A Spot of Baking (10th Doctor x Alice Noble)
A/N: Hi guys, here's the first of my many one-shots. This particular one-shot was in the first book of the 'Healer Series: Healing Touch from my deleted account. Someone had even invented a ship name for Alice and the Doctor calling them Dalice. But anyway, that's enough from me and please enjoy this one-shot x
Alice was bored, really bored. She would generally go for a wander in the TARDIS library, take a book from many of its vast shelves and bring it to read in the console room with the Doctor to keep him company when he was fixing something. There was one thing Alice was passionate about other than books or history, and that was baking. She had been ever so grateful enough to learn it from her dear old gran when she'd been alive. It had given her many happy memories as a child.
That's what she was doing currently to cure her boredom. Getting the required equipment and ingredients to make banana bread saw the only fruit she could find in the fruit bowl.
About half an hour later, she'd finished the bread that was now baking away inside the oven. Alice was about to start tidying up when the Doctor made an appearance.
"Baking again, are we?" The Doctor asked the young woman knowingly, casually strolling into the kitchen, hands stuffed in his brown trouser pockets nose sniffing the air with interest. "Is that banana I smell?"
"Yes, Banana Bread." She confirmed, telling him what was in the oven, grabbing some of the dirty equipment and utensils taking it all over to the sink.
"Ooh." The Time Lord voiced happily, glancing at the rising loaf in the oven, before turning his attention to Alice coming to join her by the sink. "Do you need a hand?" He offers kindly, nodding to the dirty utensils and other things on the side nearby.
"Yeah, sure, could you put those things back away for me." She told him, nodding to where it was, as she started to run hot the water in the sink for washing up.
The Doctor only had come to the kitchen with intentions of spending time with her. Ever since The Library, he and Alice had gotten close, now staying more and more in each other's company. He knew that it had to do with the Bonding process. Simultaneously, he was distracted by his thoughts and Alice in all her beauty. The Time Lord trips. The flour and baking powder were flying everywhere, landing over the young woman.
"You did not just do that?!" She gasped, scooping up some bubbles throwing them at him.
"It was an accident!" He confessed honestly, putting his hands up in the air after having dropped the stuff he'd been holding all over the floor after Alice had chucked bubbles on him.
After they end up having a full-on food fight, getting covered from head to toe in flour and eggs, before long, they started to run out of breath chasing each other around the room until Alice slipped on some egg on the floor. As she fell, the Doctor, who wasn't far from her, swooped in to catch Alice around the waist. She grabbed onto the lapels of his brown suit.
A sudden tension slowly started building up between them as they stayed in that same position. All the Doctor could think about now is what it would be like to kiss her lips again, this time around, without poison being involved. Alice couldn't help to notice as the Time Lords brown eyes looked back into her green with intensity. Her hands-on accord moves from the lapels of his jacket to around his neck, the familiar scent of his spicy cologne with the hint of old books hitting her nose at the same time.
By now, they couldn't help but be drawn to one another as the world around them seemed to disappear as it had in The Library. Alice couldn't seem to stop moving her head up slowly towards the Doctor, their lips barely a few inches apart.
"What on Earth is going on in here?!" Donna asked rather moodily, making the two break apart quickly, the tension vanishing completely. "It looks like a bomb has gone off in here with all this mess."
"He started it!" Alice points out who's to blame for this happening in the first place.
"I told you it was an accident!" The Doctor tried getting through to her. But at the same time was somewhat annoyed by Donna's inappropriate timing. The two started bickering over it and stopped forgetting Donna completely.
"Will you two stop arguing like you're married for a second!" Donna shouts out angrily, stopping them immediately. Alice and the Doctor are about to start again, but her sister interrupts her. "I don't care who started it when or how. Now clean this bloody mess up the pair of you! God, it's like looking after a pair of kids!" She tells them off without care before storming out of the kitchen.
