. Sage, as much as she loved people, kinda wanted to have her own bedroom so she could have her own time.
After taking a shower, drying her hair, and picking out her normal red, yellow, and blue outfit, Sage checked the time.
"Great!" Sage huffed, seeing as she only had five minutes to get to her first class. Picking up her last minute things (her blue bag, a poptart, and some rings) Sage ran full speed towards her class.
She managed to sit in her seat with only a minutes to spare. Thank God it was only Music Theory.
The day was kind of a drag, seeing as yesterday's excitement didn't really travel over to today.
She went through her classes and when it was finally time for her study hall, she snuck pass the librarian and made it to a classroom that she used for practice.
Sage let a happy sigh as she set her bag down. Digging through it and pulling out a small case, Sage happily sat down and started to put her flute together.
The daughter of Snow White did her usual scales to warm up, and even played a short song of Shenandoah. Once she was done, Sage dug through her bag some more and pulled out some sheet music.
Thanks to Doug, her other best friend besides Ben, he had printed off some flute sheet music, and even secretly gave her some pieces the band themselves were working on.
Plus, much against the will of Chad, Sage had a solo in the performance on Parents Visitation Day. If Ben wasn't so determined to give Sage the flute solo, she would have done what Chad wished and backed out. But her love for Ben easily overrid her want to make her future husband happy.
So, for the next hour, Sage did nothing but practiced her little flute solo. She even added in some dances she was going to do. When she got bored, still have a good fifteen minutes before having to go to the field, Sage tried to compose a little song by herself. After she did a trill, the sudden sound of someone clapping made her jump and spin around.
There stood Evie, looking as beautiful as ever, leaning against the door and watching Sage with amusement.
"That was really good," Evie complimented, making Sage blush a bit.
"Er, not really," Sage laughed as she fiddled with her flute. "It was just something at the top of my head."
"Well, would you mind playing a song you do know?" Evie asked. "What even is it?"
"A flute," Sage grinned, "My pride and joy. I've been playing flute since as long as I can remember."
"So, you're in band?" Evie hummed, dragging a chair over to sit. Sage winced, looking down at her silver instrument she's taken very good care of. It sparkled in the sunlight that flowed through the open window.
"No, uh. . .There's some complications, so I just decided to stick with cheer." Sage answered with a half-truth. I mean, it wasn't a complete lie!
"Cheer?" Evie smiled. "You're a cheerleader?"
"One of the best flyers, or so says the rest of the team. Besides Audrey," Sage shook her head with a fond smile.
"Audrey doesn't seem like the best person here," Evie said slowly, hoping to not offend her. "She doesn't really act nice towards you."
"We don't see eye-to-eye," Sage stated simply. "Audrey thinks more like. . .The old royals. I'm more towards the future royals."
"Meaning?"
"I want a kingdom where everyone is treated equally. Villains, the technical lower class, middle class, fairies, gays and all. We're all human, well, the majority of us. Why can't we just see out differences and work together to make them work?" Sage stopped her ranting with a shy smile. "Sorry, got carried away."
"It's fine," Evie smiled as well. "I thought it was cute,"
"So, you wanted to hear me play?" Sage asked suddenly, bring her instrument to her plump lips and turning a certain way to hide her red face. "I just got this song memorized recently, so it might be choppy."
Evie leaned forwards in her chair, putting her elbow on her knee and her chin in her hand. Waiting for the first note.
It started off slow, and uneasy, like she was scared to play in front of someone. But that wasn't the case, Sage loved to talk in front of people, to play her flute was something she adored. No, she was afraid that Evie wouldn't like how she played. She was scared that Evie would think she was a nerd.
But when she peaked open her eyes and saw Evie staring at her in awe, Sage relaxed. She played just like she would any other time, even going around and dancing a little. Putting her all into her performance.
As the last note rung out, Sage kept her eyes closed. She felt the note travel through the air, spread across the room, and slowly fade out. When that happened, she lowered her instrument and opened her eyes.
"That was. . ." Evie stammered, eyes wide and mouth agaped.
"Nerdy?" Sage offered with a crooked smile.
