Chapter 2 (Part 1)
The steps in making a potion to keep all ghosts indoors was an all-nighter. But luck wasn't on the side of the wizard, neither was it on the pervert's.
The wizard, with the help of his irritated brother the pervert, still couldn't get the potion right. Currently, the wizard needed that potion more than anything. He wanted to be a 100% certain that none of the ghosts would leave the house on a Sunday.
Though, the pervert had promised not to leave the house on a Sunday again and his other brothers wouldn't even dare, the wizard still couldn't leave the house unprotected. Since the pervert left once and had fun, he was sure to continue leaving until the day they all disappeared from the human world forever.
The wizard had said the pervert only had to assist him for the night but since the potion hadn't gone right, he had extended the pervert's stay in his room.
The pervert had never been that upset. It irked him that he was assisting in getting himself imprisoned at home. The wizard wasn't distressed by the anger that was drawn all over the pervert's face, all he cared about was that the pervert was doing whatever he was asked to, right.
While they were at work, the prankster had left the mansion to tour the small but yet virtuous city in a human form. With the help of a potion called human-909po which was made by the wizard, the prankster was able to gain his human form back. But after twelve hours, the potion would erode and he'd be a ghost once more.
The wizard was the third ghost to had succeeded in making a humanise potion; the most powerful and complex potion the ghosts had ever encountered in centuries, after the ghost-killer potion.
The only ghosts who had the powers to make potions were the witches and wizards, and they were very few. The few who were available had come about due to practicing magic tricks when they were still alive. And after their death, the magic tricks became actual magic.
The first ghost who succeeded in making the humanise potion was the ancient one. The ancient one was the ruler of the southern ghostdom and the first ghost to had lived over 109 years. Usually, after a ghost had lived over 109 years, he disappears from ghostdom into the greatest void; abyss - never to be seen or heard from again.
The ghosts generated a phobia of the greatest void. A day after 109 years was like dying twice, and that was the greatest fear of all ghosts who had lived past a century.
None wanted to feel what dying twice was like, they all wanted to live forever like the ancient one and there was a way to live like him. But no ghosts had ever succeeded in the way he went; the northern part of the ghostdom that was now ruled by their greatest enemy, Ganga.
The ancient one had managed to get the fruit of eternity before his enemy Ganga, took over the tree that produced the magical fruit once in a century.
A few obstinate ghosts from the southern part of ghostdom had traveled to the northern part of ghostdom, through a magical tree that was only found in the southern part of ghostdom and was the only way to get to the north, but none came back to tell the tale.
There were a few made up stories. Some were; Ganga had imprisoned them in her ghost-cage, she had transformed them into ghost animals, and that she had ordered her men to force the ghost-killer potion down their gorges, sending them to the greatest void before their time.
Most believed the tales they were told but a few didn't. Those who didn't, had no idea that Ganga had succeeded in making the ghost-killer potion; the same potion the ancient one had tried making a thousand times but all was to no avail.
The bloody-minded ruler Ganga, had made enough of the potion and was ready to pour it on or force it down the gorges of any southern ghosts that was caught in the northern part. If only the northern part of ghostdom had the magical tree that could teleport them to the southern part of ghostdom, Ganga and her men would have invaded the southern part a long time ago and take them all down. The evil queen gave orders to her men in the human world to pour the ghost-killer potion on any southern ghost they laid their eyes on.
The ancient one soon started getting a lot of reports that most of the ghosts had gone missing. He figured Ganga and the ghost-killer potion had everything to do with it. Therefore, he made a rule to keep the southern ghosts safe. No ghosts on earth were allowed to leave the building they stayed in unless it was their recess; a day he'd give them the humanise potion. He hoped the evil queen and her men wouldn't notice them in a human form, and luckily they went by unnoticed.
The fact that the southern ghosts had succeeded in eluding from the northern ghosts' grip, vexed Ganga. She wanted them all in the greatest void for she hated them with so much passion.
Well she hated everyone; including the ghosts in northern - but her daughter Polly, who was a witch just like her. Polly had died a couple of years before her mum. Out of jealousy, her stepsister had poisoned her on her 16th birthday, sending her to her early grave.
With the deadly passion to haunt her stepsister and complete the life she didn't get to complete, like every other ghosts on earth, her soul generated the powers of being able to teleport to earth and back to ghostdom anytime it pleases her.
She hadn't spent 2 years in ghostdom when she found the fruit of eternity and made the humanise potion, making her the second ghost to had ever made one.
After making her stepsister taste the feel of death, she moved to another city and continued living on earth like a human. For the past 3 centuries she had lived on earth, not a single soul had discovered that she never aged, for she moved from state to state after each 3 years.
With the pervert and wizard occupied by works, and the prankster touring the city, the Richardson enjoyed a normal morning in the haunted mansion.
They spent their morning tidying up their various rooms for they couldn't imagine another night in an extremely messy and dusty room.
While cleaning, the Richardson had encountered several ancient stuff that was no longer used and a few that was rarely known. Thinking those ancient stuff were owned by the Johnsons, they found the couple a little bit odd. How could such a young and lovely couple own such ancient stuff? In time, they bounced those thoughts off and focused on minding their businesses.
Every single rubbish and belongings of the ghosts, including a few pictures of them that they had found in their rooms, were dragged out and swiftly thrown in the dustbin until the bin man comes.
