Chapter 117 - Pariahville

"Babe." Elijah called to him as he walked downstairs.

"Yeah?" Reid walked out the living room.

"What do you think about the shirt?" Elijah asked.

Reid stopped, biting his cheek before he smiled,"It is..It's very nice."

"Is it?" Elijah raised a brow as he walked closer to Reid.

"Very nice- Very silky and pink." Reid cleared his throat.

"Something the matter, hun?" He hummed.

"Not at all." Reid looked up.

"You're doing that stammering thing, you do it when you're nervous." Elijah put his hand on Reid's shoulder.

"I am not nervous." Reid pointed.

"Really?"

"Really.. Oh- Look, Tony."

"Tony?" Elijah turned.

Reid quickly turned to Rigatoni, picking him up.

"There's my baby boy." Elijah smiled.

"Mh, look after the cat. I have to.. I have to go walk the fish." He blinked.

"Fish- Reid, we don't have fish." Elijah blinked,"..You don't walk them either."

"Okay, love you." Reid smiled and walked to the kitchen.

"Hey- Don't walk away from me." Elijah followed him.

"Elijah, are you wearing that shirt to work?"

"Yes..? Is that a problem?" Elijah asked slowly.

"Not at all I just- Might get distracted." Reid admitted.

"Aw, you think I'm hot." Elijah hummed,"Have I fried your little genius brain?"

"Maybe." Reid bit his cheek.

"You are just too cute." Elijah smirked.

"Shut up." Reid nudged him.

Elijah cupped his cheek,"Do you want that?"

"..No." Reid hummed.

"That's what I thought." Elijah kissed his cheek.

"You suit pink, y'know?"

"Do I?" He chuckled.

"Very much so." Reid nodded.

"I'm glad you think so." Elijah ran his fingers through Reid's hair.

Of course, when everyone headed into the office, there was a case. So everyone sat round the table as Reid began to speak.

"Glenport Village, Florida, houses a wide spectrum of non-violent offenders, crimes ranging from statutory rape to public urination in front of children. No rapists or murders until now." He sat down.

"Well, I can tell you one thing. Reverend Santos and his community are dedicated to reform." Tara told them.

"It says here he went to jail for eighteen for impregnating his fifteen year old girlfriend." Rossi pointed.

"Yes, but no offenses since, and forty years and two children later, they're still happily married." She shook her head.

"Am I reading this right? Families with kids live there." Fleur blinked

"The law requires sexual offenders to live certain distances from bus stops, playgrounds, and schools but it says nothing about being their neighbors." Reid explained,"In most cities that's a legal oversight, but in this one it was part of the design plan."

"Look, here's some context. In 2009, Reverend Santos was able to buy up a few homes in Barclay Bay using church funds. Now the real estate was already inexpensive in this area, but when surrounding residents found out that he planned to house sex offenders, there was a mass exodus, so eventually he was able to buy up the rest of the homes and then rename the town." Tara added.

"Will he cooperate with us?" Elijah asked.

"He's already sending us files on all the residents, past and present." Hotch nodded.

"This community is a fascinating experiment. Typically, when sex offenders try to reintegrate into society, they're rejected, they're isolated. But this community, sick of the harassment, decided to self-isolate." Tara told them.

"Well, that experiment just backfired." Morgan shook his head.

"Yeah, in a massive way.. Two nights ago authorities found the body of Paige Lincoln in her bathroom. She was stabbed in the chest and the stomach." Garcia sighed as images appeared on screen.

"Yeah, I'm just shocked that the reverend didn't call me immediately." Tara told them.

"Well, they had a suspect right away, her husband, Kyle Lincoln. He was covered in her blood, but his alibi checked out this morning, and the blood was because he was trying to resuscitate her." Garcia informed them.

"And now we have a two day old crime scene in a town full of suspects. Wheels up in thirty." Hotch placed the file down.

*********************************

"The victim, Paige Lincoln, was a high school teacher caught making out with a student. She moved to Glenport Village shortly thereafter, met her husband Kyle, who's an offender there, and by all accounts, their marriage was stable." Reid explained as he sat down

"She was found in a cheerleader outfit that according to her Amazon purchases, she bought. Must have been her husband's fantasy." Fleur shrugged.

"Well, according to her history, it could be hers. I mean, is that why she was killed? She could have been having an affair." Tara suggested.

"Well, if Paige was looking for guys who are into cheerleaders, this town is a good place to start." Morgan shrugged.

"I know this preacher, okay? These aren't bad people. Just because this happened here, doesn't mean a resident did it. We just need to keep all of our options open." Tara sighed.

"She's right. This isn't a prison or military base. People move in and out freely." Rossi agreed.

