Chapter 3

The boy who now is entering manhood clutched the sparkling invitation in his hand as he took slow steps down the walk. Under his feet were great tiles of golden plates, vibrant writings of names or famous movies inscribed on each. Arching palm trees that bore no coconuts rose high over head, the drooping jungle leaves were covered in thick coats of fluffy slow.

The blunette looked around calmly, though he was in an unfamiliar land of Unova, for a friend.

"Hyuu~! Over here!"

A girl- no, woman now that she is 19, comes racing out waving her arms wildly from the Sound Stage of Pokestar Studios. Her chocolate brown locks tied up in their unforgettable buns, held by curious plaid ties. The outfit she sported was a school girl style. Her white blouse puffing out and over her red plaid skirt that brushed her knees. Half way up the woman's skin were white as the snow around socks covered in black dress shoes.

Once she made it over to her friend she was doubled over panting, her hot breath turning into puffy clouds past her lips. "Hey, Mei." Hyuu said dryly to her, scanning her clothes. "Aren't you cold?"

Mei's heart leapt up before straightening back up to face her old neighbor, "Well, I'm an actress so I'm not supposed to let it show." The red-eyed trainer nodded, his jacket collar brushing the tip of his nose. "Well glad you got my invitation... let me take you to the Stage!" She spoke nervously, her skin feeling the prickling chill of winter.

They both walked slowly, the crowd of thespians and fans swelled and sunk, moving about like little bug-types. Mei shivered slightly and looked back up at her childhood friend whose eyes stayed locked on their destination. "I-it's pretty cold, actually..." She shivered, feeling her heard sink.

"Yeah."

"C-can I..." Mei could practically see the chasm between them. Still she tried to cross, "Can I borrow your jacket? I have been stuck on set for months and it's always so cold." She shook out with a smile. Hyuu froze in step and began to unzip his jacket, tossing it onto Mei carelessly. "Thanks..." She hushed, pulling the jacket over. Mei buried her face into the large white collar and took in a breath, the scent of Hyuu triggering memories from when she was a kid chasing him around Asperita.

I wonder if he still remembers our promise... She giggled with a light blush glowing, though it was hidden by the cone-collar.

Once the two arrived on set, the two took a seat on the couch cushions. Mei snuggled close as she told him about her newest project in film. "So, the newest one called 'Love and Battles'. Intriguing isn't it? The series begins as a Rom-Com. I am the main character who, is very awkward and shy, and  has a boy falling head over heels for her and she doesn't understand. Well the first one, really. In the second, it's still the same character(really though the entire series) but it is a romance drama, basically she falls for this guy hard, but doesn't reach the love. Though the final one... " Her voice turned to silk as the script she continued to read over shook in her hands. "It's a romance tragedy. The main character is at the amusement park to meet her boyfriend when she finds only a ghost of him who had lost his memories." Snapping from her phase she smiled, "It's my favorite and they are processing everything right now! Do you want to go to the premiere with me in the Theater, Hyuu?"

Her voice filled with anticipation, maybe even desperation. Her gaze fixed on the boy she thought she knew everything about for so long.

"No." He told her bluntly.

"W-What...?" Mei breathed, her sinking hues following him as Hyuu rose to his feet, making his way to the exit.

He turned his head over with a straight expression that practically plunged daggers into Mei. "I have training. Return the jacket to my house in Aspertia City soon. I'll pick it up later." The man instructed before pacing out of the building in perfect and even steps.

No hesitation.

What Mei begged to see.

"Hey Mei!" A voice called, trotting down the steps of the Sound Stage. A boy with light blue hair, like clear water, and silver dime eyes came with a pearly grin. "We all ready to head to our premiere? What about the friend you were going to invite?"

Mei gave her actress perfect smile to the Ace Trainer and her co-star in 'Love and Battles', "They couldn't make it, sorry Fabio! But, yep. I'm ready!" She giggled quietly, though fake, rising back to her feet to meet his shoulder in their height difference.

Together they strided from the building to run quickly from the cold into the Theater. Hundreds of people filled the lobby to the brim, whispers of Mei's newest movie. Fabio could sense Mei's tension and whispered close to is co-star, "You alright? Your usually good with premieres. Was it that new friend you were with on the Sound Stage?"

Mei's shoulder's sunk while her head rolled from left to right, "No. A childhood friend."

The actor gazed at her sympathetically as Mei continued to take steps though the fans that expelled excitement. Their feelings bouncing off from the young woman's crestfallen aura. Fabio hesitantly rose an arm before pulling her close in a side hug.

They walked into the darkness of the theater and took their seats.

The crowd wailed as the characters on the screen struck their hearts like arrows with mere words and expressions.

But no one could have wailed louder than Mei Rosa.