When Mildred was tidying up her room, she had found a photo lying in the corner of her couch. The photo was really old. It was coloured in black and white unlike the usual photo colours. In the photo was a man, a pregnant woman, and 4 teenage boys. Mildred admired the beauty of the woman in the photo. Of course, the man and the boys were still cute, but there was something about the woman that terminated her from having the photo thrown away. She decided to keep it. She kept it in a safe place; her drawer.
While those were going on, the pervert was in a haste to leave the wizard's room and see for himself what mess those humans were creating. But the wizard had said no to him leaving. Though, the wizard could hear noises coming from the next door which was the pervert's room, he still didn't have a change of heart.
The pervert had promised to get back on assisting his brother after making sure the Richardson wasn't destroying his room, but his brother still declined. The pervert partly caused that upon himself. He always broke his promises that he had lost his elder brother's trust.
After grumbling and vexing, the pervert gave up and concentrated on helping his brother get the potion done soon. And also to prevent getting on his brother's nerves.
The Richardson were having a good time planning on their outing. They had planned on having a family time today, since it has been awhile they last did.
Mildred has been happy since she got the thrilling news. She wore her finest gown and was rushing downstairs when her father's phone rang. Whenever it did, they tend to need him at work.
She sighed and slowly walked towards her parents, waiting for them to apologize before leaving.
"Yes, yes, yes," Those were the only words her father said before hanging up.
He turned towards his daughter, "Honey, I'm so sorry but we've got to go," her father's apologies were sincere. The look on his ocean blue eyes described how tired he was of letting his daughter down, but he couldn't just quit his job.
"You can go. At least I have sometime to tour this epicurean mansion." Mildred faked quite a convincing smile. But her parents knew her like the back of their hands. She couldn't deceive them with those convincing smiles of hers.
Her mother rushed towards her, pulling her into a hug. She kissed her forehead, "Take care, Milly darling. We'll be back on time for dinner, okay?"
Mildred nodded, still in her mother's embrace. After a minute, her father was forced to pull them apart. If he didn't, they could stay in that exact position for hours. They didn't forget about Mladen. He still got a few kisses and hugs from both his parents before they left.
Mladen who found no interest in talking walked straight into his room, shutting the door behind him. Mildred let out a sigh and walked back upstairs. She walked into her room, changed into a more comfortable dress and threw herself on her bed.
"Okay, that's it!" the wizard roared. No matter how many times he had tried making the potion, he still couldn't get it right.
"So, can I leave now?" the pervert inquired.
"Yeah, whatever."
"Please take this manacles-like bangles off my ankles, will ya?"
"No." The wizard shook his head. The pervert couldn't understand why his brother refused to remove the bangles after he had done everything he was asked to. "I'll remove it once I get back if you haven't done anything stupid."
"But there are humans in our house. I need to scare them off," he growled. "By the way, get back from where?"
"You will once I get back from ghostdom. I need to know why I can't get the potion right." With a snap of his fingers, the wizard disappeared.
The angry pervert hit the table with a full force. The anger boiling in him made the bang audible to humans. Mildred who was next door heard it.
'What was that?' she thought to herself.
She stood up from her bed. She was curious on what had made that bang. It couldn't be a mouse. She quietly headed out of her room and straight towards the next room the bang had come from.
"Mladen?" she paused, waiting for a respond. When she got no respond as expected, she opened the door and peeped in. After analysing the room, she walked in, shutting the door behind her. That was the first time she had actually entered the room.
She switched on the light to make it easier for her eyes to examine the room. There were cobwebs everywhere and the room was a hot mess. She had wanted to walk out but the little bottles of different colours of potions that was on the table, drew her attention.
She wanted to take a closer look at them. Getting passed the cobwebs wasn't as easy as she had thought. It was a real life struggle. While she was struggling to get through the thick webs, the pervert exited the room through the locked door to checkout his room.
Mildred analysed the potions in the bottles, not understanding what they were. She checked each and every bottle out. They all had different colours.
"What are these?" she muttered, still staring at them. She had never seen anything like that before.
The pervert was shocked at seeing his room. What the hell has the Richardson done to his room? Where was his stuff? Especially the photo he had taken with his parents? Just where was it? He tried searching for it but he needed his powers to help him. He was addicted to using his powers now. Without it, he was basically useless; he could do nothing.
He dashed out of his room, heading straight to his brother's room to meet Mildred. The force he used in passing through the door was audible. It sounded more like a knock. Turning around to see who it was, Mildred's hand mistakenly hit one of the potions. The potion trembled, rolling off the table. The girl tried catching it but failed. The potion landed on the ground, broken.
"Shit!" she cussed. "Thank goodness it ain't something useful."
The pervert smiled. His joy knew no bounds. That was the best thing that had happened to him all day. He wouldn't have to waste his time on her. Once his brother got back, she'd be doomed. No one had the balls to spill his potions.
The teenage girl turned around and walked out of the room. She walked back into her room and threw herself on her bed. If the house wasn't so dusty and filled with cobwebs, she'd have been able to tour the house and at least have some fun. What a shame.
Out of boredom, she dozed off.
Hours went by before the wizard finally came back home. The pervert did the honour of breaking the news that Mildred spilled one of his potions. That wretch of a girl had finally given him more than enough reason to hate on her.
The angry wizard summoned his brothers, "Get ready to take that bitch down anyhow you can."
^Love, Naomi^
