Signals And Disappointment
We reached Torchwood and I had to explain everything to Danny. He didn't know who Jack or Torchwood were or what they did so it took a bit of explaining. We finally arrived and I ran out of the doors to see the Hub looking so damaged and depressing. I saw Jack leading an injured Ianto to the sofa. "Jack, what happened?" I asked as I ran over to him with Danny close behind me.
"These men came and tried to shoot their way to Kaden. Ianto tried to stop one but got a kick to the knee and head." Jack answered.
"In my defence, I tried to help." Ianto said laughing then stopping as he groaned in pain.
"Anyway, they took Kaden and now we're left with four injured people and now three more missing people. Who's this guy?" I turned to Danny who had his hands in his suit jacket's pockets and looked terribly awkward. "This is Danny." Danny went to shake Jackes hand.
"Captain Jack Harkness, hi." Me and Ianto both coughed to tell him to stop. "I was only saying hello."
"You always say that." Ianto joked.
Owen came to tend to Ianto so we were able to leave him and check out the cell where Kaden was being kept. "He has been refusing to leave his cell even when we offered him freedom. We've guessed that he had to stay in one place so the men could pick up on his signal easily. They broke down the door and teleported out with Kaden." Jack explained as we examined the cell.
"So he has basically hoped that if he stayed here Xaviar would come for him." I said. Danny was still rather confused because I hadn't explained the whole kid thing to him. "I'm sorry." Danny finally said. "Who's Kaden?"
"I'll explain in a minute. Jack, is there anyway to track the teleport?"
"We can try." Jack ran off to join the team while I tried to find an easy explanation for the situation.
I had eventually told Danny everything about my kids and my life over the past few years. I ended up embraised in one of his hugs because I started crying again. I stopped when we were called by Jack to join them. Jack looked annoyed and disappointed. "We couldn't track the teleport. It's too well developed and hidden." He said. My heart sunk a little.
"Isn't there another way we can try?" I asked hoping that there was another way.
"I'm sorry." I looked down at the floor then had an idea. I got my phone out and called Ash's number hoping that she was okay and accessable to a phone. It went to answerphone. So I tried again and finally someone answered. "Hello? Ash are you there?" I heard heavy breathing but other than that I couldn't hear anything. "Ash are you okay? Ashlyn speak to me."
"Ash isn't here. I took her phone." Gale said on the other side. I sighed with relief.
"Jack, can you track this call?"
"I can try." Jack said as I put the call on speaker. Gale was so quiet and scared which was making me afraid. "Gale where are you? What's going on?"
"They took her and the Doctor somewhere else. They did something to me." Suddenly Gale let out a yell in pain. "Gale stay calm. We're coming to get you and stop this." We heard voices in the distance then the call cut out. "Jack. Did you get the signal?" Jack had his eyes glued to the computer screen until I slammed my wrist on the desk. "Have you got the signal?" I shouted. He looked at me then back down at the desk. "It's too well covered. I'm sorry Anya." My heart broke at the sound of these words. I ran back to the TARDIS to mine and the Doctor's room, locked the door and broke down in tears. One of my sons were in pain and I didn't know what was happening to the Doctor or Ash. I had finally lost it.
