Chapter 13

Mia's POV

It feels good to finally get that burden off of my shoulders. I've been carrying that weight for a while, and now that one other person knows it's not that bad.

"Mia, hun, dinner!" Brycie exclaims. I snap out of my thoughts and race downstairs.

I don't bother wearing long sleeves and bracelets all the time anymore, because he knows and understands.

I skip downstairs, and into the kitchen. "Mia!" Presley exclaims, hugging my legs. I grin, "Hey sweets." AJ runs over and hugs me too.

"Girls, let Mia have some space please," Alan says. AJ and Presley quickly run to their seats, and sit down. I sit down next to Alan.

Brycie places food on the table and sits down too. "Mia, would you like to bless the food?" Alan asks, politely. I nod, "Sure Alan." We all grab hands and I begin praying, with a shaky breath.

"Lord God,
Thank you for putting this amazing family into my life. I know that they love and truly care about me. Please bless this food to our bodies, so that we can serve you more. In Jesus' name I pray,
Amen."

Alan squeezes my hand, "Good job kiddo." I nod, silently thanking him. I pick up the fork, and begin eating the delicious food Brycie has prepared.

"Brycie, this is amazing!" I exclaim, taking another bite. She grins, "Thanks hun! It's the girls' favorite." AJ and Presley let out slight giggles, as they shovel another forkful into their mouthes. The girls finish their food and run off to play, leaving just Alan, Brycie, and I.

Our conversation shifts around, but eventually stops on the topic I've been trying to avoid my scars. I hold up my wrists, exposing them to Brycie. She immediately wraps me in a hug.

"Kiddo, you're some fighter," Alan remarks. "I've been fighting too long to give up," I reply. "That's the positive attitude I love!" Brycie exclaims.

"Are you planning on telling you family?" Alan asks me. "I don't know. I'm not sure how they'll react. I don't want to lose them," I say unsure. "You won't lose them, Mia. They'll still love you," Brycie says.

"Love keeps no record of wrongs," Alan reminds me. "Isn't that a Joey quote?" I ask. He nods, "Mhm. Just keep that in mind." I grin, "I think tomorrow I have to FaceTime my family." Alan's reaches an arm over and gives me a side hug, "That's my girl."

Chad's POV

Mia just called, and asked me if she, Alan, Caleb, and Joey could come over to talk to me. I said yes, obviously. Yet, I still wonder what's up, I pray it's not anything serious.

"Hey babe," Fallon says, entering the room. I nod, acknowledging her presence. She walks over, and sits next to me on the couch. "Chad, what's wrong?" She asks. I sigh, "Im not sure. The guys and Mia will be here soon. They want to speak with me." She nods, "Prayer is all you can do until then."

About a half hour later, the guys and Mia are standing in my kitchen. They don't look to worried, so I guess nothing's wrong.

"Hey kiddo," I greet Mia, hugging her. She smiles, "Hey Chaddy." She wraps her arms around me too. "We can talk upstairs," I tell her, leading her and the guys upstairs.

We walk into one of the spare bedrooms, and I close the door. We all sit down, and I wait for the news.

"No matter what, promise you'll still love me," Mia says. "If course we will, love," Joey says. I nod in agreement, "Yeah kiddo." Caleb agrees, "Don't worry."

"Okay, well, I've only ever told this to one person, and that person is Alan," she starts. We nod, "Okay go on."

"This is what I want to show you," she says, pulling up her long sleeves. I squint to see what she's showing us, and I can't believe my eyes. This has to be a trick!

I watch the shocked facial expressions of my bandmates, as Mia shows us her secret. I do the first thing that pops into my head, I run up to her and hug her.

She wraps her arms around me, and cries. "It's okay darling, I'm here," I whisper softly, as I stroke her hair. "Chad, do you still love me?" She asks, quietly. "Mia, darling, why would you think this would change anything?"

"I just don't wanna lose you guys," she shrugs. "IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" Caleb and Joey sing from behind me. I laugh, "Hey! No fair! I was gonna say that."

Mia walks over to Joey and Caleb, who also wrap her in an embrace. "We must group hug!" Alan exclaims, laughing. We all crowd around Mia in one of the weirdest group hugs ever.

"Now lets do something not weird," Joey says laughing. "Let's hit up that Chick-Fil-A," I suggest. "YASSSSS JUST YASSSSS CHAD!" Mia exclaims, like a crazy fangirl. "Wow, you're obsessed," Caleb says, shaking his head. "Nah, I'm just outta my mind," she replies. Alan laughs, "She's got us there."
