so um, origin story bc my mind never stops

meet miss Luna Walburga Malfoy

the daughter of Halley Black & Lycus Malfoy, two more oc's that we'll never directly meet. anyway, she's the niece of Lucius & Narcissa, and the niece of Regulus and Sirius too, and the cousin of Eva, Nymphadora and Drace

there's her direct family tree

and her basic storyline, as of now anyway, is that Lucius and Narcissa adopted her after the death of her parents— Halley and Lycas were death eaters 🙄 and probably died at the hands of Voldemort. I sorta like the idea that he murdered them after they refused to accompany him to Godric's hallow, and they refused bc they're also parents, and like Lily & James, they only wanted what was best for their child, and maybe Voldemort took that as a sign of betrayal??

but Lucius and Narcissa adopt her, and raise her as her own. Lucius would never let her forget that she needed to be better for her parents since everyone thought that her parents were blood traitors (that's not the case). and he would be harsh with her, but not anywhere abusive, just more scary. Narcissa, on the other hand, would act as her loving mother. She made sure that Luna knew her birthright, and always took her to 12 Grimmauld Place, and Luna did have a relationship with her grandmother Walburga. again, Walburga was more careful with Luna, as the family tried to raise the perfect death eater and Dark Lord follower.

obviously it all backfires, especially around poa. Luna knew who her uncle was, and what he supposedly did. and when the war comes, she's the one to rally the good Slytherins for the war. she would've created a Slytherin version of Dumbledore's Army since Harry & Hermione didn't invite any Slytherins?? whatever.

but Luna would live to defy everything she was raised to be. which leads Sirius to joke that Luna was his kid not Halley's

anyway, her origin story will include her childhood and first couple of years at Hogwarts, probably until poa since Mystery will take place from gob to dh. Luna's story is titled Difference Between Heaven & Hell.
