Vah Ruta Obession
"A Divine Beast was excavated from Zora's Domain. This one is called Vah Ruta. The first time I laid eyes on Ruta, I was surprised by how cute it was. It's so big and round, with a long, awkward nose. According to the Sheikah who found Ruta, Divine Beasts require someone worthy to control them. It's fun to imagine someone piloting this enormous beast in the distant past. I wonder who will have the honor next.
I looked up at the excavated beast from Ruto Mountain as I placed my diary on my lap. It was only a few hours ago that the Sheikah researchers had discovered this divine beast. Once I heard about this discovery that happened right in Zora's Domain, I knew I needed to look. Vah Ruta was excavated, well, discovered in my home, and for some reason I feel connected to it. It could be that it is part of my environment. I remember a lesson from Muzu, he talked about the divine beasts and how there was four of them. I think there was more details, but it has been a decent amount of years ago. Now that I recall, I was a kid still when he taught me about it, and now I'm a young adult.
"Mipha!"
I snapped out of my train of thought. I looked down the path of the mountain. Ruto, my trainer was there, she was not happy. I had left training and ran to go look at Vah Ruta. That was probably not a smart move on my behalf, but I can't help it, I feel drawn to it.
"Again" Ruto ordered. She was clearly not in the mood. I have heard her say again repeatedly for many years. Is again really her favorite word? I mean, that would be an interesting factoid to have for the Legendary Ruto. Yes, Ruto, was known as a royal guard, her prowess of the spear is what brought her to her ranking. Her intelligence and wisdom is what caught my father's interest in a trainer for me. And her cleverness and quick wit are what helped her become a living legend. I tend to get lost in my mind about this kinds of stuff, but history interests me, and history in the making intrigues me more.
I charged with my spear, Ruto parried and landed a piercing blow on my stomach. I felt my breath leave me.. and in its place was something warm and frothy, blood. Ruto cleaned her spear in the waters of Veiled falls and helped to my feet.
"You lost focus, Mipha," Ruto said, "You cannot think in the midst of battle, you must relay on your instincts."
"My apologies," I say, "I just have a lot on my mind."
"You must clear your mind," Ruto said, "Learn to push away all distractions." I nodded and placed a hand on my stomach wound, slowly, the skin began to grow back when touched by the blue aura. A moment passed until, a loud scream echoed from the domain. Ruto whirled around and looked ahead to where the domain was. Yiga clan, had invaded our domain.
"Sidon!" I gasp, "He's in the domain, I need to save him." Ruto stopped me in my tracks.
"Princess Mipha, for your safety, and the sake of your father, you will stay here where it is safe." Ruto commanded. At once she left without saying another word. She dashed into the water and towards the domain. I followed behind her. I wanted to help my people in any way I can.
When I reached the plaza, there were many Yiga running around, throwing their sickles at the Zora fleeing. Ruto made a cry and gained the Yiga's attention. Five Yiga stopped in their tracks and looked in Ruto's direction. Ruto spun her spear and pointed the sharp edge to the floor.
"That's weird." I thought, "Ruto tells me not to do that." The Yiga charged at her, Ruto closed her eyes and slightly bent her knees. I worried what she was doing, I have never seen her do this. It was as if time stayed still, the sickles of the Yiga were coming closer and closer towards Ruto. Almost immediately, Ruto opens her eyes, and I swear I heard a grunt from her. Those lovely eyes of hers turned into the ones of a beast. She swung her spear like a mighty wave and kicked another Yiga in midair. What really shocked me, was her dodge. She stepped back, away from a oncoming Yiga, while spinning the spear behind her back. She then sprung it on her back and then in one move she made it a pierce. Bye, bye, Yiga.
Before the battle even started, it was over, and the Yiga retreated and ran quickly as they came. I stood there gaping. Ruto's eyes turned normal and she turned around to see me.
"What was that?" I asked.
Ruto smiled at me, "That is my technique, The raging waters."
"Or Beast mode." Miray said. "Simpler right?" Miray had come into the plaza like nothing happened. The other Sheikah warriors were driving out the remaining Yiga and assessing the situation. Ruto smiled and walk towards her.
"Sure, Beast mode," Ruto said sarcastically as she wrapped a arm around Miray and ruffled her hair.
"Hey." Chuckled Miray. Miray walked towards me and held me in a hug. I hadn't seen her in a long time. In fact, I hadn't seen her since she vanquished the Lynel on Ploymus...that was when we were kids. Miray now looked like a beautiful young woman. Her hair was still in a fish braid but this time the braid almost hit the floor. That wasn't all, her hair had orange reddish highlights and now she wore the Sheikah garm with her own few touches on it. She looked wonderful.
"Mipha!" Miray shouted, "Omigosh, you look so different, I almost didn't recognize you."
"Um, thanks."
"Anyways!" Miray began, "Sidon! Where are you?" Ruto gave her a look and turned to look at me. I wasn't in the plaza anymore. I was walking closer and closer to Ruta. I felt it was calling me. All I could hear from behind me was, "That girl has a problem."
