Getting settled
Phil is walking out the door of their old home, when he stops. Dan turns around, carrying three boxes of both their clothes, makes sure Phil is alright. "I'm gonna miss this place," Phil whispers to himself. He can't decide whether this bittersweet moment is a good choice or not. He turns around and runs to Dan to help carry the last boxes to the van.
1 week later
Dan and Phil are standing in their new kitchen of their new home. They stopped packing to talk. There are still a few boxes here and there, but they were mostly unpacked. They don't feel comfortable sharing a room yet so they each have their own.
Phil was surprised by Dan, on their most recent date, about moving to Manchester. Dan showed Phil pictures of the house later that night. There was three rooms in the house, but Dan wouldn't tell Phil why there was a third. Phil assumed it was going to be an office but there was already an office space in the house.
Dan stood uneasily. Phil didn't know why, but was too afraid to ask. He began to speak but couldn't get the words out.
D: So I wanted to... uh... talk to you bout something... sorta, you know... big.
P: Oh my god! Are you proposing!?!
D: No! That's not it Phil! I don't know if I'm ready for marriage because I mean we just came out.
P: Your right. So what's the big news, Dan?
D: I wanna have a kid
Phil looks at Dan, wondering is he really meant it. He did.
D: I was thinking, we are ready. You take car of plants all the time. What's the difference?
P: Are you joking?! I don't have to take them everywhere or feel them several times a day. Besides Dan, guys can't get pregnant. Haven't you ever had the "talk"? When a boy and a girl...
D: -Stop! I know we can't get pregnant. Adoption.
P: You want to adopt a kid?
D: Yeah. I prefer a girl. Like could you imagine a little girl running around the house or putting platts in her hair before school?
P: That does sound quite nice.
1 month later
P: Dan, I'm worried about this interview with the adoption agency.
D: Don't worry, babe, everything will be fine.
Dan is actually very worried about this interview but he doesn't show it for Phil's sake. He knows everything will go smoothly because it's not like they are bad people.
They arrive at the adoption agency. They go up to the front desk together. The lady working there says there is gonna be a wait. Is very busy, and there is only one seat left. Dan let Phil have it because Phil was way more nervous. Dan grabs Phil's hand for reassurance.
After 30 minutes or so, they get called back. The lady who escorted and interviewed them was tall and pretty. She had long, black, curly hair put up in a messy bun. She was also pale, almost as pale as Phil but not quite.
Phil was happy with the interview, so he took Dan to Nandos. They both love Nandos but due to their location, there wasn't one near them. There was one right next to the adoption agency, so they just went there. When they arrive and order their food, Phil brings up that they need a name.
P: Don't we need a name for the baby girl?
D: Yeah, that'd be nice. *he giggles* I have a name!! How about Jessica? We can call her Jessie for short.
P: I mean it's cute, but but no... How about Mackenzie?!?
D: Ew! No! I don't like that name.
(Directed toward a friend. Don't take offense to that because I love that name)
P: Ok what about Marleigh?
D: I love that name! Marleigh Delphine.
P: Marleigh Delphine Lester. I like it.
