Gerard delicately inked the outline of his comic. The cool breeze of the early summer day brushed Gerard's fiery, dyed hair against his face, but he didn't let that distract him; he was determined to finish this comic that he'd been working on before school even started. It was well after the school day had ended now, but he and his friends remained on campus in order to catch the late bus home. It wasn't too bad of a place to hang out when you weren't being forced into education.

Gerard glanced up from his work to look at the group of friends that were spread out around him. It wasn't a complete gathering of his friends, but it was a good few.

Brendon Urie was laying in the grass, loosely humming an old song that he held dear to his heart. His head was rested against his boyfriend, Dallon Weekes, who was laying with his eyes closed. Ray Toro was speaking with an excited gleam in his eye to a boy with shaved down hair and a boy with curled blue hair on top of his head, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, gesturing in different directions with his hands. The other two boys were gesturing as well. Lyn Z Ballato blew bubbles carelessly as Breezy Douglas and Ryan Ross giggled while popped them. Frank Iero sat with his guitar, resting against it as he listened to his girlfriend, Jamia Nestor, retell a story of a gym experience with great detail.

Gerard looked back down at his artwork. He halfway wished that he could be the one Frank leaned on his guitar and listened that intently to, but Frank and Jamia had been together for a majority of highschool. Gerard was hoping that his feelings for the dark haired guitar player would dissipate after graduation, but only time would tell.

The crush Gerard had was something that had developed around the time he started discovering himself. He had tried dating a girl his freshman year. There had been nothing wrong with the relationship, but Gerard found himself more often then not getting caught by male figures that would pass by. After that first relationship failed, Gerard had grown even more confused by the fact he was getting caught by female bodies as well. It was something he kept to himself for the longest time. Eventually, however, one of his friends caught onto his dilemma and helped him sort out what his sexuality was.

Bisexuality was cool.

That crush was something harder to work out.

Just to keep himself sane, when Gerard decided to model characters for his comics after his friends, he made a secret note that his main characters were romantically involved. It was just a coincidence that those two characters happened to be modeled after himself and Frank... Total coincidence...

"Gee!" Ryan suddenly exclaimed, pulling Gerard out of his thoughts and looking up. The boy with brown, wavy hair grinned with a small wave. "Can I see my killjoy?"

Gerard laughed, looking back down at his project. "He's not done yet."

"Aww, c'mon!" Ryan held his hands together and stuck out his lip in a pout, "Even just a rough sketch?"

"You can see him in a few days."

"We graduate in a few days!" Lyn Z exclaimed, throwing her arm holding the bubble wand in the air and, consequently, releasing a giant bubble form before it popped.

"Can you believe how soon?" Jamia asked, having finished her epic retelling to Frank. The guitar player now let the instrument rest in his lap while he leaned back on his hands to regard the group.

"We're almost totally adults." Frank commented with a spaced out tone to his voice.

"Adults shmadults." Ryan waved away Frank's words, "I'm a Toys R Us kid now and forever!"

"The fact that you work there only makes that sentence better." Brendon laughed, having stopped his humming just to join in on the conversation.

Ryan stuck his tongue out of the corner of his mouth with a wink. His cheeks were reddening as well, but he quickly hid the color by ducking beside Breezy as Brendon sat upright. Breezy pulled Ryan into a hug so as to help him hide his flushed cheeks.

"I've seen my character." Frank said as the corner of his lip tugged into a lopsided grin, "Fun Ghoul, right, Gerard?"

Gerard smiled with a nod. A small sense of pride filled him over the fact that Frank had remembered the character's name. "Yep! He was one of the first designs I finished."

"That's cuz I'm special." Frank said before laughing.

"Yea, you are." Jamia agreed with a soft smile and an eye roll.

Gerard looked back down at his artwork. That pride was getting stung by jealousy. He shouldn't feel this strongly about someone who was in a steady relationship...

"Guys, I think that's our bus." Brendon spoke up, using his hand like a visor to avoid the sun's glare while looking out towards the parking lot.

"Already?" Ray turned his head towards the main conversation with a look of disappointment, "I don't want to go."

"Wanna come over and watch conspiracy videos?" Josh offered, "Ty and I were just going to pick Ashley up after her detention and head over to my house."

"The substitute didn't believe that her hearing aids weren't headphones." Tyler added with a soft giggle.

Ray perked up immediately. "Heck yea! Sounds awesome."

"I should see what Dallon wants to do." Brendon said, looking down at the taller boy sleeping in the grass. Instead of calling out to him, or shaking him gently, Brendon crawled on top of Dallon and let himself plop down on top of him.

That definitely woke him up.

"Hiya." Brendon smiled innocently at the groggier boy, "Bus is here, babe."

Gerard smiled as he slid his work into a safe portfolio before hiding it in his backpack. His friends were all buzzing with different plans and places to go. Gerard was probably just going to go home and finalize this page of his comic, seeing as it was nearly complete. It would be his last one before they left highschool; it had to be perfect.

