Paranormal Life

First and foremost, I want to stress again that this is another NON Pinecest story, but it has its Pinecest-ish moments.

Dipper's POV

Some people believe in the Paranormal, and some don't. I, am one of those who believe. In my mind, I do in fact believe that there is something more than our bodies after we pass on. You're probably asking me, "Dipper, how'd you become a believer in such a thing?" Well, I'll tell you. It's a really touchy subject that hits home for me. My Grunkle Stan passed away from natural causes, he was still fairly young, in his late sixties. Losing him is the hardest thing I've ever experienced. Three years down the road, another tragedy struck me just as deep, possibly even deeper. My beloved sister Mabel passed away, well, killed in an accident. Tragic doesn't even begin to describe it. It doesn't....well I don't want to say 'give justice' to it, cause that doesn't fit with it appropriately. Nothing will 'fit' with me losing someone so dear to me. Me and Mabel were really close, some would say too close, and deep down, I know they were right. I don't blame them. Sure we still had our fights and did our Awkward Sibling Hugs with the Pat-Pats now and then when we would make up, but my emotions shook me to the core when I thought I crossed the line. Well, when I thought we both did for the matter. She had just broken up with another one of her 'crushes of the week,' which was named Raven. I know, odd name for a guy right? But, I'll only give him how different his name was. Her crush turned out to be more than that. Her and Raven went on countless dates, and have been seeing each other for almost 3 months. On her Birthday, he gave her a heart shaped necklace. The kid was loaded too by the looks of the necklace. At that point, I thought things were getting really serious between them. Except for when he broke up with her a week later with the whole 'its not you, its me' thing. That night when she got home, she was sniffling. I asked her what happened, she told me not to worry about it. In my head, I sort of chuckled to myself saying that was a dumb thing for her to ask, given the fact we can sense when either of us aren't feeling our best. I waited till Mabel sat next to me on the couch, she was silent, still shaking. I, of course, asked her what was wrong again, but I felt stupid just as before, since I could tell what had happened. And if she was ok.

"No, I'm not. The guy just dumped me."

"Sorry to hear that, he seemed like a nice dude."

Which was an absolute first for me to say, since I'm really overprotective of her. I normally put her suiters through hell before they get to her.

Literally. I'll drive them cray cray.

"It's alright. Even with him giving me the necklace, he still seemed suspicious. There would've been times when he'd cancel a date, or act distant towards me."

"Real catch there."

She looked at me with a stoic expression.

"Dipper?"

"Yeah?"

She put her hands on my shoulders.

"Kiss me. I don't care that it won't mean anything since we're siblings and all. Just do it."

The 'not meaning anything' part was what I was afraid of getting blurred, but she made it clear that's not the case.

"W-why?"

"I need to feel better."

"Can't you see if your friends can hang out with you? Or draw? Listen to your favorite songs?"

I'm digging my own grave here.

"1, Candy and Wendy are busy. 2, you know I'm not the best at drawing. And 3, I don't feel like listening to music right now. I just need you with me for a bit. Now stop acting like a simple sibling kiss is the worst thing in the world." She said hastily

I began leaning in.

"Just so you know,"

"Yes?"

"I love you to the fullest extent a brother can."

She leaned in closer.

"I know. Same here, you have all of my sisterly love. Now and forever."

Our lips connected, her hands rested on my shoulders. My hands cupped her cheeks.

We separated after a few minutes.

"Wow Dipper, you're quite the kisser. I can tell you've had some practice." She said winking at me

My cheeks turned bright red.

"Thanks."

"Just so we're clear, it didn't mean anything. You know that right?" I asked

"Nothing romantic, it was just something for comfort."

"Yes."

"I mean it, any girl is winning the lottery when they pick you. You're so great."

"You're too sweet" I said

"Y-yeah." She blushed again

"U-Um, Dipper? Could we maybe.....do that again?"

My heart nearly stopped. The air was so quiet, you could hear a pen being dropped.

"D-Don't get the wrong idea, I know they don't mean anything. I-It just felt.....felt nice. Your lips are so soft, and they taste like cinnamon."

"I think you're getting a little too into it Mabel, but I will admit, it was nice."

"I didn't know my lips tasted like cinnamon as of late, thanks for the compliment." I added

"You could've been drinking the stuff in tea for all I know!" She said sweetly

"In all seriousness, can this be our thing? I want it to be. Just meaningless, reassuring sibling kisses." My twin added

This is where I feared my mind and heart would accept this as something else entirely. This only remained in my thoughts for a moment. I would accept this as only what it is, meaningless sibling kisses. Nothing less.