"Beautiful!" Evie jumped up from her chair, blue curls flying as she closed the space between them. "I never heard anyone play like that before! Though, I really never heard anyone play a flute before. . ."
"Thank you," Sage smiled, beaming brightly.
"You should play more often!" Evie exclaimed. "You need to join the band, I'm sure they would love to have someone as talented as you in their band!"
"I can't," Sage admitted sadly, starting to take apart her flute and put it in her case. "I would love to, I would, but I. . .just can't,"
"I see. . ." Evie murmured, dropping the clearly tough subject. "Well, what do you have next?"
"I got cheer practice," Sage perked up a bit more. "We're going to be practicing out by the field."
"I think Fairy Godmother told Jay and Carlos about using their energy on the field today. . ." Evie shrugged, a perfect smile pulling her lips up. "But, hey, if you don't mind - could you, uh, teach me?"
"Teach you what?" Sage asked, amused, as she put her sheet music in a folder and back into her blue bag.
"You know!" Evie scoffed, shaking her head. "Teach me how to play the flute. . ."
Sage paused, starting to consider the offer. She would get to play her flute more than she usual did. . .She would also get to hang out with Evie more, which is something that Sage would happily do.
"Yeah, sure thing," Sage agreed, turning to face Evie. "I can totally teach you how to play the flute. The band director should let you borrow a flute as well."
"Thank you, so much!" Evie beamed, looking as if she was about to give Sage a hug, but second guessed it. "So, here, same time?"
"Just an hour earlier," Sage said. "You caught be at the end of my practice."
"Wicked," Evie pranced towards the door, Sage following after her. "Can't wait!"
🍎
"Alright, ladies! Lets go over the routine stunt one last time!" Audrey, the captain of the cheer team, called out from the front of the line. " I think we have the dance routine down. Then, we'll go over our main cheers and watch the rest of practice. Ready?"
We stood in our form about sixteen counts before the actual stunt, watching as Audrey pressed the remote's play button before their routines song blared throughout the field.
"Five, six, five six seven eight!" Audrey counted before we threw our arms up with our pom poms. Our poms flipped down before we turned towards our left, hands going in front of us and throwing them to our sides. We turned back around, making our arms into an X and breaking it before crowing together.
Sage took a deep breath, being in the middle of the squad. She put her foot into someone's hand and doing the same thing to her other foot before she was lifted in the air. Her smile was bright as she put her arms up in a 'Y' and rolled them down. Sage saluted the 'crowd' while her bases dropped her a bit, getting ready to toss.
While the two flyers to Sage's left and right were just tossed lightly into the air for dismount, Sage's middle group did something different.
With a grunt, Sage's two bases prepped and tossed Sage high in the air. Almost immediately, Sage twirled herself in the air, did a flip, and landed safely in her friend's grasp. They let her slid out of their grasp before finishing the song, all of them in a triangle form in a salute.
"Well, it wasn't bad," Audrey admitted with a shrug, turning towards her squad with a blank face. Her eyes seem to travel somewhere else before small smirk appeared on her face. "Change of plans, lets watch the new kids get crushed."
Confused, Sage turned to see Jay and Carlos on the field, getting ready to do a play for their try outs.
"Make sure to cheer," Audrey said dryly, although Sage was the only one to notice.
"I think they're going to be fine," Sage admitted, a grin on her face as she shook her pom poms. "Whoo! Go Carlos! Get 'em, Jay!"
The whistle blew, and Jay was quick to play his way, knocking over the other team and his own teammates. He easily knocked Chad down, which Sage cheered loudly for.
He knocked over someone on the opposite team, who had the little ball in his handle, before doing into the kill zone. The shooter shot at Jay, but he barely even made an attempt to dodge them, even at the rate they were shooting at him.
Jay picked up the ball with his stick, tossed it into the air, and started to go at Carlos.
"Wait, Jay, it's me! Carlos!!" The white-haired boy cried out, throwing his stick. Jay didn't listen, or here, because Jay ran at his villain friend. Of course, Carlos dropped and covered himself with the shield, and Jay traveled over him.
Ben, who was going for the goal, got tackled by Jay while Jay himself got the ball in his stick and threw it in the goal.
The cheer team cheered, doing kicks and flips. Sage did a quick backflip and waved her pom poms around frantically. "Good job, boys!"
