Chapter 9
"Alan, wow. I don't know what to say," I whisper. He smiles, "Maybe just I love you?" I nod, "I love you."
"Let's watch a movie," I giggle. Alan sighs, "How did I get stuck with such a crazy girl like you?" I shrug, "You volunteered bro!" He laughs, "I guess I did. Can I give you back?" I shake my head, "No. You're stuck with me!"
"Let's do something fun!" I exclaim, jumping up. "Like what?" Alan asks. I shrug, "I don't know."
He laughs, "We can go for a walk." I shake my head, "Nope. I've walked more here in Nashville than I ever did." He shrugs, "Disney movie marathon?" I nod, "That's more like it!"
We race down the stairs and into the living room. "Where're you two going in such a hurry?" Brycie asks, hands on her hips. "We were going to have a Disney movie marathon," Alan whispers. Brycie laughs, "Wow. Alan, she's a perfect fit into our Disney-obsessed family." Alan nods, "I know. She's perfect." I blush again, nobody's ever called me that before.
"Let's go!" I exclaim, grabbing Alan's hand and leading him to the living room. "Hey girls, wanna watch Disney movies?" Alan asks. The girls cheer, "Yay! Can we make popcorn?" Alan nods, "Sure princess."

"Movie number five coming your way!" I exclaim. "Which movie?" Alan asks. "SURPRISE!" I exclaim, putting TinkerBell into the DVD player. Three seconds into the movie, Alan knows what it is. The girls cheer. "Daddy! I love this movie," Presley squeals.
We watch like five more movies, and then we get the girls ready for bed. We skip dinner because we ate a ton of popcorn.
"Mia, can I wear my Elsa pajamas?" Presley asks, while I search through her drawers. I nod, "Sure honey." I pull them out, and help her change into them.
The girls walk back downstairs to watch one more movie before bed. We decide on Frozen. The girls and Alan sing along, mimicking all the dance moves. I laugh, they haven't messed up once.
The movie finishes. "Okay kids, bedtime!" Alan exclaims. "Daddy, do I have to go?" AJ asks. Alan nods, "Yes darling." I help Alan take the girls upstairs, and get them to bed. Once they're sound asleep, we walk back downstairs and watch a few more Disney movies.
"I'm gonna go call my family. I'll be back in about twenty minutes," I inform Alan. He nods, "Okay Mia. I'll still be here."
I walk up to my room, and pull out my laptop. Josh said we could FaceTime tonight. I pull up FaceTime and call Jaxon's laptop.
"MIA!" They exclaim, as their faces appear on the screen. "Oh my gosh! I miss you guys sooo much!" I exclaim. "We miss you more!" Meghan exclaims. "So how's it going in Nashville?" Mom asks.
"Perfect! I've had so much fun!" I exclaim. Jaxon grins, "I'm glad, sis." Josh grins, "Alan said you've been a big help to him and his wife."
I shrug, "I guess I have." Mom nods, "We miss you so much sweetie!" I try to hide it all with a smile, "I miss you guys too!"
"We've gotta go, honey. Love you, hope to see you soon," Josh says. I blink back my tears, "Love you guys too. Bye." I hang up, just as the tears flow.
I walk back downstairs, trying to hide my homesickness. "Hey honey, you okay?" Alan asks. I shake my head, "I miss my family so much. I don't know of I can stay here much longer."
"Come here, Mia," Alan opens his arms. I find myself flying into them, I feel safe and secure. "I know your homesick, anybody would be. This is what's best for you right now. We're just trying to protect you," he whispers.
I cry, "I know. But it hurts." He runs his calloused hands through my hair, "I know honey, I know."
"What should I do?" I ask him. His answer is simple, "Pray. God will show you the right way." I nod, "Night Alan. Love you." He kisses the top of my head, "Love you too beautiful. Sweet dreams."
I walk up to my bed, and cry some more. This transition is so hard. I can't stand the unknown. I plug in my earbuds, trying to forget about life. An Anthem Lights song starts playing, and I recognize it almost instantly. The Unknown.
"Thank you, God. I think I will stay with Alan. I know he just wants to protect me, and I want to be protected. Thank you for putting this band into my life. I honestly don't know where I'd be without them. Amen."
I smile, I'm staying in Nashville. I can't imagine my life any other way right now.