"Yes. This can be our little thing." I replied after thinking it over

"Thank you Broseph!" She said hugging me tightly

"You are such a weirdo, you know that right?"

"Yes, as are you dumbo." She said separating from me poking my nose

"Kiss me again." Her voice whispered

I began leaning in, my heart beating a mile a minute. Mabel soon closed the gap. We separated and re connected mid-kiss a few times, testing the waters. She's right saying I've had some practice since my last relationship ended. She tilted her head as I did the same, and she asked for entry with her tongue. The way she did it was so subtle though, I could tell she was unsure of asking. Truth be told, I wasn't sure about letting her in, but I did. Her tongue now exploring me, it sent my nerves ablaze. I soon mimicked her movements, and we separated soon after.

"Oh-Oh wow Dipper! You really know what you're doing!" She said blushing

"Just one more for the night!" She said quickly

Before I could answer, her arms wrapped around me and captured my lips again. I leaned back as she took over, laying on top of me. Her hand was feeling for her necklace, when she reached it, her hand gripped it tightly. My hand rested on top of hers, we ripped it from her neck and threw it to the floor together. I heard it shatter, Mabel broke from our kiss for a moment.

"He means nothing to me now. Nothing at all. Hopefully one day I'll find a guy who will love me for who I am. He also has to kiss me almost as good as you do." She said blushing

"I don't think a girl can 'love' me as much as you. Sure, relationships for us will end, but our sibling bond, that lasts forever." I said

"Exactly." She said diving in for my lips again

I kissed back fiercely, a gasp escaped her lips, it rang through my ears over and over. I decided to end the kiss before things went too far. After all, even though we're enjoying this immensely, we agreed that these are meaningless kisses between us. Despite that, they're nice. And fun.

"Alright bro-bro, before I get to whacky, let's hit the hay for the night."

"Ok Mabes."

She got off of me and headed upstairs to our bedroom. While she I assumed was getting changed, I grabbed a broom and dustpan making sure to get all the shards of the necklace from the floor. Sliding them into the trash can saying "Good riddance," I made my way to the bedroom. Luckily Mabel had just finished changing into some pink short shorts, and a gray tank top. Though, if I walked in on her, it wouldn't be the first time it happened. We're so close it doesn't bother us.

From my drawers, I grabbed some blue pajama shorts, and settled for a white tank top.

"Hey Dipper?"

"Yeah?" I asked sliding my arms through the holes

"What do you say to your friends from school that say how we're too close, even though they have siblings of their own?" She asked

"Everyone's different, that's what I say. And its none of their business. Guess we're the lucky bunch who's cool with almost everything when it comes to us."

"I'm glad I have you." She smiled

"Me too, me too."

She rushed to me and gave me the highest hug she could give me.

"Goodnight Dip Dop."

"Goodnight Mabel Syrup."

She gave me a light peck on the cheek.

"Till morning Big Dip."

"Till morning."

The week following our 'Sibling Kisses' was just as any normal week. We didn't make a habit of constantly kissing each other, only when we felt like we really needed it. Like when I got a C on a test I studied so hard for. To be fair, I was happy with my grade anyway. I always keep my grades C or higher. Luckily that was the only class I kept getting average grades in.

After school ended, we met up at my locker and walked out together. Mabel got in my car first, tossing her backpack on the back seat. I did the same as I buckled up. Our drive home was silent, normally we'd say how each other's days went, but I guess Mabel didn't feel like talking.

When we reached the forest leading to the Mystery Shack, she spoke up.

"Dipper, you're not feeling, funny around me; are you?"

"No, I'm not. Are you?" I asked

"I-I don't know Dip! I don't know at all! I'm surprised I made it through today!"

The one thing I was worried about happening to me, is starting to happen to my dear twin. I knew it! I knew I crossed the line, even though we both agreed that they didn't mean anything!

"I know we said our kisses meant nothing! But don't you know how hard it is for me to keep that in my head? Love isn't something I throw around. When I say I love someone, I LOVE them! Know what I mean?" She said

Tears started falling from her eyes. I pulled the car over.

"Mabel." I said softly

I pulled her close to me, she buried her head in my chest.

