Oopsie
Lexi reaches into her back pocket and pulls out a small black box.
Oh my starfish.
Just as she goes to open it, a wave starts forming in the water. A really big wave. Like, really big.
It grows to be taller than the two of us, and we start backing away. There are weaves of a pattern in the water, and they look like the water streams that trapped me a couple days ago. I notice that they are the same shade of green as whatever hit me on that fateful day that I got my legs. The wave towers over us, an ominous, unnatural formation of water.
Before I can react, the wave sweeps down over us with insane force, even though we were far from the shoreline. We are both knocked down by the pressure as the wave quickly recedes, leaving us drenched in water that's almost as salty as some of Thomas Sanders's recent Twitter posts.
The salt stings my eyes and the air is now cold compared to the ocean water. We weren't swept into the water and now we're sitting on the sand frozen in shock. We quickly snap out of it and get up to run, but another wave pulls us in. This time, we're submerged in a world of dark greens and blues. Below us is a pit of pitch black. I still have legs and I can't breathe.
That means Lexi can't either.
Lexi.
I see her next to me. It looks like she's struggling, as if the water is holding her still. I want to help her. I go to swim over to her, but a force is holding me still. too. Suddenly, we're pulled down into the dark abyss and everything goes black.
