A Wild Salamander Appears!
Gajeel and Levy had been doing quite well with their training, and today, both the boss and their trainer decided it would be a good idea to give them a break.
They'd been given the day off, and yet, it seemed as if both individuals appeared at work this morning.
Levy had been keeping herself busy with simple tasks from around the office.
After all, BlueSteel had many people working behind the scenes.
Those that weren't agents handled job offers, training, inventory, and even their cover.
The boss had a whole group of people who worked on fake files for the agency.
If the police were ever to come knocking on their door, it wouldn't be too suspicious.
Levy had been fetching coffees, running papers to the copier, and even helping work on a few of the files.
Her coworkers seemed to enjoy having her around.
Meanwhile, Gajeel had been spending his time in the break room.
He'd never been one to interact with many of his coworkers... at least upon his own will.
In fact, he really found most of them to be a pain.
There were a few tolerable exceptions, of course, but even still, he'd rarely ever had the chance to speak with them.
Oh how he missed the days of being out on missions...
He used to be out in the field constantly, but now it seemed as if he couldn't even make it out of the training room.
Hopefully he and Levy would be able to get out there soon enough... as partners.
The idea was still strange to him, but he'd tried his best to get along with her.
Gajeel had thought about it many times over, and the more he did, the more he figured she wasn't the worst person in the world to be partnered up with.
She wasn't physically revolting, not to say that she was attractive or anything.
It's not like he'd ever take her to dinner for anything that wasn't work related.
Their relationship was strictly professional, and nothing more.
Gajeel didn't have time to get involved in anything of the sort anyways.
He had to focus on becoming the number one agent.
That had always been his goal since day one, and he wasn't going to give it up over some girl.
"Don't tell me! Is that really you, Ironhead?!" A voice questioned loudly from the door of the room.
Of all people to bother him...
Why this guy?!
"What do you want?" Gajeel grumbled, looking to the the pink-haired male as he made his way over.
"And what's with that dumb nickname?!" He added, as the guy leaned against the counter beside him.
"Hm? I don't want anything... it's just weird to see you around the office. You always used to be out on jobs. I don't think I ever saw you step foot in this break room."
"What?! You got a problem with my bein' here, Salamander?!"
"Not at all... I was just saying. Oh, and by the way, for someone who doesn't like his nickname, you sure suck at giving them. Come on, Gajeel, at least mine makes sense." He replied.
"What about it makes sense?!" Gajeel yelled.
"Well, you're very headstrong."
"Well, you're a nuisance, and touching you causes me irritation and discomfort, so Salamander makes perfect sense too."
"Are you sure it's not because you can't even remember my real name?"
There was a bit of a smirk present on his face.
"Don't look so smug! I know your name. It's..."
Gajeel racked his brain, searching for the answer.
He hated to admit that he couldn't remember the nuisance's name.
"It's Natsu. Man, you really suck at this!" He exclaimed, letting out a laugh.
It was loud and obnoxious, just like the rest of him.
Gajeel just wanted to punch him in his stupid face, but instead, he scoffed, crossing his arms.
"I knew that..."