"Mabel, Mabel, Mabel. Shhhhhh.....it's ok. I know, You're going through a lot since the break up, and now you think I'm the solution. Right?" I asked

I felt her nod against me.

"Listen, our 'love' is special. Different, key word there. We can 'love' each other as much as we can through our sibling realm, and we have to keep it like that."

Mabel brought her face to mine.

"I know Dip, I know! I love you so much it hurts, inside its killing me! It sounds wrong, but I mean this in my sisterly way." She said

"I can do my best to take your pain away." I whispered

"Kiss me just like you did when I had my heart torn out." She said with intent ravishing her voice

"Please." She concluded

I glanced out the window, and looked behind us. We were in the clear.

"Ok. I'll kiss you one more time."

Mabel put her hands on my cheeks, stroking my smooth skin with her angel-like thumbs. Her brown eyes locked with mine.

She leaned in, closing her eyes as I did the same, softly grazing my lips. Then she full-on captured me, expecting me to kiss back. Which I did of course, fiercely returning the favor. Her right hand felt the back of my thick hair, her fingers softly breezing through it. While her other hand lightly pulled my semi long hair. It hurt just a bit, but it didn't bother me.

Our tongues lightly touched, then we got more passionate. We circled each other as thousands of jolts ran through my body.

I heard Mabel gasp like before, and we stopped. We separated locking eyes once again as they opened.

"W-why did you stop? I was enjoying it, immensely mind you." She chuckled

"I know what'll happen when we keep kissing after you gasp like that, it goes too far." I said poking her nose

"Still 'love' you though."

"Me too ya dork." She said smirking

"You feel better now?"

"Y-y-yes! Sooooo much. You're a phenomenal kisser, I'm gonna miss those lips of yours."

A blush formed on her cheeks.

"Same, but we know we both must find another." I said

"Even though we'll still be just as close, minus our....'thing' we have."

"We just have to keep our agreement."

"We? More like me ya goofus! I'm the one that needs to remember." She chuckled

"You never know, I may need that too. You might have to pull me back one day."

"Maybe so." She winked

"Alright, let's get home. Gotta resume my new book." I said as we pulled back onto the road

Since Granule Stan's funeral, I've been intrigued by the paranormal even more than I already was with all the monster hunts I've done.

Over the years, I've captured a few voices from the forest on my digital recorder, and caught a few apparitions on camera. Both from my night vision camera, and still infrared photos.

I could've sworn I got an EVP, or Electronic Voice Phenomenon, a spirit voice of Grunkle Stan. It was so crystal clear too. He was saying something along the lines of "Miss you kiddos", but I had to take a guess since it was inaudible at the end

We pulled up to the Mystery Shack, getting our bags and locking the car. I grabbed my paranormal book from my bag, and tossed it on the couch. Mabel went upstairs to hopefully do her homework, I already finished mine in study hall. With my bag on the couch, I sat myself down in the infamous recliner Stan loved.

The sunset was beginning its final descent into the sky, night beginning the transition.

"You know what? I'll change into my pajamas, might as well get comfy tonight." I said

Walking up the aging steps, I noticed Mabel was at our desk reading one of her textbooks, she didn't acknowledge me, so I guess she was focused on it for once. I grabbed my blue shorts from the previous night, and slipped on a ultra light blue shirt heading back downstairs. My now bare feet felt the rough, rugged surface of the wooden steps as I went back into the living room settling back into the recliner.

A gray smokey bookmark stuck out in the first half of the book. Already engrossed as much as I was, I quickly continued where I left off. It said how paranormal investigating can be dangerous, of course I knew this all too well from that vengeful spirit I had to rid from Northwest Manor.

The book went on talking about possession, demons, how spirits can become attached to you and follow you home. It covered things of this nature, but the paranormal is like life. Unpredictable, and nothing follows an already laid out pattern.

Finishing that section, it went onto using night vision and thermal cameras, which I already had good common knowledge of. Just as I was reading through this part of the book, the lights went out. I heard Mabel open the door from upstairs and rush down. I couldn't see her obviously, but I heard her place a few fake candles here and there, and switch them on. She rushed away so quickly after one of them came to life, I couldn't give her a "thank you." Seconds later she came back, I caught a glimpse of an old candle fly by from the night's glow in her hand. Her footsteps got closer to me, then stop at what I guessed was in the middle of the living room. The steps got a little closer to me, and I could feel hot breath hit my nose. I felt for the bookmark and slapped the book shut.