Audrey was the only one not cheering, glaring hole into her squad, which no one noticed. Sage laughed as Jay threw his stick, gloves, and helmet down and started to do a victory dance.
"Practice over," Audrey gritted out, turning around and storming off. Sage couldn't help but let a giggle slip through her lips.

Sage knocked at the same door that she left the new girls at later on that afternoon, her blue purse tucked into the crook of her arm.
The door swung open, a rather disgruntled Mal staring right back at Sage. Her expression quickly morphed into a neutral smile though at the sight of Sage.
"Hey. Whattya want?"
"I came to give you guys some gifts," Sage grinned, jingling her bag around lightly. "For you and Evie. Can I come in?"
"What do you want in return?" Mal asked suspiciously, narrowing her green eyes. Sage blinked in surprise.
"N-Nothing." She stammered before lightly laughing. "Right, I forgot! No, here, when giving a gift, you don't expect anything in return!" Sage explained. "So, I give you and Evie a gift, and we continue on with life!"
"And you don't blackmail us or anything?" Mal tilted her head.
"Nope! Just doing this out of the kindness of my heart!"
Mal snorted, turning around and walking back into her shared room. Sage followed, since Mal didn't say no, and shut the door gently behind her.
"We have a guest," Mal told Evie, gently tapping her shoulder while going to her bed and flopping herself on it. Evie turned in surprise and smiled brilliantly at Sage.
"Hey, Sage!"
"Hey, Evie!" Sage responded. "I'm just here to give you guys a gift! Uh, maybe a welcoming gift is better?"
"A gift?" Evie asked, fully turning in her seat to face Sage. "Why?"
"Why not?" Sage shrugged, sitting herself in a chair close by and pulling out her purse. "Lets see. . ."
The two VK's watched in amusement as Sage seem to dig around in her small bag forever. "You can fit that much stuff in that small bag?" Mal asked dryly.
"Only when there's an undetectable extension charm on it," Sage replied easily, giving them a wink. "What? Not all magic was put up. Ah, here!"
Sage pulled out two bracelets, both of them gold but with different designs. She walked over to Evie first. "This one is for you!" She smiled, giving the golden vines to Evie. Three gold vines braided together with a red gem every other line settling in the middle of the vines. The red gem even have small leaves, making them seem like apples.
"And this one is for you!" Sage walked over to Mal and handed her another gold bracelet. This one had a dragon head on one side, brilliant green gems in there as eyes. The body of the dragon was just a thick chain that connected to a tail or sorts before blending into the circle that the dragon held in its jaws.
"Where'd you buy these at?" Evie said in awe, glancing over Mal's bracelet before admiring hers. "These are beautiful!"
"I made them!" Sage said proudly, her smile growing wider now that Evie seem to love her design.
"You made these?!"
"Yup! I can make bracelets, necklaces, earrings, bows, hairties, scrunchies, and I'm starting to work on tiara's!" Sage listed. "So. . .You you like them?"
"Like them? I love them!"
"They are pretty wicked," Mal agreed slowly, choosing her words carefully. Wouldn't want to show too much emotion, now would we?
"Thanks!"
"Come here," Evie suddenly demanded, moving a chair closer to her and her sewing machine. "You should help me complete this outfit!"
"If you don't mind me staying a bit longer," Sage said, looking over to Mal, who clearly just wanted Evie and herself. But the said blue-haired Princess spoke before the purple-haired fairy could.
"Of course we don't mind!"
"Go ahead and stay, once Evie starts something, she won't stop," Mal scoffed, shaking her head and going back to drawing. It didn't escape Sage's eye though that Mal had put the golden dragon around her wrist.
"Alright," Sage agreed, sitting next to Evie as the princess started to sew again.
"So, I want this is be a blue dress, of course, but with white lacing near the neck and golden designs." Evie said towards Sage. Another knock was at the door. Mal let out a groan, rolled off the bed, and opened the door again. "Could you make some earrings to go along with it?"
"Some red earrings?" Sage asked, watching as Jane marched her way into the room with a scowl on her face.
"Yes! Just what I was thinking! Do you think you could make them tear-dropped?" Evie asked, glancing over at the daughter of Snow White.
