Sage paced besides the older prince as they waited for the limo that would deliver the villain's kids. Fairy Godmother was waiting patiently behind them as Ben watched Sage in amusement and Audrey in annoyance.
"Keeping pacing like that and you'll dig yourself into the ground," Ben joked, making Sage pause.
"If only," Audrey muttered, but the other two easily ignored her.
"I just can't wait!" Sage cheered, jumping slightly. Her hands clapped together excitedly behind staying together. Her blue bag bounced on her hip as a reminder that it was there. "We've been waiting for so long for this moment, and it's finally happening!"
"You're going to end up scaring them with your excitement," Ben laughed. That only seem to vex Audrey more.
Ever since Audrey and Ben started to date she seem to have a burning hatred for Sage. It confused her to no end, and as much as she wanted to be friends with everyone, she knew that not everyone will actually like her. Especially when her secret came out. Or, when she came out.
Ben and Audrey made a cute look-at couple but (although Sage would never say it out loud) Audrey was only dating Ben for status and looks. Nothing more, nothing less.
"Okay, okay," Sage started to ramble. "You know what? I'm just gonna stand on your right side and eat. Yeah, that sounds good."
"You do that, Sage," Ben chuckled, rolling his eyes as Sage pulled an apple out of her blue bag and started to munch on it.
"An apple? Really?" Audrey rose an eyebrow.
"What? They're good!" Sage defended herself, taking a big bite of the red apple to prove her point. Audrey scoffed.
The black haired beaut looked around the entrance of the school they were standing in. There was students littering the yard as they waited for the new arrivals, chatting with each other. Some people held welcome signs and posters with their school emblem on them.
The marching band was in front of the small group, tuning their instruments and going over last minute things. Sage would be in the marching band, playing a flute, but Chad forbid her from doing that.
"I don't want to marry someone who was in a marching band. That's just geeky."
So, she joined the cheer team.
Sage had fun as a cheerleader - she was a flyer and proud of it! But, she loved to play her flute and piccolo. Sadly, it was only a pass time to mess around with in the quiet of her own bedroom or an unused classroom.
"They're coming!" Someone called out, and the band instantly started their peppy tune. People started to wave and cheer, flashing signs and twirling little flags on the stick. The limo that was bring the new students came around the corner, and stopped just in from of the marching band.
Sage didn't really see what happened, but the band suddenly stopped their music. Voices rose from in front of them, beyond the band, and Fairy Godmother easily pushed her way through. Sage, Ben, and Audrey followed behind shortly.
"You got everything else! Why do you want whatever this is?"
"'Cause you want it!"
"No!"
"Guys, guys, guys!" One of the villain kids snapped. "We have an audience."
It was the first time that Sage actually gotten a good look at the new kids. They were dressed in mitch-match articles of clothing, looking worn and torn. Sage easily looked over everyone of them before stopping at a certain girl. Her eyes widen in shock and her mouth slightly dropped.
Before her was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. Her navy blue hair fell around her shoulders in curls and her lips were a plump pink. Her dark blue eyes seem to travel over everything in excitement before landing on Sage herself.
Instantly, Sage's face went red. She got caught staring at the beautiful girl. That's embarrassing.
Of course, the purple haired girl next to her was absolutely beautiful, too, but something about the blue-haired dame drew her in.
"Just cleaning up," The slightly toned boy with a red beanie on laughed, helping the black, white, and red boy on the ground to stand up.
"Leave it like you found it!" Fairy Godmother said in a sing-song voice before adding, "and by that, I mean just leave it."
Beanie boy threw everything in his hands back into the limo before sauntering up to Audrey. "Hello, Foxy," He greeted. "That name's Jay."
Audrey laughed, not really sure about what else to do, but looked a bit disturbed. This time, Sage snorted. Eyes wide, she quickly covered it up with a cough. The blue-haired beaut across from her giggled.
"Welcome to Auradon Prep," Fairy Godmother stepped in between Jay and Audrey. "I'm Fairy Godmother, headmistress."
"The Fairy Godmother?" The girl with purple hair asked. "As in, bibbidi-bobbidi-boo ?"
"Bibbidi-bobbidi, you know it!"
"Yeah, I always wondered what it felt like for Cinderella when you just appeared, out of no where, with that sparkly wand and warm smile. And that sparkling wand."
"Oh, that was a long time ago. And as I always say, Don't focus on the past or you'll miss the future." Fairy Godmother smiled brightly, doing some hand movements that even made Sage wince.
"It's so good to finally meet you all," Ben started, stepping forwards. Audrey and Sage easily got in step with him. "I'm Ben."
"Prince Benjamin," Audrey corrected quickly. "Soon to be king!"