Suddenly a spark emerged in front of my face, as the candle Mabel was holding, is now light.

"Boo!" She said

"Very funny Mabel. Nice try."

"Awww admit it, I got you. I could feel your heartbeat going a mile a minute." She said amused

"Alright, yeah. You did get me. Now turn the lights back on."

"Oh, those things really went out."

"Dang crazy drivers crashing into poles."

"Yeah, I know right?" She said

"Or whatever caused it." I said to the open air

Mabel put the candle in one of the old holders that was on the end table by me. That's when I noticed what she was wearing.

A really loose green unicorn shirt that obviously showed her curves, and some white underwear that looked like short shorts. I tried getting rid of the slight blush that formed, but it was futile as Mabel saw it.

"What cha lookin' at bro-bro?" She asked

"See something supernatural?"

"The only thing supernatural is the unicorn on that shirt of yours." I snickered

"Oh hush ya goof."

"Hey, I can't help it, you always look good, even at semi-awkward moments like this."

"That's very sweet of you Dippin' Sauce.  How's the book of yours?"

"It was good, I'm done for now."

"That so?" She said leaning towards me

"Y-yeah."

"Mabel, I think we Sibling Kissed enough today, don't you?"

"Oh I know."

She rested her hands on the armrests, and slid on top of my thighs. Pulling the lever on the side, the rest of my legs sprung up as she slid the rest of the way onto my lap, keeping her hands at her sides.

"What is this?" I said

"Me, wanting you to hold me in your arms." She said smiling

She leaned down on top of me as the recliner leaned back almost to the floor. Her hands rested on my shoulders for a moment as she placed her head on my chest.

"Don't leave your hands from me." She said placing my left on her back, and my right on her side

The soft fabric of her shirt collided with my light blue v neck.

"Sometimes, I need more than a kiss. I just need my bro's arms around me. This is really nice."

"It is." I said softly

"Mmmmmmm."

She tightened our hug, nuzzling her head against me even more. I kissed her forehead.

"Nights like this we could use more of."

"Agreed."

"Now that we're alone, today went good? For the most part?"

"Yeah, it went ok, I just couldn't get you out of my head sometimes, and it really got to me. I'm sorry."

"No, don't be. I'm your brother. Your annoying....ugh, little brother. My antics are always on your mind, its supposed to be like that." I said

"You just admitted to being the younger twin, adorable!"

I kissed her forehead again.

"H-hey! That tickles."

"Good. Another thing to annoy you with."

"Welllll, I wouldn't call it annoying."

"Hmmmm."

"How's your book? Learn anything new?"

"Yeah, a lot actually."

"Ooohhh, do tell."

"Nah, you'd get bored pretty quickly."

The fake candles, and the only real one flickered one by one, casting shadows of us. I wish I could have this moment photographed, because right here, right now, is perfect. Just me and her, twins thick as thieves. Just as we are.

"No I won't, come on Broseph; tell me."

"Alright."

I inhaled and exhaled, gotta summarize all I read so far.

"The part I was at just talked about the different types of cameras I know how to use, how spirits can follow you home, and mentioned the dangers of getting possessed by a demon, and how they can affect you. That's the gist of it."

"......Y-you think you've ever been followed home from the forest?"

"Oh yeah, several times. but it wasn't anything negative. Those times at least."

"Well good. What else did it tell you?"

Guess she's getting interested in this stuff even more now, cool.

"It also talked about how EVPs, spirit voices are......well to simplify it, it says how the dead speak and move at a higher vibration than the living."

"This is really cool and interesting stuff Dip, why didn't you tell me about this book earlier?"

"I thought you'd get bored of it."

"Well, does it look like I'm bored from what you're telling me? After all, you got your arms around the world's greatest twin who's willing to listen to anything you say."

The same star lighting smile, complete with her crystal white teeth emerged. I started rubbing her back.

"Nope, you ain't bored one bit."

Mabel leaned up and kissed my cheek, and was silent for a few minutes. Just being together like this was so peaceful.

"You....you mentioned voices, did you catch any on those recorders you have?"

"I got one of Stan actually. You've heard it before."

"Y-yeah, I know.  Dipper, can I ask you something serious?"

"You can ask me anything you want."

My hands were still slowly stroking her back.

"If......if something happens to me, would you be able to capture my voice?"

That feeling you get when it feels like your gut dropped and you have to inhale sharply, that just happened.

