Chapter 36
Gavin couldn't believe what was happening. He really just said yes to letting the little psycho go on a killing spree. Although it was mostly out of self preservation, he still felt really bad. He finished up his own food, heading to his room. Jimmy was looking around frantically. Frantically but carefully.
"Do you need help?" he asked. The younger man nodded.
"Yeah. It's like a maze in here."
"Alright. You go sit down, I'll look for a bit."
Jimmy surprisingly did as he was told, jumping onto his bed. Gavin didn't exactly want him on there but he decided not to pressure him. He began to look around, not really sure where the weapon was. He threw it as fast as he could when he saw what happened. Gavin glanced over at his friend. The killer was staring at him.
"Did you find it?"
"No. I was just wondering how that little injury of yours is doing."
"What injury?"
"Where you stabbed yourself the other day 'on accident'. On your hip."
"Oh. It's ok I think."
"Can I see?" Gavin questioned. Jimmy nodded, showing him the wound. Thankfully it wasn't very deep and seemed pretty clean. Gavin was glad to see it. He didn't even want to know how many diseases that blade carried. He went back to searching, eventually finding the knife. He just looked at it for a moment, contemplating if he actually wanted to give it to Jimmy or not. On one hand he could be preventing the deaths of at least a few people, but in return he would probably die instead. He decided to just give it to his friend. Gavin had never been the hero, and he sure as hell wasn't gonna start now. He handed Jimmy the knife. The man let out a squeal of excitement.
"Oh Knifey, it's so good to see you! Thanks Gav! I thought you weren't gonna give me her for a second."
"Why wouldn't I?"
"I don't know, you just seemed unsure. Do you think I'm gonna hurt you or something?"
"I mean you did threaten to kill me earlier."
"That was before we came to our agreement."
"So if we didn't you were gonna kill me? Like actually?"
"Maybe. Or I would've just roughed you up and drank all your blood!" Jimmy giggled, giving him a creepy grin. Gavin rolled his eyes.
"Oh shit, you're going on about that again? You're not a vampire Casket!"
"So?! I'm a badass half demon ghost thing, I can do whatever I want!"
"... you are?"
"Yeah! I thought you knew."
"Well I knew you had died before but I didn't know that you're a legit demon. That explains way too much." he huffed. Jimmy giggled.
"I know right? I'm just so cool."
"Sure. So what's the plan?"
"What do you mean?"
"Like what're you gonna do? Are you gonna head downtown or what?"
The demon went quiet, thinking for a moment. He clearly hadn't thought anything through, which was pretty typical.
"I'm more likely to catch people near the bars, so I guess I'll go downtown."
"Makes sense. Have fun, freak."
Jimmy gave him a pouty look, his eyes quickly growing just a tad watery.
"Aww aren't you gonna come with?"
"Wasn't planning on it. Why? Do you want me to come with?"
"Yeah! I want you to have fun too!"
"I don't find murder fun."
"Oh come onnn this'll be a good bonding experience! Don't you wanna bond with me?"
Gavin sighed, knowing that upsetting him was not the right move.
"Fine. I'll come along, but I will not be hurting anyone. I'll just stand somewhere and 'watch'."
"'Watch'?"
"Yeah. I'm not actually gonna watch. I don't need that negativity."
Jimmy scoffed, shaking his head as he stood. He nonchalantly twirled his knife, making Gavin's heart drop when he nearly caught it by the blade. He hated it when his friend did stuff like that.
"You don't want negativity? More like you don't want fun!"
"Whatever. Now get out of here! I don't want you getting your stink all up in my room!" Gavin ordered. The killer gasped.
"I don't stink, jerk!"
"Not yet."
"What is that supposed to mean?!"
"Blood stinks. You love to get bloody. You will stink."
"What the- oh shut up!"
Gavin stared at him for a moment before giving in to his amusement, smiling just a bit.
"Ok ok, you don't stink. I still don't want you in my room though. I've got sensitive stuff in here."
"Like what?" Jimmy asked.
"Old stuff, breakable stuff. Important irreplaceable things, basically."
His friend seemed to understand. The two left his room, Gavin closing the door behind them. Gavin went back to the kitchen, cleaning up all the dishes and putting the leftovers away. On the edge of his vision he could see Jimmy peeking at him from the doorway, tapping the frame with his knife. His eyes were surprisingly cold. Gavin did his best to ignore the fear he felt manifesting in his gut, knowing there was nothing he could do to prevent what was coming. All he could do was wait and hope Jimmy didn't decide to make him his victim after all.
