I'm Finally At Peace
Max POV
A loud noise repeats itself and rips m out of my dream world.
"Good morning to you too alarm."
I mumble as I search my bed side table, for my phone, with my fingertops.
I finally get a hold on my phone and of course it slips out of my hand and falls to the ground.
I groan in my pillow out of frustration.
No extra five minutes of sleep for this girl today.
With a lot of effort I find the strenght to throw my blankets off of me and get out of bed to pick up my phone.
I turn the alarm off and release a big sigh as I drop back onto my bed.
Memories of yesterday night start filling the empty spaces in my thoughts, now all of them are about Chloe.
How beautiful she looks when she smiles, the way she talks and uses hand gestures when she discusses her favorite topic, all the little details that I didn't pay attention to years ago.
Seeing Chloe again didn't feel like reuniting with my best friend, it felt like there was more, as if there were things we wanted to tell eachother but didn't really know what it was yet.
I could swear I felt butterflies in my stomach. It's like I'm finally at peace but it feels wrong. As if something is missing.
I open my eyes before drifting off to sleep again. I check the time and it's late enough to put my ass in gear and actually get up. I put on my clothes and throw my messenger over my head. I take my camera from my desk and quickly check some of my emails.
Warren sent me an email asking if I checked all the movies on his flashdrive yet. I was planning to do that yesterday but I just didn't want to leave Chloe's place.
Once I arrive in Jefferson's class I take a seat at the end of the class room, my usual spot. I see my fellow students stream in and socializing with others.
Even though I barely know anyone around here, everyone seems to know me. Max Caulfield the new shy hipster girl.
I see a familiar face walk inside, it's Kate Marsh, she's one of the first people that welcomed me to Blackwell and took me in as a friend.
We have our weekly tea sessions where we swap some stories. I have missed a lot since I left Arcadia.
Kate also knew Chloe through some stories that didn't sound particularly good. Now that I've seen how much Chloe changed, the stories seem less unbelievable. She's a rebel and she made sure everyone noticed that by flipping off teachers, destroying BlackWell property, not showing up to class, fighting and the list goes on and on.
Kate didn't seem to have a problem with Chloe though, they never crossed paths or swapped a single word.
She spots me and a smile appears on her face.
She sits on my table and greets me.
"How are you doing Max."
"I'm good Kate, how are you."
"I'm good, I wanted to ask you if you wanted to have some tea tomorrow and talk."
"Of course."
Mister Jefferson walks into the room and sends everybody to their seats, interrupting me and Kate.
Everybody takes their seats and take out their notes and books.
Time for some long ass lecture from a genius photographer.
Chloe's POV
"Are you heading out already?"
Mom asks as I put on my boots.
"Yep gotta meet Max at Blackwell."
"You know David doesn't like it when you go to that school, promise me you'll stay out of trouble this time."
"Got to disappoint you mom but I didn't schedule any vandalism for today."
Her face turns less tense and replaces her frown with a smile.
"Well good, I'm glad you and Max are friends again."
"Me too... I'll be back late probably."
I take something to eat for on the road and walk out of the door.
I finally arrive at Blackwell and wait amin my car. I send Max a text that I'm waiting for her at the parking lot while finishing the rest of my donut.
My phone buzzes and I see "one new messages from Mad Max" appear on my screen. I never changed her nickname and it would always kind of break my heart when I saw her name everytime I scrolled down my contacts.
I open the message.
"Mister Jefferson wants to speak me after class, I might take a while."
"Can't you just make a run for it."
"If you knew how he looked you would understand why I can't"
"Fine, I'll just wait here ... all by myself."
The school bell rings and I see students flowing out of Blackwell's doors.
"You'll be fine. Be there in five"
I decide to get out of my car to smoke a cigarette. When I lift my head from lighting my cigarette I see a familiar face approaching me.
I take a big huff and blow the smoke in the air before opening my mouth.
"What do you want."
"Trevor said you could hook me up with... you know."
I take another huff and shake my head.
"I don't do that anymore, you need to hit up Frank. Don't tell him I gave you his name."
The guy nervously nods and turns his back. Why do I feel compasion for him. He seems so stressed out and low. Drugs won't help him with that.
"Dude wait."
I say. The guy turns around.
"That shit is bad for you, here I got something better."
I take the joint that I carry with me in my cigarette pack.
"Do you think I never smoked weed before?"
"I don't doubt that. What you need to do is smoke this, chill out and just reflect your life a bit. It's not as bad as it seems, trust me."
He looks at the joint and hangs his shoulders.
He sighs and takes the joint.
"Thank you."
He turns around and walks away. Poor guy. I went through the same.
He looked like something drastically changed in his life and it got him questioning himself. It's a terrible feeling, nothing can numb that pain of your own world falling to pieces.
When I see Max appear in the distance my thoughts immediately fill themselves with her. I walk towards her and we both stand still on top of the stairs against the wall of the schools pool building.
"Sorry I took so long."
She says and let's herself hang against wall.
"No problem, I love standing here, step-shit always gets nervous when I hang around campus."
"Yeah I've heard some stories."
"Hey you!"
Someone screams. I see Nathan Prescott rushing towards me stomping angrily.
"I gotta bounce Max. I'll text you when I'm safe."
I throw my cigarette on the ground and jump over the bars. As soon as my feet hit the ground I run towards my truck.
"You're not getting away now!"
Nathan screams while chasing me. I jump into my truck and start the engine.
When Nathan is nearing my car I push my gas pedal and manoeuvre my way around him.
"Suck my dick Prescott!"
I yell as I drive off.
Well Max is going to have a shit ton of questions. How am I going to tell her all the shit I got myself wrapped up in.
I better find a way to fix all this as soon as possible, I don't want Max to get caught up in it.
I never want to bring her in danger.
Author Note
Hey guys so I got a new tattoo today and I think all of you are going to like it. But before I show you what I got inked into my skin today I want to ask you guys to go follow my irl best friend robijntjeroefs, he's an amazing writer and I literally dragged him into the LiS fandom.
He wrote his first fanfiction which is about Marshfield and I promise you that you won't be disappointed.
So please give him a chance.
Then now finally the reveal!!
It's still red because I literally just got it. As you can see it's a rewind button with the LiS spiral worked into it.
The reason I got this tattooed is because Life is Strange means a hella lot to me.
If it wasn't for LiS I would've never started writing, meaning I would've never achieved the things I achieve today.
You guys mean so much to me you don't even know!
Life is Strange is and always will be my true inspiration for my writing, the effort and time I have spent on these stories is incredible and I never thought that I could make so many people enjoy something I made.
This is a dream that came true for me and it wasn't possible without you guys, the awesome readers who take time to actually read, comment or vote on these stories.
I thank all of you for bringing me so much joy and positivity in my life.
I will never take it for granted.
Lots of Love from the writer
