Chapter 4

Mei stepped quickly in a straight line like the thousands of people around her. A gloom sinking on her shoulders as the cars just feet away wizzed by with horns filling the air. Castelia sounds mingled with droning voices on the high screens above and the people below chittering like ratatta. Her blue eyes that once gleamed like the sky where the sun would be held now were dull and dusted while on her ring finger a silver band sat. The hand which bore the ring clutched at her yellow bag as the 27 year old woman let out a breath, moving with the rest of the crowd.

The woman's heart sunk as a memory flashed of her hometown. How at this time of the year, Aspertia City would be in full blossom of the spring cherry. Then the city car fumes smogged her mind as Mei coughed harshly. All around her were just high rising buildings and paved streets with only silver and bronze. No more beauty from her childhood memories, which flickered behind her eyes on days like these.

With each lucid step she took, the faces that moved by were mere blurs that would never be sagnificant to her. Despite this, one man in the swarming crowd broke out of the trend. His pale features complimenting his cranberry eyes which hung with the same boredom that swelled within Mei's heart on the streets. His hair which tossed like crashing waves in a storm were painted a dark midnight blue.

His and Mei's shoulders brushed like bird's wings as the man continued on. Though the contact sent a small static though the brunette to the point she turned to face against the flow, her mouth drawn open just slightly. Her voice called out meakly into the ocean of the golden city, "Hyuu!"

Her heart sunk as the man continued on, thinking he wasn't really the person she was calling for. And then a mist of blur began to obscond the man's back. Another person who had been haulted by Mei's cry ushered the woman on. She turned with dissapointment to walk to her destination.

Mei finally arrived to appartment building and pushed in the key.

"Mommy!" A girl cried with blue hair trailing behind her head. She leapt into her mother's open arms and giggled like the small four year old she was.

A man whose silver eyes glinted paced over, his face clearer than anyone's she had met. He leaned and pecked her on the cheek, "Hey, Mei. Welcome home."

Mei smiled as her heart fluttered just like it had when they had their first kiss. She gave the ace trainer a swift peck back, "Nice to be back, Fabio."

She was happy. Yet there are still endless possibilities.

Like if she had just waited a few more seconds on the streets calling the name of her neighbor, the man would have turned around at the point of hearing his name. His name from the one voice he could never forget. Though all he twisted around to find was the crowd that constantly chattered with nothing ever to be of future importance. Hyuu let out a deep sigh before continuing back forward the way he went.

There to meet for his next training meet with the artist and gym leader Burgh. Perfecting his skills as the new champion of Unova.

Still.

Now Mei and Hyuu shall just be: strangers passing by.