He had no idea if he was going to be able to continue his art after this. Honestly, he had no idea where he was even going after this. College was just a fever dream at this point; he had lost all the scholarships he had applied for. He couldn't afford college otherwise. Now, he was left on a path of uncertainty as to where he would end up going after school.

Maybe he would find a decent job that he could enjoy... Or maybe he could even get his work published!

Yea, that was likely...

"Gerard! Be my bus buddy!" Ryan exclaimed, running up beside Gerard as he stood up.

"Sure." Gerard replied with a laugh as Ryan did a small fist pump, "Do you wanna discuss your character?"

"Please?" Ryan asked with a gleam in his eye, "Maybe suggest some colors? I mean, I don't have my colored pencils with me, but I have crayons-"

"It's fine, Ryan." Gerard laughed as they moved towards the area the bus was waiting at. "Sounds like a plan. Color was the next step anyway."

As they walked, the size of the group shrank. Josh, Tyler, and Ray had started in the opposite direction across campus in order to pick up Ashley Frangipane from detention. Brendon tugged Dallon along as he rubbed sleep from his eyes. Lyn Z chatted happily with Breezy as she pulled her dark hair into a ponytail. Frank was walking slowly, guitar slung over his back and arm draped around Jamia's shoulders.

Frank whispered something to Jamia, making her giggle and hide her face in his shoulder. A smile played on his lips as he looked down at her; he looked so happy.

"Don't worry about it, Gee." Ryan whispered, making Gerard become conscious of his glancing back.

Gerard nodded, staying quiet and facing ahead.

Ryan was the only person who knew about Gerard's crush, besides Brendon. Those two had also been the ones who helped him come to terms with his bisexuality.

When the group reached the parking lot where the bus was waiting, everyone began to split further. Breezy waved before heading off to her own car. Frank pulled his arm from around Jamia's shoulders and gave a quick wave to the group before grabbing Jamia's hand and pulling her along to his car. The remaining five climbed onto the bus, following the small trickle of other late staying students.

Ryan plopped himself down in a seat near the back of the bus. Gerard slid into the space next to him, already swinging his backpack over his arm.

"Does he have a name yet?" Ryan asked as Gerard unzipped the bag and reached inside.

"I'm still debating..." Gerard replied, absently, as he pulled out his portfolio. "I was considering a few pretty odd ones, but I'm really leaning towards the Northern Downpour."

Ryan let out a soft 'ooo!'as Gerard looked for the full page sketch of the character he had designed after Ryan. He grinned when he finally found It, pulling it out and offering it to Ryan.

"Oh, wow!" Ryan exclaimed as his jaw dropped. The drawing that Gerard had presented showed the full body of Gerard's character. It's face shared Ryan's features, with a wide grin and a colored in brown eye; his other eye was shut in a wink. His wavy hair was pushed up on one side, due to Ryan's hand being pushed up underneath it. There was a pair of goggles resting on top of his head, as well as, around his neck. Under the goggles around his neck was a floral patterned headband. A leather vest, fastened by buckles over his chest and mid torso, covered a tattered tee shirt hidden underneath. The pants he wore were held up by a knotted rope and had scuff marks all along their legs.

"Gerard, this is nuts!" Ryan exclaimed again, after a moment. He looked up at his friend with wide eyes, "Are you a wizard?"

Gerard felt his cheeks heat up from the compliment. "It's just what I'm good at." He shrugged, "It's really my best and only skill."

Ryan shook his head. "This is the craziest thing I've ever seen. You need to go to art school."

"I can't afford that!"

"Go freelance then." Ryan encouraged, "This is better than some professional works I've seen out there!"

Gerard sighed as Ryan passed the picture back to him. "I don't know..."

"Trust me on this, please." Ryan smiled, encouragingly. "You have a shot that you can follow! Don't throw it away like I did mine..." With his trailed off words his eyes glanced to seats in front of them.

Gerard followed his gaze, though he already had a feeling of what he was going to be looking at.

Brendon sitting higher in his seat, presumably sitting on his knees, to press a kiss against Dallon's forehead. Dallon was smiling with his eyes held tightly shut. His hands rested on top of the ones that Brendon held against the side of his head.

Ryan had always had a thing for Brendon, but never the confidence to say anything. He was always the advice friend as Brendon went on to date Sara and now Dallon. The darker haired boy was clueless to Ryan's affection.

Ryan looked down quickly, having grown silent. Gerard looked at him, sympathetically, before looking down at his killjoy character sketch.

"Do you wanna talk favorite colors for the Northern Downpour?" Gerard asked in an attempt to take Ryan's mind off what he had just seen.

Ryan nodded, "That would be nice..."

Gerard smiled. "Break out the crayons, then. I want to see him really come to life."