"You had me at prince," The blue-haired girl swayed forward and curtsy a little."My mom's a Queen, which makes me a Princess."
"The Evil Queen has no royal status here," Audrey informed harshly. "And neither do you."
The Blue Princess's face fell and she started to sway pass, before Sage intervened.
"Actually, Audrey!" Sage said, smiling at her like she wasn't about to contradict her. "The Evil Queen has just as much royal status here as you or I, so that automatically makes her a Princess. I mean, unless you want to really go into the royal status around here. . ."
Audrey narrowed her chocolate eyes at Sage but said nothing, knowing better than to appose Sage. After all, Sage was a White, and practically King Adam's and Queen Belle's daughter.
Sage only smiled wider, turning back towards the Blue Princess. Her face had brighten and she smiled gratefully. "Sorry about that," Sage apologized, lowering herself into a curtsy. "My name is Sage. Princess Sage, if you must. Who are you, lovely?"
"Princess Evie. But you can call me Evie," The blue-haired girl went into a curtsy as well and they two of them never broke eye-contact as they stood straight again and stepped back.
"This is Audrey," Ben tried to defuse the tension between his best friend and girlfriend. "And of course, Sage,"
"Princess Audrey," Audrey interrupted, taking a hold of his hand. "His girlfriend. Right, Bennyboo?" Ben looked uncomfortable to say the least.
"Ben, Audrey, and Sage are going to show you all around, and I'll see you tomorrow." Fairy Godmother grasped Ben and Audrey's arms gently, pulled them apart and continued, "The doors of wisdom are never shut! But the library hours are from eight 'o' clock to eleven. As you may have heard, I have a little thing about curfews."
Clearly done with her introduction, Fairy Godmother started to walk back to the school. The band followed behind her single file. Sage and Doug gave each other a high-five as he passed.
Once the band was done, Ben started to walk towards the new kids, cutting the space in between them down. Sage quickly followed and Audrey was a little bit behind.
"It's so, so, so good to finally me-meet you all," Ben started, stumbling over his words as Jay gave him a chest punch in greeting. When Ben moved onto the next person, Sage thrust her hand in front of Jay.
"Sage," The Princess greeted.
"Jay," The beanie kid responded, lifting her hand to his mouth and giving it a light kiss.
"Not my time," Sage smiled, slipping her hand out of his grasp.
"This is a momentous occasion," Bent started again, after giving the purple haired girl a long handshake.
"Sage," The Princess stuck her hand half-way out, letting the other girl know she didn't have to shake it.
"Mal," She said slowly, grasping Sage's hand firmly and shaking it.
"And one that I hope will go down in history. . . " Ben shook the next kid's hand before bring his hand back. "Is that chocolate?"
"Sage," Honestly, this was tiring to her, and repetitive, but she was always told that introducing herself one on one showed respect.
"Carlos," The chocolate covered boy shook her hand. Sage held her hand up in a 'one minute' gesture before opening her purse and digging around. Finally, she pulling out a yellow hankie, handing it to Carlos with a sweet smile.
"You got a little chocolate. . .everywhere."
"Thanks," Carlos nodded, taking the hankie and started to wipe down his mouth and hands. Sage moved on, smiling at Evie as they shook hands. No need for introductions for them two.
"As the day our two peoples began to heal." Ben finished, taking a step back. Sage reluctantly, pulled her hand back and followed Ben's lead.
"Or the day that you showed four people where the bathrooms are." Mal drawled.
"A little bit over the top?" Ben chuckled, gazing into Mal's eyes.
"Told you to cut it short," Sage teased, jabbing him lightly with her elbow.
"A little more than a little bit."
"Well, so much for my first impression," Ben said, making the two of them laugh as they gazed at each other. Sage bit back a grin.
"Hey! You're Maleficent's daughter, aren't you?" Audrey stepped in between the two's staring contest. "Yeah, you know what? I totally do not blame you for your mother trying to kill my parents and stuff. Oh, my mom's Aurora. Sleeping --"
"Beauty," Mal stepped in with a sarcastic smile. "Yeah, I've heard the name. You know, and I totally do not blame your grandparents for inviting everyone in the whole world but my mother to their stupid christening."
"Water under the bridge."
"Totes!"
The two girls laughed dryly before falling into an unsettling silence. Sage scoffed, avoiding the urge to roll her eyes.
"Really, Audrey? You had to pull that card?"
"What? Little Miss Fairest of Them All can't handle confronting her own problems?" Audrey retorted.
"What the Evil Queen did to my mother wasn't Evie's fault," Sage rolled her shoulders back to make herself taller, even with her wedges on. "I'm not going to condone someone for their parent's mistake."