"U-Um....I believe I would. The thing is, it takes spirits a lot of energy to speak. Even if an entity screamed as loud as it could, the digital recorders are really sensitive, that's why some EVPs are hard to hear."

"I don't want to become a lost soul Dip." She said with worry in her voice

"That won't ever happen Mabel.  I'm sure of it." I said

I pulled her closer to me, patting her back.

"I just needed to ask that, its been in the back of my mind for a while now."

"Guess you've been doing your own research."

"Yeppers peppers Dippy."

"Want to head up to bed?" I asked

I blew out the candle beside me.

"Nah. If its alright with you, I wanna stay like this for the rest of the night." She said

"O-Ok, just let me put my book back."

"Awwww, alright."

She slowly got off me, her curves becoming more noticeable as she stretched. I slipped my book back in my bag zipping it shut.

Mabel immediately took my hand guiding me back to the recliner, getting us in the same position.

I began stroking her beautiful brown hair as I looked out at the now pitch black sky. She nudged her head against my chest, I got the message to put my hands back where they were before.

"Good night Dipper, I 'love' you." She said lifting up my hair kissing my birthmark

"Night. 'Love' you too." I said

Through the night we stayed still like this, the fake candles went off on their own a few minutes later.

When she stretched herself out when the recliner leaned back, some of her pale skin was exposed in the moonlight. I couldn't help but blush at her beauty. One day she will find the man of her dreams.

My hand slid from her back to her now exposed side, I saw my other hand was already there. Mabel suddenly grabbed them, startling me.

"What's this I feel bro-bro? Someone getting touchy-feely with me?" She smirked

"U-uh....I-I guess?"

She moved my hands further up the side of her shirt.

"It's ok Dip, this can be part of our 'Sibling Kisses' ritual too." She said

Her skin was so cold and soft against my warm palms.

"A-alright. Good night Mabel."

"Night."

The next morning, I still felt Mabel on top of me, her arms still slithered behind my back. While mine were still underneath her shirt. Something else I felt too, something damp. I looked down and saw that she drooled a bit. I chuckled at the fact she still does this, but I don't blame her. Sometimes she can control it, and this isn't one of those times. That, and the fact that she snores so loudly.

It was so early, that it was still dark out. I took this opportunity to remove my hands from her for a few minutes. When she rustled, they latched back on to her. She's so cute when she's sleeping and waking up.

Her soft yawn filled my ears. Mid yawn, I decided to give her a morning kiss. She retaliated with just as much passion, and her moan filled the room. We didn't stop this time, we kept Frenching till we had a good amount of saliva going. At least we controlled it between us. I removed my lips from hers, focusing on her breath taking eyes.

"Well good morning to you too Dip. Glad that we didn't stop after I moaned huh?"

"That's as far as we'll go." I said

"You got it." She said

"God Dipper, do I mean it when I say how much I love the way you kiss. You got all the right moves."

"Why thank you."

"You sleep ok?" I asked

"Even better with you."

She kissed my birthmark again and snuggled into me.

"Hmmmm Dipper, I love this. So much."

"Me too, but we should get ready for the day."

"Yeah."

She slid her way off, dragging me with her. We got ourselves in another tight morning hug.

"You can head up first this time."

"Thanks." I said unwrapping my arms as she did the same

As the warm water from the shower hit me, I couldn't help but think that today would end differently. Perhaps badly.

The steam filled the bathroom completely as I got out. I looked at myself in the fogged up mirror after smearing away the mist.

I grunted at my reflection.

"I have no clue why I keep having a terrible feeling about today. Its overwhelming as ever!"

'Come on Dipper, calm down.  Don't let your sensitivity get the better of you.' I said to myself

Finishing up my routine, I walked out into the hall to get dressed. I heard Mabel's footsteps as I closed the door. Hearing the bathroom door shut, that gave me time to get ready for the day. Mabes has an extra class to take today for her associates degree. What it's in, I keep forgetting. With her out of the house, that means I have more time to finish my studies, but that obviously isn't my concern right now.

Looking at my outfit in the mirror, my black memorial shirt I made for Grunkle Stan, black shorts and a matching studded gun metal belt, and my normal white, black and red sneaks.

I sighed as I heard the bathroom door open. Before she came in, I glanced at her schedule on the desk, all that's on it is the class she had today. I hope she'll be ok going to and from.

"Hey bro-"

"It's alright Mabel, I'm already on my way out." I said walking past her

She grabbed my shoulder. I turned around seeing her wrapped up in a brown towel.