"What if this was a vendetta kill, committed by a victim of a Glenport Village resident?" Elijah tilted his head.

"Revenge is a good motivator." Reid nodded.

"Garcia is tracking outside threats. When we land, Lewis and I will go talk to the reverend. Dave, you and Deans go to the M.E. Morgan, you, Howards and Reid go talk to Paige's husband." Hotch instructed.

*********************************

Outside of the Lincoln household, Fleur, Derek and Reid were talking to Kyle Lincoln.

"Mr Lincoln, we need to ask some personal questions. Are you sure that you're up for this?" Reid asked him.

"Yeah, it's fine. Just.. Get it over with." Kyle sighed.

"The cheerleader costume. We know Paige bought it. Was that.. Role play something she was into or..?" Reid questioned.

"No, I.. It was my thing." He admitted.

"Who else knew about that?" Fleur asked.

"Nobody. Look, why is this so important?" Kyle looked around at them.

"The man who killed Paige dressed her up before he took her life, so.. Either he has the same role playing preference you do.." Reid trailed off.

"Or he's trying to frame you with it. Do you see where we're going with this?" Morgan raised a brow.

Kyle sighed,"Sometimes I'd.. I'd want her to have it on when I got home. I'd text her. Only it wasn't a text, it was a.. Internet relay chat. It's like a text, only-"

"IRC self-deletes when you close the window." Morgan sighed.

"Why would you need so much privacy? Reid asked.

"You haven't met the reverend, have you?" Kyle crossed his arms.

After explaining about the Internet Relay Chat, Morgan crossed his arms.

"Theres an application process?"

"It's intense." Kyle nodded.

"And what happens once you get in?" Reid asked.

"We sign contacts and.. It's a tracking chip." Kyle rolled up his sleeve to reveal a scar,"Surgically implanted."

"And the reverend makes you wear it?" Fleur tilted her head.

Kyle rolled his sleeve down, nodding slowly.

*********************************

"COD was exsanguination caused by stab wounds to the chest and abdomen." The M.E told them.

"Hell of a lot of overkill. This looks personal. Defensive wounds?" Rossi asked.

"Across her palms and forearms." She pointed.

"Any hesitation marks?" Rossi tilted his head.

"None."

"It's probably not his first time." Elijah shook his head,"Any sexual assault?"

"No obvious signs." She pointed.

"If he's in CODIS, he might not risk it." Rossi nodded.

"The costume is covered in the victim's blood, but there aren't any knife perforations in the fabric." She explained.

"So he dressed her postmortem." Elijah blinked.

"Yes."

"This Unsub needs a compliant victim to proceed with his fantasy. The problem is, a live one isn't." Rossi sighed.

*********************************

"You were friends with Paige?" Fleur asked a suspect, Randy.

"I was, yes." He nodded.

"For how long?" Morgan tilted his head.

"Years. Three, maybe.. Yeah. She was the only one in Glenport Village who was nice to me." Randy told them.

"How come?"

"That's just how it is, even in a place like this." He shrugged.

"Randy, come have a seat." Fleur sat down and Randy sat down in front of her,"Make yourself comfortable. You're not under arrest.. Here's the thing, Randy. The guy who did this, he was into cheerleaders."

"Well, I'm not." Rsndy blinked.

"Maybe the killer just wants us to believe that he is." Morgan suggested.

"I don't know about any of this." He shook his head.

"You were in Paige's house at three o'clock that afternoon. You have history with housewives. But here's the strange thing. Our analyst went through your Internet history. Not a single trace of porn, of any kind." Fleur tilted her head.

"The others use it as a safety valve, a way to release pressure. I manage fine without it." Randy explained.

"Well it's possible. Or maybe you're just better at hiding it." Morgan suggested.

"No, you're wrong." He shook his head as Fleur passed Morgan his file,"My life's an open book. You're looking at it."

"Randy, what I'm looking at is each of the women you flashed were mothers." Morgan sighed.

"And each of them was in the company of their grade school age son when you did it." Fleur added,"Now that school bus drops off Tommy Gannon every afternoon. He lives right next door to Paige, and he's eight years old."

"No. Absolutely not." Randy closed his eyes.

"Randy, those women were never your targets." Fleur leaned toward,"Their children were."

"And if the reverend finds out that you're a pedophile, you can't live here anymore." Morgan crossed his arms.

"And that is why Paige was your only friend, because you couldn't afford to let anybody else know what you were into." Fleur pointed.

"I tried to stop.. Please, I'm sorry." Randy looked up at them.

"Randy, we have to tell the reverend and the Sheriff about this." Fleur sighed.

"No. No, please.." Randy pleaded.

