39 Shashi's plan
Part 39 Shashi's plan
Shashi was shocked to the core, seeing his father's lifeless body in the photos. He remembered what his father said during their last meeting, 'I'M AT THE END OF MY LIFE.' Did his life end? He faced a tough time to control his emotions. After all, he was his father. He managed himself put in a lot of effort.
"What's your point, Aman?" he asked sitting straight.
"Sir, this Aghori had been protecting wolves like his kids. That made the people call him WOLF BABA. When we checked the cave in which he lived, we found a gun with silver bullets there"
Shashi was thunderstruck.
"Silver bullets?" He asked not showing his shock.
"Yes, sir, he was a man who loved wolves as his kids. Then, why did he have silver bullets with him that were the only source to kill the werewolf?"
Shashi was suffocated. He didn't expect Aman would know the details about the werewolf.
"He had the silver bullets... so?"
"So, the wolf Baba would have known something about the werewolf's existence. That was why he kept the gun with silver bullets with him. So, there are chances for the werewolf to be involved in the murder. It might have killed the man, sir"
"Without any evidence, how could you be so sure of it?"
"I will get the evidence if you give me permission, sir. I would like to give it a try. I hope I can catch the killer, sir"
"Ok... go ahead..." Shashi said.
"Thank you, sir"
Shashi nodded yes and Aman left the place.
Shashi closed his face with his palms. His father passed away, as he told. He wanted Aman to inquire about the case because he too wanted to know if the werewolf was in the area. Of course, he knew the werewolf had existed because he knew his father cursed a boy. So, the werewolf would be somewhere else. Shashi was the one who gave the gun with silver bullets to his father because he thought the boy who was cursed by his father might attack him at any time. To save his father from the cursed boy, he got the gun using his influence and gave it to his father.
Shashi didn't expect, Aman to doubt the werewolf's existence by connecting the dots. If he could do that, there was a chance for the werewolf to be in the area. He wanted to make sure of it. That was why he permitted Aman to take the case forward. He wanted to know who was the boy cursed by his father.
Evening
Khushi came home and wondered seeing his father at home earlier. Shashi was leaning on the couch, closing his eyes, thinking about his father. Khushi sat next to him and said,
"Dad... pinch me..."
Shashi looked at her and Khushi was panicked to see his stressed face. She had never seen him that way before.
"What happened, Dad?"
"Your grandfather..."
Khushi's facial expression changed.
"My grandfather?"
"He... passed away..." he said feeling distraught.
"Whaaaat?" Khushi jumped off the couch and stood with a horrible expression.
Shashi nodded yes.
"But how?"
"Natural death... he told me about it when he met me last time. As he said, he left the world..."
"Then, what about the boy?" she asked shockingly.
"Who?" he frowned.
"The boy he cursed..."
Shashi was stuck. The reason for her shock was not his father's death but the cursed boy...!
"He would have been recovered..." Shashi said trying to make it up.
"Noooo..." she shouted.
Shashi looked at her frowning. Khushi made up herself and said,
"What if he had not? What will happen to him? What about his future? If your father knew he was going to die, why the hell he didn't give a solution to the boy?"
"He would have given, beta..."
"If he had given the solution, he would have told you about it, instead he would not have repented for cursing him"
"Khushi, your grandfather is dead. Instead of feeling sad for him, you are fighting for a boy who has nothing to do with us"
"So...? will your father curse anyone who is not related to him? How could he be so heartless?"
"Khushi, you are unnecessarily losing your patience. This is not important to you"
"How could you say so? Will you react in the same way if someone curses me?"
Shashi rolled his eyes.
"Why Dad...? Is not justice the same for all?"
"We will try to do something about it later... now, we should think of my father. Nothing else..."
"Why should I think about him?"
"He is our family, Khushi..."
"The boy also belongs to a family. What about them?"
Shashi gulped down hard.
"I don't want to think about the man who doesn't care about other's feelings. I hate him from the bottom of my heart. I hate him, Dad..." She walked to her room furiously, leaving Shashi helpless.
