Most rituals aren't that dangerous-
Ive seen my friends wallowing in thier own cowardice for days after accidentally blowing out a candle.

But in some cases, this is a difference between life, death or absolute mindfuck. Some who survive the onslaught of mindfuck are what you'd call barely sane.

You'd wish that you would die instead.