"Is the grass green?" Sage scoffed lightly with a big grin.
"So you will?!"
"Duh!"
"Mom said, 'If a boy can't see the beauty within, then he's not worth it.' Can you believe it?" Jane complained to Mal, who laid on her bed, back to drawing again. Sage tilted her head at the new hairstyle Jane was sporting. It looked good. "What world does she live in?"
"Auradon," Mal scoffed. Evie stopped her sewing, holding up the blue dress she's been working on.
"Mal, do you like?"
"Yeah. It's cute." Mal glanced up. "It brings out your eyes."
"I know," Evie sighed, started to work on the finer details. Sage giggled at her response, digging through her bag to see if she brought anything to start working on.
"I'll never get a boyfriend," Jane groaned, sitting down on Evie's bed.
"Who need boys," Sage scoffed.
"Boyfriends are overrated." Mal agreed.
"And how would you know, Mal? You've never had one." Evie teased.
"It's 'cause I don't need one, E." Mal added on, "They're a waste of time."
Evie suddenly gasped, pushing her chair back and rushing over to her bag. "I forgot to do Chad's homework! Oh, no! No, no, no!"
"And that is exactly what I mean." Mal pointed out.
"Please don't tell me that's what he asked you to do on that note, did he?" Sage groaned out with a roll of her eyes. "Evie, he's just using you!"
"He is not," Evie defended the Charming boy. "He said he was overworked, and needed help."
"Evie, hun, I grew up with Chad. I'm betrothed to him," Sage let out a sigh.
Evie stopped in her tracks. "B-Betrothed?"
"I almost forgot about that," Jane admitted from her spot. "Probably because he messes around with so many other girls."
Yet another knock at the VK's dorm room and a figure came marching in with a big smile. "Hey, guys! I'm Lonnie. My mom's Mulan?"
Sage waved at Lonnie. She did have a few classes with the girl herself.
"No? Anyways, I love what you've done with Jane's hair," Lonnie started. "And I know you hate us, and well, you're evil."
"Lonnie!"
"But do you think you could do mine?" Lonnie asked.
"Why would I do that for you?" Mal deadpanned, looking up at Lonnie.
"I'll pay you fifty dollars," Lonnie held up her purse.
"Good answer," Evie snatched the bag out of Lonnie's hand. "I need to buy more material. Lets see, I'm thinking, we lose the bangs, maybe some layers and some highlights."
"Yeah, yeah, I want it cool," Lonnie agreed. "Like Mal's."
"Really? The split ends, too?" Evie asked. Mal dropped her pencil at the jab, but Evie waved the bag of money around. Mal groaned, rolled off the bed yet again, and stood in front of Lonnie.
Sage watched curiously, munching on a pear she found in her bag. Pears and apples were her favorite. Evie looked at Sage in confusion.
"Where'd you get that?" Sage waved her bag. "Oh."
"You want one?"
"Nope,"
"Okay. . ." Mal flipped open her book. "Beware, forswear, replace the old with cool hair." Mal recited, swished her finger around, and with that, Lonnie's hair grew long and curled. Her bangs were no longer there, and the headband she wore for some reason switched sides.
Sage stood up in surprise, walking after Lonnie as the warrior girl looked at herself in the mirror. Evie followed as well.
"I know, I know," Evie started. "It looks like a mop on your head. You know what, lets cut it off, layer it--"
"No, no, no!" Lonnie interrupted. "I love it."
"You do?"
"It's just. . ." Lonnie glanced down at her dress and rip it slightly. Sage's eyes widen in surprise and she choke on her snack. "Now I'm cool."
"Like ice," Mal chimed.
Jane walked over, looking at herself in the mirror. With a quick glance at Lonnie's ripped skirt, Jane herself did the same thing on the other side. Jane gasped loudly.
"What did I just do? Mom's going to kill me!"
Lonnie laughed lightly, while Sage shook her head. "Come on girls, lets leave these two alone." Sage gently nudged the two other princesses out of the room before turning back to Evie. "I'll get you your earrings as soon as possible."
"Thank you," Evie smiled as Sage rounded the corner, a distant look in her eyes.