Shashi sat on the couch sighing high and dry. He didn't know how to console Khushi. He didn't think deeply about her outburst. She was a granny's girl. That was why she reacted this way. He supposed.
On the other side, Khushi was crying bitterly. She didn't know what was she going to do. She thought she could do something about Arnav's curse if she found her grandfather. She had hoped, her grandfather would give a solution to Arnav's recovery if he got to know the cursed boy was her boyfriend. Everything was destroyed now. Her grandfather was no more. Would Arnav be like this for his whole life? Won't he be recovered ever? Didn't he have a choice other than to live this painful life?
"I'm sorry, Arnav... I'm sorry..." She mumbled.
She wiped her tears. If it was so, her decision to submit herself to him was not wrong. The diamond should be cut with the diamond. It was her responsibility to lift him from the curse given by his grandfather. As she said, she would be there for him to soothe him after every painful FULLMOON night. She felt pain in her heart thinking about Arnav's painful condition.
...........
Arnav reached home and was surprised to see the bike he was supposed to buy. His father bought it for him. he entered home, smiling pleasantly.
Arvind forwarded the bike key to him.
"Thanks, Dad" Arnav took the key from him smilingly.
"All the best..."
Arnav came out and started the bike. He went for a round and came home.
"Chotte, if you want to show this to your FRIEND, you can go," Ratna said.
Arnav nodded no and went inside with a smile. Arvind and Ratna looked at each other disappointedly. They thought Arnav would like to go to Khushi's house to show the bike. But they didn't know Arnav had another plan to show the bike to Khushi. If he went to her home, he could not take her for a ride but he could do it easily in the college. So, he skipped the idea of meeting her and decided to do that the next day but he could not hold himself from calling her.
Khushi saw his number flashing. She wiped her face and sat straight. Making herself, she attended the call with a smile.
"Hi..." She said briskly.
"Khushi, do you know how you changed my life?" He asked and Khushi closed her eyes in guilt even though she was not the reason for his miserable life.
"Did you go home all the way thinking about me?" She asked.
"I'm always thinking about you on my life journey"
"What happened that you sound emotional?"
"I just thought about how I had been before you arrived in my life. Don't you know how I was?"
"My life has also changed a lot after your arrival Arnav. I never had one for myself even though I have been surrounded by many friends every time. You gave me the feeling that I have someone who protects me from all the storms. You made my life worthy. You gave me a reason to live... and..."
Cutting him,
"Khushi, what happened to you? you said I sound emotional but you are doing the same now" he smiled.
"I too have emotions, Arnav...! Whenever I think about you, I become emotional. I don't know why"
"But I know..."
Khushi was silent.
"It's because I'm a werewolf"
She gulped down hard.
"You are feeling depressed about my painful life, right?"
"How won't I be?"
"Khushi, you are with me. no problem can knock me if you are with me. I will overcome anything, Khushi"
"I promise I will be with you... always. No matter what"
"That's enough for me to forget all my grief. I will be happy with you,"
"Do you want me to come to your house right away?"
Arnav chuckled and said,
"I called you to tell you something"
"Really? Tell me, why did you call me"
"I have a surprise for you"
"Surprise? What surprise?"
"Khushi, it won't be a surprise if I told you now" he smiled.
"When will you open it up to me?" she asked excitedly.
"Tomorrow"
"Is it?"
"Yes..."
"Oh my God... I'm excited to know the surprise"
"Wait for a night... you will get to know that tomorrow"
"Ok..."
"Good night"
"Good night" Khushi disconnected the call. She was satisfied at least she could make Arnav happy.
On the other side, Shashi was thinking about how to do his father's funeral. Of course, he didn't want to declare the wolf man as his father. At the same time, as a son, he wanted to complete his responsibility. He wanted Khushi to attend his father's funeral. After all, she was the only heir of their family. He knew she would not agree to it as she was angry with his father. So, he decided to get Arnav's help to achieve it because he knew Khushi would not say NO to Arnav, and Arnav would bring Khushi to his father's funeral if he requested him.
To be continued...
