Chapter 21
Gavin couldn't stop. No matter how he tried, the fire just kept coming. He couldn't move, and although his friends were standing in front of him, it felt like they weren't even there. The destruction was just so satisfying. He felt powerful. He watched as the small killer ran over to one of the trees, tearing a branch off. It looked really sharp, and based on the way Jimmy was looking at him, he knew what was about to happen.
"I'm sorry, Gav!"
Gavin tried to struggle but he couldn't, and before he knew it, there was a tree branch sticking out of shoulder. He yelped in pain, finally snapping out of it. All the flames he had created disappeared as blood spurted from his shoulder.
"Holy shit, Casket! That was the only thing you could think of?!"
"I-I said I was sorry!" Jimmy whimpered. Gavin just sneered, quickly and carefully pulling the stake from his arm. The area went totally numb soon after.
"Let's just go. You got everything you needed, right?"
The other three men nodded. The group quickly began to walk, Gavin reaching for a cigarette. It always made him feel better when he smoked one. Opening the small carton, he frowned. He was completely out. The anxiety soon set in. Gavin felt cold and shaky. He tried not to freak out when Johnny gently patted his back.
"Thanks for doing that, Gavin. That was very brave of you."
"... brave?"
"Yeah. You've never showed me your powers before, you know."
"That's true... so, what do you think?" Gavin asked. Johnny chuckled.
"I thought it was amazing!"
Gavin couldn't help but smile. He had always hid his powers from his family because he was afraid they would think he was a freak. It felt great to finally be able to tell someone other than Jimmy.
"Thanks." he mumbled. His twin nodded.
"Of course. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you known about your abilities?"
"I first started noticing it when we were 8, but I didn't start using them until we were 10."
Glancing over, Johnny seemed deep in thought. Gavin knew that all of this information was new to his brother, so he wasn't too worried by his lack of response. He frowned when he noticed that the Americans were whispering to each other. Jimmy looked pretty upset, which was never a good thing. Gavin knew that something had probably happened inside the house, but he decided not to say anything. He was just stabbed, after all. The walk back to the park went pretty quick after this. They soon got back to his truck, where Johnny forced him to rest against the rusty bed.
"I'm going to call an ambulance." the man mumbled. Gavin shook his head, frowning.
"No, I'll be fine. I don't need to go to the hospital."
"Yes you do, Gavin. Your have a crater in your shoulder!"
He rolled his eyes.
"It's not that bad."
"Let me see then. If it's not that bad you shouldn't be afraid to show me, right?"
Gavin let out a nervous huff. He lifted his now blood soaked hoodie and t-shirt, revealing a huge hole, about the diameter of a golf ball. Johnny looked like he was going to be sick. After a moment Gavin noticed that Jimmy was staring, so he quickly hid his wound. The tiny killer had been quite calm lately, so he knew that the smallest amount of blood could set him off.
"... you should probably take me to the hospital. Jimmy should get home though, I can tell he's starting to get upset." Gavin muttered, feeling quite defeated. Johnny sighed.
"Right. Hey, Sir?"
Ghost glanced over.
"Yeah?"
"I'm going to take Gavin to the hospital. Can you take Jimmy to his house, please?"
"Of course."
Gavin pulled out his keys, pulling the key to his truck off before tossing them to the American. Ghost frowned a bit.
"Why'd you pull the car key off?" he questioned.
"Because I don't trust anyone with my truck! She stays with me." Gavin told him. Johnny looked amused by this. Jimmy suddenly snapped back to their dimension, the far away look in his eyes dissipating. He slowly shuffled forward, grabbing Gavin by the hand.
"... I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I'll make it up to you, I promise." Jimmy whispered, keeping his gaze towards the ground. Gavin's eyes softened, and he carefully caressed his friend's face.
"It's ok, Casket. I swear I'm not mad."
All was quiet for a moment before Johnny cleared his throat, wrapping his arm around his shoulders.
"We should probably go. We'll see you two later."
The twins said their goodbyes, and Gavin got in his truck. Johnny soon joined him, chuckling as he started the truck.
"What're you laughing about over there?" he asked. His fellow Brit grinned.
"I just think it's so interesting how gentle you are with Jimmy."
"I'm not gentle with him."
"Yes you are, Gavin. Besides, I've seen the way you look at him. I know you care a lot."
Gavin blushed a bit, punching his brother's arm hard. This made Johnny laugh even harder. Giving up, he rested his head against the window. He knew there was nothing he could say to change his twins mind.
