Steve: Apple

It's a wonder he even got Kathryn on board. Sixteen-year-olds normally spent their weekends hanging out with their friends, not baking pies with their dad for the Fourth of July. And Kathryn had plenty of friends, not excluding her "cousins" Ambrosia Stark and Chris Barnes. Both kids were a delight and would be at the party in a few days, but Steve wondered why they and Kathryn hadn't gone shopping with Tony's credit card for new sundresses and other summer apparel for the party.

"Papa!"

Steve jerked out of his thoughts.

"Papa, if you don't watch what you're doing you're going to cut one of your fingers off. I don't think even the serum can replace fingers."

Steve turned his head and caught Kathryn's smirk as she mixed together the ingredients for the pie crust. He shook his head and went back to cutting up apples. They worked side-by-side for the next hour as the pie came together. They snitched pieces of dough as they cut out strips for the cross-hatch top. Kathryn set the timer as Steve put the pie in the oven.

They took a quick trip to the store and picked up a half-gallon of vanilla ice cream to store in their freezer. They made it back just ten minutes before the timer was set to go off. Steve checked on the pie and then joined Kathryn on the couch. He sat in the corner and propped his arm on the back of the couch so that she could lean against him. She did, letting her legs take up the rest of the couch. Steve kissed the back of her head and they just sat there for a few minutes.

"It's kind of surreal, isn't it?" Kathryn said.

"What?"

"Two super-humans baking pie."

Steve chuckled, "Well, actually, I didn't think you were going to join me."

Kathryn sat up and faced Steve, frowning, "Why not?"

Steve shrugged, "I thought you and your friends had made a summer pact to hang out every weekend."

"We put it off because we know we're all going to be spending the Fourth of July together. She grinned evilly, "Besides, you couldn't work even an oven without my help."

Steve turned his head towards her, eyebrows raised and mouth open, disbelieving. He suddenly launched forward with a tickle attack. Kathryn squealed and screamed and laughed as she tried to push her father off. The only thing that got him off of her was the timer for the pie. Kathryn laid back on the couch, catching her breath and waiting for her abs to uncramp from all the laughing.

When Steve sat back on the couch, Kathryn cuddled back up to him and said, "I'm never baking pie with you again."

Steve laughed.
