Epilogue, Part One

*3 YEARS LATER*

Luke and I had been out of high school for a little less than three years now. We were still together, and we would still talk about whenever we first started dating. I would never forget our "origin story".

I was in college at the time and Luke was living on his own in an apartment with a job at a music shop. I was studying to be a psychologist. Luke didn't mind me being in college. He knew that I had always wanted to be a psychologist, so he supported me when I made my decision to go to college to become one.

Luke and I would Skype or FaceTime quite a bit. We missed each other, but we were doing good with a long distance relationship. I was about a two-and-a-half-hour drive away from where Luke lived. I went to see him one weekend a month, and he came to see me one weekend a month. We got to see each other in person every other weekend.

It was my turn to go home to see Luke, and my family too, but mainly Luke. He told me he was really excited to see me and had something special for me.

I got excited, and on the two-and-a-half-hour drive to his apartment, I couldn't stop thinking about the "something special" he had for me.

When I arrived, I walked into Luke's apartment. He was wearing a really good shirt with nice pants. I hugged him and kissed him before we exchanged I missed you's.

"Did you bring a pretty dress? I told you tom bring something nice," he smiled and pointed to my suitcase.

I nodded and walked to his room to set my suitcase on his bed, then open it. On top of everything was the dress that I wanted to wear. It was red and pretty short. It had medium-wide, lacy straps. It went down a little past mid-thigh.

After I changed and walked back out to be with Luke in his living room,I realized that my dress sort of matched his shirt.

"Look, my shirt is close to the same color as your dress. That's a weird coincidence," he chuckled as he looked at my dress. He then grabbed my hand and led me out of the apartment after I grabbed my purse that I had set on his table.

"Where are we going?" I asked.

"It's a surprise," he winked.

We drove for just a few miles until he pulled into a really nice restaurant. I smiled as he parked and got out of the car. He walked to my side and opened the door for me. He grabbed my hand and escorted me into the restaurant.

"Hemmings, table for two," Luke told the man standing at the podium. The man got a confused look on his face.

"I'm sorry.. We don't have a 'Hemmings' scheduled for tonight at this time. We don't have a 'Hemmings' scheduled at anytime for the next two weeks, unless you're George Heming," the man looked at Luke. Luke's brow furrowed.

"No, that's not me. I called in about a week ago, arranging a table for two under the name 'Hemmings' for this time on this night," Luke explained to the man.

The man shrugged and told Luke, "sorry.."

"It's fine," Luke assured the man, "I guess I'll just have to do this now.." He quietly mumbled as he got down on one knee and looked up at me after grabbing a box from his pocket. He opened the box to reveal a ring. I couldn't believe it.

"Willow, I've loved you for quite a while now. I remember that we were fake-married for a week in our late senior year. I know that you're in college right now and that we don't see each other much, but I'd like to know that you'll be mine, forever," he smiled and we both began to tear up, "Willow Grace Murphy, will you marry me?"

"Yes," I plainly said, trying to get the word out of my mouth without completely sobbing in front of everyone that was watching.

Luke smiled and stood up, then he grabbed my left hand and placed the ring on my ring finger. He then held both on my hands in his and kissed me. Everyone clapped. It might not have gone the exact way he wanted it to, but it was pretty perfect to me.
