Bee Stings and Summer Flings
For the next few days the five of you were inseparable. Tom would sneak you into the hotel studio so you could still practice dancing despite Zendaya saying that you were on vacation and needed a break. In all honesty, you just liked when Tom would dance with you and put his arms around your waist while you practiced turns. You even met Nikki, at Paddy's request, the kid really seemed to like you so he felt that you needed to meet his mum. Jacob and Harrison would always include you on their shenanigans and pranks they would play on Harry and Zendaya.
The Thursday before you had to head back to New York Harry decided that the group needed to go out to somewhere scenic so he could take pictures to add to his portfolio. Zendaya recommended the LA River Center and Gardens, you packed a bag, the boys changed clothes, and Niki packed you guys a delicious picnic lunch. You were ready to go, you had on a cute pair of high waisted denim shorts, a cute button up shirt, your favorite pair of sunnies, a casual pair of sneakers, and a classic red lip. Tom was sporting a crisp grey shirt that fit loosely off his body but without looking baggy, the sleeves were ever so slightly cuffed and his jeans were faded right around the knees as though they were worn often. Zendaya wore a shirt that flaunted her feminist agenda with a pair or ripped skinny jeans. Harrison and Jacob decided to wear the clothes that had already put on that morning.
After a quick car ride the six of you were there. The surroundings were beautiful, light reflecting iridescently off the fountains, fragrant flower beds lining the brick paths, birds sharing their melodious songs for all to hear. Harry approached you first to take photos. Harry never asked you to pose any specific way, he was very much fascinated in taking candids, or natural shots where the subject didn't look like a mannequin. After what felt like forever, Harry seemed to be done taking photos of you so Tom took this as a moment to give you the beautiful blush pink peony he picked, you smiled and proceeded to stutter when saying thank you. Bringing the flower up to your face to smell it you felt a sharp pinch on your nose.
"Tom, I think a bee just stung my nose."
"Oh shoot, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, just stings a little. It will probably swell some, but don't worry it's not bad."
"I feel really bad about it, please let me make it up."
"Well, you could always kiss it to make it better," you joked.
Tom smiled, understanding it was a joke. You turned your head away in embarrassment, your cheeks turning the same color as the inflamed spot on your nose. Tom saw this and put his hand under your chin turning you to face him, tilting your face slightly upwards he leaned down and kissed the very tip of your nose.
"Better," he asked.
"Much better."
The day continued on, all of you enjoying yourselves, you savouring the last bits of California sun before heading back to apartment in Hell's Kitchen, and life returning to normal. As the day wound down the group decided to crash the pool at the hotel the boys were staying at. Before heading over you and Zendaya swung by her house really quick to pick up your swimsuits and to refill water bottles. When the two of you arrived at the pool Tom, Harrison, Harry, and Jacob were already swimming, splashing around, acting like teenage boys. You thought about swimming but you also wanted so desperately to finish the book you were reading. You decided that the book had higher priority so you sat on a chair book and began to read.
"Hey (Y/N), come in the pool, the water's fine," Tom shouted.
"Yeah, Tommy boy here wants to see how hot you look in a swimsuit," Harrison said while Tom elbowed him, his face beet red.
"Alright boys, let me finish this page and then I will."
Keeping your word you finished the page and closed the book, sitting it in your bag to prevent it from getting wet. Then you slipped out of your shorts and shirt revealing your white floral print high waisted bikini. It wasn't nearly as revealing as other bikinis but it still managed to look sexy on you. As you turned around to lay your clothes on your chair you got catcalled by none other than Zendaya.
"Damn girl you're making me question my sexuality. Also since when did you get a tattoo?"
"Oh that's right you never saw it, I got it around Christmas."
"Is it a sprig of lavender?" Asked Harry.
"Yeah, stung like a bitch."
"Does it mean anything?" Tom added.
"Yeah, last fall my childhood dog died. I was devastated. My brother was worse, so around Christmas when he came to visit from Connecticut we decided to do tattoos for each other in honor of her."
"But why lavender?"
"See when we got her, she was a border collie, my brother wanted to name her something from Harry Potter since he loved the books so much, but the two of us couldn't agree on a name. I was hugging her and said that she smelled like Grandma's garden, which had a bunch of lavender in it, so we compromised and named the dog Lavender Brown."
"I didn't know Lavender died," Zendaya admitted, "I thought she was living with Charlie."
"No, when he moved up to Connecticut for grad school she couldn't go with him, and at the same time I was moving out to New York and our parents were moving to North Carolina so it was hard on her, and we decided to leave her with mom and dad."
"(Y/N), if you don't mind me asking, why do you speak so little of your family?" Harry pondered.
"I don't know, I just always feel so subpar to them. But I mean if you want to know about them I can tell you. My parents are both university professors at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, my mom leads the symphony and my dad is head of the voice department. They met each other in college at Juilliard, and they're both like prodigies. My older brother Charles, or Charlie as I call him, is also a prodigy. He also went to Juilliard for his undergrad in music then to the Peabody at Johns Hopkins for his masters, and right now is at Yale for his doctorate in music and composition. Meanwhile here's me the only one who didn't go to Juilliard, the only one pursuing musical theater, a degree even music majors consider to be a stupid move, the only one isn't special," a long pause and awkward silence fell amongst the group, "Well guys, I'm gonna turn in, I have to finish packing before flying home tomorrow."
"I'll walk you back," Tom said.
"Thank you," you reply kissing Tom's cheek.
The two of you walked back to Zendaya's house and Tom offered to help you finish packing. The two of you packed for a long while, it took longer than necessary because the two of you would get distracted with shameless flirting and tickle fights. Finally around 3AM you had finished and out of pure exhaustion the two of you crashed, Tom's arm around you, and your legs tangled in his.
Around 5AM your alarm went off waking you. Careful to not wake the sleeping Tom you slid out from his embrace and got dressed and ready to leave kissing his forehead before leaving the room. Zendaya took you to the airport and you boarded the flight back to New York, wondering if you and Tom were just a sweet summer fling or if fate would bring the two of you together again.