"Wait," Evie furrowed her eyebrows. "You're--"
"Sage White, daughter of Snow White," Sage turned towards Evie with her sweet smile. "Don't worry, I'll treat you like an actual Princess."
"But she's--"
"Okay!" Ben exclaimed, pushing himself between his best friend and girlfriend. Sage White didn't have a short temper, she barely got mad at anyone. But when she gets mad, all hell breaks loose. "So, how about a tour? Yeah?"
"Auradon Prep," Sage started off as Ben lead the group away. "Originally built over three hundred years ago and converted into a high school when Ben's father became King."
As they started to walk past the statue of King Adam, the Auradon natives stopped. Ben clapped his hands, and the statue of King Adam turned into what Sage suspected his Beast Form looked like.
A girly scream made Sage look back, to see Carlos had jumped into Jay's arms in fear.
"Carlos, it's okay," Ben assured. "My father wanted his statue to morph from beast to man to remind us that anything is possible."
"Does he shed much?" Mal asked.
"Yeah, Mom won't let him on the couch." Ben answered.
"It's actually pretty funny," Sage giggled as Ben started to lead the way again. Audrey clung to his arm like a kola to a tree as they entered the school they all went to now.
"So you guys have a lot of magic here in Auradon?" Mal asked curiously. "Like wands and things like that?"
"Yeah, it exists of course, but it's pretty much retired." Ben answered, casting an amused look towards Sage. "Most of us here are just ordinary mortals."
"Who happened to be Kings and Queens," The purple-haired beauty retorted.
"That's true," Audrey chirped, wrapping Ben's arm around her. "Our royal blood goes back hundreds of years."
"Doug!" Ben exclaimed, unwrapping his arm from around Audrey and rushing towards the stairs. "Doug, come down."
"Hey, Doug!" Sage greeted warmly as the boy stopped at the bottom of the stairs. Holding his marching hat under his arm, Sage and Doug did they handshake, bumping chests at the end.
"This is Doug," Ben introduced, wrapping his arm around Doug's shoulders, including Sage as well. "He's going to help you with your class schedules and show you the rest of the dorms." The future king dropped his arm and walked closer to the group of villain kids. "I'll see you later, okay? If there is anything you need, feel free to--"
"Ask Doug or Sage," Audrey cut in, sending a tight smile. Both Mal and her did that laugh like earlier, ending in a sigh, before Audrey walked off, dragging Ben with her.
"Hi, guys. I'm Dopey's son," Doug started, "As in Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, and. . ." Sage rose an eyebrow, watching as Doug trailed off and stared at Evie. "Heigh-ho."
"Evie," The girl herself introduced. "Evil Queen's daughter."
Seeing as Doug wasn't going to continue, Sage sharply elbowed him in the side.
"Okay!" Doug said with a jump, "So about your classes, I, uh, put in the requirements already. History of Woodsmen and Pirates, Safety Rules For the Internet, and, uh, Remedial Goodness 101."
"Let me guess," Mal unwrapped a small candy and ate it. "New class?"
"Sadly," Sage sent a small smile to them.
"Come on, guys, let's go find out dorms." Mal ordered, the small group starting to walk up the wrong flight of stairs.
"Oh, uh, yeah, your dorms are that way, guys." Doug pointed to the other stair case.
"Come along, I'll show ya the way!" Sage chirped, starting to walk off. She heard the small villain group started to back track and follow the perky princess.
Sage couldn't help but been hyper-aware that Evie was right behind her, and gaining ground so they were now walking side-by-side.
"So, Daughter of Snow White, what's it like to be the Fairest of Them All?" Evie asked, seemingly curious. Sage giggled, shaking her head.
"Oh, darling, no. I'm the farthest person from being the Fairest of Them All," Sage admitted, her bright eyes taking in Evie. "But, if I can say, you have a much better chance than me,"
"Even as the Evil Queen's daughter?" Evie said rather stiffly, her posture becoming rigid.
"Being the Evil Queen's daughter doesn't define you," Sage suddenly stopped walking, grasping Evie's hand as well to make her stop. Her grip wasn't hard, so Evie could slip her hand out if she felt uncomfortable. "Whatever you do, however you act - that's what defines you."
The two young girls stared deeply into each other's eyes - one trying to detect a lie, the other trying to memorize the exactly color. After a moment, Sage smiled and turned towards the other kids.
"Ladies, your room is right here. Gents, you room is going to be down this hall, first door on your right. I hope you guys find this place comfortable, design to your liking."
With one last sweet smile to each villain, Sage turned on her toes and started to walk back the way they came. There was a slight skip in her step when she realized that a certain someone was staring after her.