"You alright?"

"Y-yeah. I'm fine, we can talk later before you leave for your class."

"Ok." She said with a hint of worry as she shut the door

I slowly walked down the steps looking at the sunrise that began minutes ago, plopping myself on the couch waiting for Mabel to come down.

"I'll be out in a few minutes." She called out

"Gotcha." I replied

When I heard the door open, I looked up towards the stairs and noticed what she was wearing for today. A light blue t shirt with black stripes on the sleeves, and a purple and black plaid skirt with from what I could tell were gray leggings, topping it all off with red and white sneakers. Her hair was in curls too.

"W-wow Mabel! You look great, let me take your picture." I said grabbing my camera from my bag

"Alright Broseph, whatever." She said trying to sound unamused

But failed miserably. She always loved photo ops.

"Smile beautiful!" I said taking a few rapid shots

She went up to me looking them over.

"I do look good, but is it too much?" She asked

"Only an idiot would say that."

"Bro, you always know what nice things to say."

"Yeah."

"Now tell me, what got you so worked up this morning?"

I shut the camera off setting it aside.

"I guess some weird feeling hit me about today and I couldn't shake it. That is until I saw you coming down those steps." I smiled

"Well I do know how to get your spirits up, no pun intended." She chuckled

We hugged for a moment and separated as she went out the door. She turned back around.

"See you tonight." She said blowing me a kiss

I blushed.

"See you tonight Mabes."

I made a mental note to write in my journal later today. When I heard the car door open, that feeling I had last night with my chest dropping emerged again.

I rushed out the door, I have to tell her this before she leaves!

"Mabel!" I said

She turned to me.

"What? Did I-"

I didn't let her finish cause I planted my lips right on hers perfectly. Her arms did the rest as she pulled me closer, wrapping me up in them as I returned the favor.

"I love you." I said getting a little teary-eyed

"I love you too Dipper." She said as she kissed my birthmark one more time

"You'll hear me when I get back, I promise." She continued

I watched her pull away as a dust cloud formed behind her.

You'll hear me when I get back.  This stuck a chord with me, an ominous feeling took form inside me, but pushed it back in my mind.

The sun was now in full view of the sky.

And then there were one.

Dear journal,

Of all the things you've listened to, this will be a first. You obviously know how close me and Mabel are, so that's nothing new. What is new is this ritual we have called Sibling Kisses. If you could talk you'd be yelling at me now. We both agreed that our "kisses" are meaningless, nothing romantic. I've kept that promise, but Mabel almost broke yesterday after school. I talked her through it and she kept our promise. The odd thing was that I was afraid it would happen to me first. Mabel, she's been through a lot, recently having a guy dump her. We even destroyed the necklace he gave her during our first few Sibling Kisses. She said she hopes to one day find the right guy who will "love" her almost as much as me, and according to her also has to kiss almost as good as I do. You're probably barfing right now journal if you could, but you can't, cause you're paper joined together by a spiral. Its nice writing these things down to get them off my chest or vent. This might be an interesting change of events from my normal entries that are boring about what I did which day, and other small things that drive me crazy.

Thanks for listening,

Dipper Pines

Ps. Mabel, if you happen to be reading this, I hope you're happy about invading my privacy, ya goofball. :P Guess this makes us even for just that ONE time I read yours.

Mabel's POV

I'm still concerned about why Dipper was acting all worried this morning. And that kiss he gave me before I left, he filled it with all the love n his heart for me. I could FEEL it! And I mean ALL of the love in his heart! He's so sweet and caring, but now I think it may be the time I talk him down like he did with me. However, maybe that wasn't it? He did still seem very worried about me the way he rushed out the door and laid one on me like that.

We'll have a discussion about this when I get home. After all, it's like he won't hear me coming.

Gosh, I know this is an extra class and all, but can it at least be engaging? I already know a bit of the material. If the board could talk, it's saying "Don't care, you need this." The bell rang earning a sigh of relief from me after I got the assignments to complete over the weekend.

The sunlight peered through the class, leaving it streaks visible throughout the room as I left.

Shuffling through the papers, my assignments didn't look that hard, but not extremely complex either. I like a challenge.

As I walked out to our car, the warm sun captured my back. I looked, well tried looking out to the road ahead of me, all that separates me from Dippin' Sauce. Dropping my bag in the empty seat, the engine sprang to life from the semi-old key as I started home. The traffic light changed to red after a good record of three green ones. Knowing this is a long red light, I took out my phone; I had a voicemail. I unlocked my phone and played it, putting it by my bag.

