Chapter 2: Original Universe, Parallel Four
"Ow! I blunted a claw!" the parallel version of Jessica wailed, holding out a slightly chipped claw. Parallel Angel rolled her eyes.
"Oh, please! I've broken a claw before!" Angel yelled.
All of a sudden a deer the original four knew from the nearby forest popped up. She had a white underbelly, brown fur and dark brown spots. She was known to be very polite and kind-hearted. She had no idea that the four she knew were in a parallel universe and the four in front of her were only parallel copies in an original universe.
"Excuse me," she said in a soft and flowery voice "Do you happen to know where my daughter is?"
They all shook their heads to signal no.
"I'm sorry madam, I do not know where your kin is." parallel Angel said.
The deer raised an eyebrow. Angel was known throughout the whole valley to be a mischievous little prankster. She felt something was up.
"Is everything okay?" the deer asked. She briefly considered getting a paramedic, they were acting so out of character.
"I deduce she went that way into the fields, judging by her trail, I will venture forth into the unknown!" Stephanie said dramatically and a bit too bravely for the deer's tastes.
"Um... Okay. Thank you all!" she said in a last attempt to be kind. She expected the cold shoulder from Jessica and a grammar correction from Twinkle but instead she got a ' Goodbye sister!' from Jessica and a distracted 'Huh? Uh-huh.' from Twinkle.
While she went looking for her caramel-coloured daughter she thought to herself, 'What happened? Why are they acting so- so strangely?' The deer thought of everyone younger than her as her relative and seeing a 'relative' act so strangely worried her slightly.
'I wonder what's wrong. I hope it's all just a practical joke and they'll snap out of it, but Jessica would have never agreed to ANY joke that made her look kind... I wonder if this isn't a joke...'
