Chapter 24

- Sabre's POV -

If it wasn't for the spear pressing against his back, Sabre was sure that he would've fallen over in his shock.

"Wha--but---huh?" Sabre stammered.

"I am still the Captain of the Colourless Guard. But I am out in the field now." Light glanced down at his helmet, "I am just disguised as a regular Colourless Guard so it does not put a target on my back."

Sabre couldn't respond, he was still in such shock.
"What...happened." He eventually murmured.

Light stared at him, as if studying him and calculating what he should do.
"What do you last remember?" He asked.

"I remember falling asleep after visiting the Doctor." Sabre murmured.

Light's eyes widened slightly.
"That was over three months ago."

Sabre stared at Light, another ripple of shock shooting through him.
"Three months ago?! For me it felt like one day?!"

Light gave him a confused look.
"One day?" He echoed, "How does three months feel like one day to you?"

"I don't know! You tell me!" Sabre yelped.

Light glared at him, then sighed, still looking angry. "I went to visit you the day after Elemental did. You were acting strange and angry. I noticed you had Darkness on your arm and tried to get it off, but you attacked me." Light pointed to one of the larger scars on his face, and Sabre winced, "You broke out of the Doctor's hut, severely injuring me and the Doctor in your escape. You destroyed everything in your path, whether it was buildings or Steves."

Sabre stared down at the ground in shock. "I...I did...what?" He stammered.

"You really don't remember?" Light glanced at him.

"No! I wouldn't do that! The Darkness corrupted me, but I freed myself!" Sabre stepped forward, reaching towards Light.

Two of the Colourless Guards jumped forward and pointed spears at him, freezing Sabre in place.

Sabre glanced over the spears, where Light was. Light avoided his gaze, frowning down at the ground.

"Light! Please, you know me! I wouldn't hurt anyone!" Sabre called, and Light squeezed his eyes shut.

Light reached to his helmet he had thrown on the ground and placed it back over his head.
"You are under arrest for crimes against the Rainbow Kingdom. You may argue your case in court, but for now you're coming with me."

Sabre was instantly grabbed, both arms restrained even though one was useless and probably didn't need to be restrained.
Sabre instinctively started to kick and try to escape, but he stopped when he realised that it would just prove to them that he wasn't on their side.

With a heavy sigh, he let them drag him away to wherever this court was.

Sabre groaned, tugging at the moss beside him.
He was lying on the floor of a cell, which was cold, uncomfortable, and cramped.

The bars of his cell were the only warm things, but they were boiling because of the sun heating them up.

Sabre groaned again, rolling over to his side.

His eyes widened when he noticed someone was standing there.

Sabre scrambled to a sitting position, glancing up at who it was.

Immediately, he was extremely disappointed.

Shadow grinned down at him, although Sabre could see annoyance in his eyes.
"Did you really think you could completely get rid of me with one hit?" Shadow chuckled.

"I wish I did." Sabre grumbled.

"Wow, you already hate me? I thought you were the world's kindest hero, who would give anyone a chance at redemption?" Shadow laughed.

"Not for Darkness." Sabre snarled.

Shadow tilted his head with an evil grin. "But you tried to forgive Rainbow."

Sabre stiffened, eyes widening under his blindfold.

Shadow laughed again and crouched down so he was eye-level with Sabre behind both their blindfolds.
"And look where that's got you."

Sabre glared at him, standing shakily to his feet.

"What? You gonna fight me?" Shadow grinned, "You can't touch me." Shadow reached out, and eventually reached his hand to Sabre's arm despite Sabre flinching away. His hand phased right through his arm, sending a ghostly chill through his body.

Sabre stepped back with wide eyes.
"Are you real?"

Shadow chuckled. "I'm real."

Sabre grumbled in disappointment.
"At least I'm not hallucinating."

Shadow chuckled again, smirking down at Sabre. "You're already crazy. Hallucinations probably wouldn't be surprising."

Sabre grumbled again, sitting back down on the floor.
"Shut up, Shadow."

Shadow rolled his eyes with a laugh. "I am never shutting up, idiot."

---

A loud bang and sudden shouting woke Sabre.

He sat up quickly, looking around frantically.
Sabre scrambled over to the bars of his cell, able to touch them now that the night air had cooled them.

Sticking his head out as far as he could, which was just his nose, he eventually was able to see the source of the noise.

Two groups were fighting each other, swords and fists clashing over their shouts.
Light and the Colourless Guards were fighting against a group of hooded figures.

Sabre looked closer and gasped when the moonlight illuminated the hooded figures' faces, showing angry Darkness-infected Steves.

Light and the Colourless Guards were fighting fiercely, but they were outnumbered, and Sabre was forced to watch in horror as, slowly but surely, many were knocked out or forced back.

Soon, only one remained, and Sabre just knew it was Light despite the matching uniform.
Just run, Light! It's not worth risking your life!

It seemed some of the other Colourless Guards shared that thought, as the few that had been forced back ran forward again, grabbing the unconscious Guards and Light, and retreated.

"Wait! What about Sabre?!" One of the Colourless Guards, one of the unconscious ones who had woken up, yelled as he was dragged away, pointing to Sabre's cell.

"He'll be fine. He's one of the Darkness now, they won't harm their own. They probably came here to free him." A familiar voice, Light, snarled through his helmet.

Unfortunately, he was right.

As soon as the Colourless Guards had fully retreated, the Darkness members ran over to Sabre's cell and broke the bars.

"We're here to free you, sir." One of them spoke calmly, dipping his head towards Sabre in a respectful bow.
The others did the same.

Sabre hesitated, wondering what he should do.
Should I fight them? Or should I follow along? If I do follow along, do I bow back to them?

Then the same chilly feeling dripped down his spine as Shadow stepped through Sabre, disappearing.

"Good. Took your time about it, though." Shadow snarled through Sabre, sending a surge of fear through him.

The Darkness nodded and turned away. "Follow us, sir."

Shadow reappeared in front of Sabre, smirking at him.
"Don't worry, idiot. I can't fully repossess you. But you should be grateful as I probably just saved you."

"Why would you do that?" Sabre whispered, assuming that Shadow couldn't be heard or seen because of how loudly he was speaking without any of the Darkness visibly noticing.
But he could be heard and seen, and if it was true that if he was found to not be corrupted, they would kill or recorrupt him.
And I don't want that, especially right now with seemingly everyone hating me.

"Now, follow the Darkness if you want to live." Shadow scoffed and gestured to the Darkness, who had started to step forward to leave.

Sabre grumbled internally, hating that he was seemingly confirming Light's suspicions of him still being corrupted.

But he followed, hoping that wherever they were leading him wasn't a trap.

Hey, everyone!

I'm so sorry it's been such a long time between updates!
Been a bit busy, I was also going through a tiny bit of writers block, and also I've been going through a few different fixations and fandoms that weren't Rainbow Quest lol

I also re-read the first Chapters of this book and AAAAAAAA it sucks.
I want to rewrite this because the story currently is becoming a bit strange and I don't like how it's going right now, but I don't want to just stop it.
I might just rewrite the entire thing with maybe a slightly different story (there's also a few character changes because although I like Time x Sabre, in this story it's kinda implied Sabre is Time's great grandfather and I DO NOT want to be that kind of shipper, it was a continuity error as I've said in past Chapters I just zone out while writing and let the story write itself (which has caused these plot holes and issues)

Please let me know what you think of this, and any possible ideas on how I could continue or rewrite (at the moment it seems like a rewrite is the best option in my opinion, especially with the first few Chapters)

But anyway, I hope you enjoyed this Chapter and I hope you have a good day/night! Bye and until next Chapter or rewrite!