"Hey Mabel, it's Dipper. Listen, I'm sorry for acting all on edge this morning. You're probably on your way home when you get this, but I'll give you the gist of it. I guess my past investigations got the better of me and came back. Not all of them I walk away from unscathed. Just some post energy "hangovers" I guess as I'd call it. Anyway, that's all that made me feel the way I did a while ago. I'll see you when you get home. Even made you your favorite Mabel Juice. And Mabes,-"

The light finally turned green, I looked both ways before I pulled out. A loud horn came from my left. I snapped my head to look while trying to swerve out of the way.

The S.U.V hit me between the doors, glass shattered flying past me. Everything jostled around and came to a sudden stop when I was slammed into the side of a store. I heard people screaming and could get a glimpse of someone calling an ambulance before I blacked out.

"I love you, and no not like that, in our own platonic way. See you soon sis."

Dipper's POV

After I hung up from leaving my message, I got straight to making a second glass of Mabel Juice, minus the plastic dinosaurs of course. The last ingredient makes me laugh every time. I placed our glasses across from us, heading to the living room grabbing my book. From where I left off, it didn't tell me much that I didn't already know. Then it started talking about orbs and other forms spirits can take when they're captured on thermal or night vision cameras, and even in photos. That wrapped up the book after I finished the final section on other investigating equipment that was out of my price range. Like the SB11 Spirit Box, and Ovilus 5 to name a few.

"Mabel would love this book, now that I know she's interested in the paranormal like me." I said aloud

I wrote a note for her.

Just finished this, it's a really great read! Tons of great information. Maybe I can take you on an investigation in the forest sometime?

Have fun reading!

Dipper

It must've been ten minutes after I put the note on the book by her glass, the phone rang. That's when the uneasy feeling came back, but this time more powerful than ever. A headache accompanied it this round.

"Mabel? Where are you, I'm getting worried about you."

"Dipper Pines?' A woman asked

"Y-yes? This is Dipper Pines, what's going on?"

"This is Vikki, I was in the ambulance with your....sister? This number was listed as her emergency contact in her wallet. You are her brother?"

"I am, what happened? Is she alright?"

My palms started sweating.

"Your sister was in a car accident, she was hurt very badly. We tried saving her en route, but were unable to. We believe this is her, but we need you to come to Entity General Hospital to identify her. My deepest condolences to you and your family."

"I'll....I'll be there." I said trying to hold it together

"Again, I offer my deepest prayers to you and your family." She said

"T-t-thank you." I said hanging up

I began crying uncontrollably, cursing the world for taking my twin from me.

"THIS MAKES NO SENSE AT ALL! NONE!"

"AAAAAHHHHHH MABEL! COME BACK TO ME! PLEASE! Your family needs you! I NEED YOU! YOUR FRIENDS NEED YOU!"

I let out some sobs and wiped my tears. I called the first person I thought of to take me to Entity General.

The phone rang twice.

"Hello?" Candy answered

"Candy." My voice cracked

"What is it Dipper? What's wrong?"

"Its Mabel, she was......just get over here. I need you to drive me to Entity General Hospital! Fast!"

"I'm leaving right now!" She said frantically

As soon as I hung up, I called my parents frantically telling them what happened. They couldn't believe their ears and bombarded me with question after question.

"I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH ONE OF THE PARAMEDICS DAMN IT! However you gotta get here, JUST DO IT! .......Sorry, just get here as soon as you can! I love you."

I hung up and waited for Candy.

The wait for her is excruciatingly long, time to me stands completely still as I pace back and forth, my heart getting heavier and heavier by the minute.

A horn came from outside, and I rushed out seeing Candy in her blue muscle car. Rushing in and buckling up, she typed the address in the GPS and we sped off.

"What happened with Mabel?" She asked

"She was in a car accident! Damn it! I knew today was going to end horribly!"

We parked and ran up to the receptionist's desk. I saw the name tag, Vikki.

"Dipper Pines?" She said

"Yes, I'm here with Candy."

