Chapter 3 // My Prayers Have Been Answered

Chapter 3 // My Prayers Have Been Answered

Violet's POV

"Mom! I'm home!" I yell as I close the front door behind me. Meghan usually drops me off.

"Welcome back, Violet!" I hear her yell from upstairs.

"I'm gonna do homework!" I drop my backpack off my shoulder, hold it with my right hand from the handle, and head upstairs. Mom's head peeks out of the door frame or Olivia's room.

"Really?" she asks.

"Yes, really," I say. "I'm probably not gonna get a good grade on the partner project in science because I've partnered up with Violet. So, I gotta get my other grades up so my report card doesn't look so horrible!" I explain as I walk down the hall to my bedroom.

"Well, ok then." Her voice trails off back into Olivia's room.

I stop in my tracks. "Hey, where is Olivia?"

"Oh, she's at her friend's house," she says from inside her room. I wasn't even allowed to sit on the sidewalk across the street wen I was her age, and now mom's letting her go to a friend's house? No fair!

"Well, ok, gonna go do some work now," I say, disappearing into my room.

"Don't over work yourself to hard!" she says.

I think my room is fairly clean, a simple room with four walls, a roof, and a ceiling. My walls are painted a light lavender color and I have a few posters here and there. My bed is flushed against the center of the left wall, which also happens to be right under a window, so whenever I have to wake up in the morning, it's blindingly bright.

I have a bedside table on each side of my bed, one with a lamp and storage, and one just for storage.

I don't have a closet. I just use drawers and dressers. There's a dresser against my right wall, with my small tv on top of it - which I honesty rarely use. My desk where I do homework - and where my laptop is located - is on the wall with the door, the front wall. The back wall has two dressers next to each other. I have another lamp on there, along with a few random things I've been too lazy to sort out, and a picture of me, my mom, and my dad. Posters are occasionally stapled here and there across my walls.

I throw my backpack on my bed and sit down on my chair and start on homework for once.

That's means A equals... "I'VE DONE IT!"

My mom comes crashing into my room. "What did you do this time?" she asks with a tone in her voice like I've done bad things before when I say that. Not that I have... Ok, maybe but that's not the point.

"I finished my math!" I state proudly.

"Oh my prayers have been answered!" Mom falls on her knees and start praying towards the ceiling. Erh... I'm guessing the sky, by from what I see, it's my offwhite ceiling she's worshipping.

"You've actually done a homework assignment!" she squeals.

"Yeah, it's kinda sad how excited you are about it because I rarely do it," I reply.

"You should get some sleep though," she says, standing up from her kneeling position. "It's already 11:-" she checks her phone "-54. Night, Violet." She walks out of my room and closes the door behind her. Might as well get some rest. I don't bother changing into pajamas, I just flop on my matters and instantly fall asleep.

"Wake up!" A tiny voice urges me to get out of bed. "Violet, wake up!"

I slowly open my eyes and yawn. "Oh, hey, Olivia."

  "Good morning," she chuckles.

"Morning to you too." Wait... If she's up.. That means mom making- "BREAKFAST!" I yell and quickly pick up Olivia bridal style and carry her down the stairs. "Moms making breakfast!" I tell her, as if that explains why I'm running at 100 miles an hour in the morning.

"Mommy always makes breakfast, Violet," she laughs. "You're silly."

"Ooh, mom! Olivia called me silly! You know what she gets because of that?"

Olivia already knows what's gonna happen as she try's to wriggle her way out of my arms. I drop her on the couch, pin her down, and start tickle a tracking her stomach.

"Hahaha I'm sorry V-Violet ahahahaha!" she says while laughing.

"Good," I reply smugly, "let's go eat breakfast now."

I pick her up off the couch and drag her over to the dining room table. I put her on her usual seat and go elk mom in the kitchen with breakfast.

Whenever Olivia wakes up early, mom always makes breakfast for he both of us. I pick up an uncommon scent in our household as I walk over into the kitchen. "PANCAAAAKES!" I yell as I quickly go to grab a plate. My mom just laughs and shakes her head. Excuuuuuse me? You wouldn't be doing that if you knew what I have to go through every morning! You know how tiring cold toast can get? Shut up, Brain, let me focus on my pancakes.

I sit down at the table and dig into my delicious breakfast. I cut the pancake in eighths and my knife makes an annoying nails on a chalkboard sound. Just the thought of it is making my shiver.

I stab a piece of pancake with my fork and put it in my mouth, letting the flavor coat my taste buds. Mmm... Nothing's better than mom's cooking.

See ya all in the next chapter!

Till then,
~Orchid
