(This chapter isn't my best work, but bear with me)

We had to go home about twenty minutes later. However, when we were just about to leave, Jesse asked to talk to Charlie in private. I headed to my car.

It was difficult to see the road in front of my idle car because of the bright Arizona sun that I was squinting against. I jumped when Charlie opened the door and plopped into the passenger's seat. Jesse waved goodbye and turned to leave. Before doing so, he winked at me. I grinned and looked at my sister. "What was that all about?"

"What was what all about?" Charlie asked, erasing her giddy grin and looking out her window. Her pale eyes looked hollow in the light.

"What did Jesse want to talk to you about?" I asked.

"I have no idea what you're talking about." She said with a forced stony expression. I chose not to push it, because then she would never tell me.

When we got home, I went to my room to plug my phone into its charger. I saw an array of messages from my friend's group chat when my phone lit up.

Andy: Let the records to show that Whitney is spending an awful lot of time with my boy Jesse
Lexi: I'm living for it
Kevin: Your relationship is a drug and I'm high on it

Kevin didn't really care about whether or not Jesse and I were in a relationship, which was why the message was funny.

Me: We're not in a relationship
Lexi: 👀👀👀

I made a move to respond, but didn't have the chance because of the sound of heavy footsteps thundering down the stairs. I slid my phone back into my pocket and left my room to see why Charlie was in such a rush.

(Tbh I forgot how old Charlie is, so let's just say that she's in Junior High)

"The high-school casted me in Into the Woods!" My little sister said shrilly. "My bus is gonna take me to Garvin everyday afterschool for rehearsals."

"Congratulations!" Our mom said with a warm smile on her face.

"Who are you playing?" I asked as I came down the stairs.

"Okay, you guys can't laugh." Charlie said. "I will be playing Milky White."

"The cow?" My mom asked.

"Yeah, they wrote her some lines." My sister nodded.