"Is she close family?" She asked

"N-no, but-"

"Only family is allowed past this point." She said

"I'll wait." Candy said

"Dipper, please follow me." Vikki said walking from the desk through the double doors

I followed her down the long hall, passing by various doors that seemed to go to nowhere. It all went by so slowly, it seemed like the hall was stretching out until we reached the door with 'Morgue' above it. I was scared to death of going in there, I never liked being around dead bodies, I get this feeling of a spirit passing directly through me and slowly exits my body. The first time I felt this was at Stan's funeral.

She opened the door and pulled out the slab, lifting up the cover reveling Mabel's lifeless, pale face.

The tears that were coming down my face on the way here came full circle. All I could do was drop to my knees and pray for her. A true angel was taken from this earth, and I couldn't save her!

I nodded amidst my sobbing.

"That's her."

I tried getting up, my legs going weak. Vikki helped me up. I hugged her tightly as I kept crying.

"I'm so sorry Dipper. So sorry." She said returning the hug

We let soon let go, I wiped off my cheeks.

"I want you there at her funeral."

She gave me a slip of paper.

"Where and when, let me know."

"I will."

We both walked back to the reception area, Candy stood up instinctively as soon as the doors opened. Her eyes were filled with worry. I shook my head as I rushed to her, she gave me the highest hug she could muster as we began crying together.

"I'm here for you, always! I'm not leaving you alone tonight!" She said against my shoulder.

After we separated, Candy drove me home and came inside. Minutes later, another car pulled up. I knew it was my parents. From the looks on their face, I saw they just came from the hospital. I kept the door open for them as my grief-stricken Mom and Dad came in and hugged me tightly.

"First your Grunkle Stan, and now your sister. You're going through too much. Even though you're 18, no one should go through this much loss." Mom said

"Mom, Dad, this is Mabel's friend, and mine; Candy. She drove me back from the hospital."

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Pines." She said

"We're sorry for your loss. Mabel talked about you all the time, seemed like you two got along well." Mom said

"That doesn't begin to describe it." She said smiling wiping her cheeks

"She was so sweet, fun, overall amazing." Candy continued

"Dipper, go upstairs for a moment. Your Mom and I have to make some calls." Dad said

I nodded and Candy followed me.

She took a look around our room.

"Its crazy, just like we left it this morning." I said

"Please, don't touch any of her things. I want her side of our room left alone." I continued

"I won't, you have my word." She said pulling out her phone and I assumed calling her Mom or Dad

"Dad, its me. I'm staying with Dipper tonight. What? He just lost his sister! He's tearing apart at the seems and so am I! Dipper needs someone else along with his parents to help him through this! I don't care, I'm staying! I'll see you in the morning."

And with that, she hung up.

"My Dad, geez. I love him, but I had to......"

I nodded.

"You don't need to say anything else." I said

The rest of the night was silent between all of us, we light the candle she light for me and all said a prayer for her.

In the morning, Candy didn't leave like she said she would.  Mom and Dad went to the funeral home to make the preparations. I didn't want to go with them at all, even though they didn't ask.  Candy stayed with me at the Shack, offering me what comfort she could.

A while later they returned.

"They've been made." Mom said

"The funeral will be in a few days, with the service at Falls Catholic Church." Dad said

The day of the funeral, I was dressed all in black, a complete suit.  Grenda, Wendy, and Vikki arrived.  I went up to the altar to say my final words.

"Mabel was a lot of things.  A friend, artist, singer, dancer.  But above all, she was my beloved sister.  The best I could ever ask for.  Now, comes the day we never expected.  The day we bring her back to God, and all our other loved ones who went before us.  Mabel Pines, we love you forever, and hope to see you again.  You entered mine, and all of our hearts, and you will never leave."

We followed the hearse to the cemetery.  Carrying her wooden casket over and placing flowers on top of it before it was lowered down.  The priest read Mabel her Last Rites, and the service concluded as she was lowered into the ground.  I couldn't watch at all, I might as well have died right on the spot if I did.

As we walked back to our cars to leave, Vikki put her hand on my shoulder.

"Yes?"

"She said how she'll make sure you hear her again. That she'll be with you in the forest."

There's no way she could've known about the forest, or how she said I'll hear her coming.

My name, is Dipper Pines.

And this,

Is my Paranormal Life

Ok, this is the longest I've worked on a one shot that's so in-depth as this.  This is also my first work I published outside my home state, been on vacation for a few days in Virginia and wanted to publish this as soon as I finished it.  I might turn this into a series, but it doesn't seem like I'll do that at this point.  I need to finish my other works before I tackle that.  Thanks to anyone who read this!