*********************************

After finding another girl, in another cheerleader outfit, they decided it was time to give the profile.

"Based on the age of everyone without a chip, we are searching for a man in his late thirties to early forties." Tara began.

"In addition to them, we're also looking at residents from nearby communities." Rossi added.

"Regardless of location, this UnSub is experienced, organised, and worst of all, he is patient. He has practised extreme self control to sublimate his desires." Morgan crossed his arms.

"Frequent precursors to this kind of fetishised murder include peeping and petty larceny of objects like undergarments." Reid told them.

"Now, this guy's probably fantasised and obsessed over these murders for years. Now that he's gotten a taste, he's gonna wanna keep killing, and will take increased risks to do so." Fleur sighed.

"As is evidenced by another murder on the heels of the first, and under the nose of police and federal investigators. This guy gets off on the thrill just as much as the killing." Elijah crossed his arms.

"One hundred and twenty five residents have had their chips removed, but remember it's possible that the UnSub is not from here." Reid pointed

"Our analyst is searching for suspects outside of the community. With your help, we'll be interviewing those residents without trackers. Thank you." Hotch finished.

*********************************

"All the residents checked out didn't they?" Garcia sighed over the phone.

"Every single one, with or without the tracking chip." Rossi nodded.

"Okay.. Where does that leave us?" Sheriff Desario askee.

"You know, the reverend said something that got me thinking. This town is the perfect forensic countermeasure. The Unsub would have known we'd start investigating inside the circle, and that's exactly what we did." Tara sighed.

"To take advantage of that, this guy would have to be an outsider." Rossi realised.

"Yeah, Garcia how are you doing investigating people from surrounding communities?" Elijah asked her.

"Well, it's still in early stages. The list is long and rather arduous. It's no big shocker, there's a lot of people out there who have vendettas against Glenport Village. Alright, there is one name thar keeps cropping up. Ira Stein. He lives right by Glenport Village. He's been quote vocal about his dislike of the community. He's been arrested twice for harassing residents." Garcia explained.

"I'll go talk to Ira. Thanks." Rossi hung up.

"While you do, we need to take another look. There's something or someone we missed. Sheriff, can you give us a hand?" Tara asked.

"Of course. One second, Agents." Desario nodded as he walked off with his kids.

*********************************

They had come to the conclusion that whoever was committing these crimes worked in Glenport Village, an IT Tech.. After Desario's daughter was kidnapped.

"Which ones overlap with Victoria's neighborhood?" Reid asked her.

"Second verse same as the first. Sorry." Garcia sighed.

"Maybe it's not one of those guys. What if Randy was wrong?" Desario suggested.

"The details down to the colour were highly specific. I mean, it's possible our profile's wrong.." Reid tilted his head.

"The age? IT reps are usually younger." Elijah pointed.

"Garcia, new age parameters. Eighteen to twenty five." Reid turned to the phone.

"I am in your headspace.. And I like what I see! I have four gentlemen that match those parameters." Garcia answered,"There's Dave Ermini, Tyler Otte, Matt Franks and.."

"Wait, hold on. Matt Franks?" Desario blinked.

"What is it?" Hotch turned to him.

"He's my next door neighbour. He worked on my computer last week. He's been in my house." Desario looked at them.

"We profiled increased risk-taking behavior." Reid nodded.

"Five years ago in Georgia, Matt Franks was arrested for stalking a girl in high school, a cheerleader. Charges were dropped. She left town. Two years after that, Franks was brought in for questioning regarding the murder of another teen, also a cheerleader, but detectives didn't have enough evidence on him." Garcia explained.

"Lewis, get Morgan and go." Hotch instructed.

"Wait- Hold on a second." Desario grabbed Elijah and Hotch,"What are we looking at here? Tell me, father to father." He looked at Hotch.

"These agents are the best. In case Matt and Riley aren't there, we'll stay behind here and coordinate." Horch assured him.

*********************************

After getting Riley back home and Tara shooting Matt, they all returned home.

"Thank God that's over with." Elijah sighed, unbuttoning his shirt.

"No, keep the shirt on." Reid hummed.

"Keep the shirt on?" Elijah turned to him.

"Yes. Because we are spending the night in bed." He pointed.

"And you want my shirt on in bed?"

"Definitely."

"Okay, talk me through your thought process." Elijah nodded as he walked upstairs.

"We are going to have fun, together. And because I love that top on you, it is staying on." Reid explained.

"And people say I'm the horny one." Elijah shook his head,"How long have you been thinking about this?"

"Since this morning." He admitted.

"Well, genius. Tonight I'm yours." Elijah chuckled.

"Thank God." Reid pulled him towards the bedroom.
