THE sky turned dark by the time Odessa and Jake had found themselves lost in the trees.

"You." Odessa glared at Jake, a stick in hand they she shared with the knife she had kept at her side. "You did this to us, you silly child."

Jake only ignored him. He didn't look at her, or even look at her from the corner of his eyes. Instead he had pulled the sleeves from his shirt and wrapped it around a stick Odessa had thrown at him half an hour before. He dipped the sleeve wrapped stick in what looked to be a tree syrup. Once that was down, he took the lighter from beside Odessa and lit it, creating a yellow orange glow.

Both Odessa and Jake could hear things in their surrounding. The only difference between the two was that Odessa didn't cause any quick movements that might make her a threat. Jake on the other hand, he was fast to wave his lit stick around.

Creatures hissed at them, and when Odessa heard them take closer steps to her and Jake, she didn't hesitate to move closer to Jake. She wouldn't ever lie, if she was mad at Jake, should would show it. But she wouldn't ever do anything that could cause him harm, it's not what her sister would have wanted.

Odessa looked around, noticing that the creatures that looked a lot like the big jaguar creature, only smaller, were coming at them from a certain direction.

"This way." Odessa whispered, pulling Jake along with her to where she could walk through the trees and plants around them, "Come on."

Jake followed, keeping the stick he held out. He had noticed that whatever was chasing him and Odessa hadn't liked fire.

Standing back to back in an opening surrounded by little creatures, Jake held a flaming stick well Odessa held her make shift spear. The creatures charged, Odessa chose to be less violent, she only poked the none sharpe side at whatever jumped. Jake, he held the fire closer to them, the creatures not liking it at all.

"Ah." Jake shoved the flames forward, the creatures yelping and moving backwards and out of the way. The creatures continued to circle them, one by one making their way closer. "I don't have all goddam night."

Odessa whirled the stick, the side of it hitting one of the creatures in its side. It yelped, and Odessa felt a pang of guilt in her chest.

Jake stabbed the end of his stick into a creature that jumped his way, the creature letting out a cry as it fell to the forest floor. Jake pulled his knife from his side, using it to plunge into any of the other creatures that went his way.

Odessa only confined to hit their sides, just enough that they would know she would put up a fight. She didn't want to kill anything, not yet.

Jake fell to the ground, a creature moving on top of him and attempting to bite at his face. Odessa was to busy trying to defend herself and Jake from any other creatures that made their way towards them.

An arrow soared through the air, the creature on top of Jake falling limp with a small yelp. Whomever held the bow, a Na'vi woman, yelled out a battle cry as she jumped and shot many more arrows. She used her bow to slash at the creatures, wounding them. She continued to fight with them until the rest had ran away. She scared them away with a hiss.

Odessa pulled Jake up. She nodded at the Na'vi woman who had saved her and Jakes life.

The unknown Na'vi woman grabbed ahold of the flaming stick, placing it in a puddle near by. Jake was quick to protest into Odessa whacked his arm.

The Na'vi woman swiftly moved forward, her knees bent as she moved along the earth. She knelt by a whimpering creature, one that had been injured to the point of death, only it hadn't died yet. She spoke something in her langue, words that Jake and Odessa didn't know, but words the woman knew at heart.

Odessa slowed her steps when she reached a creature at her feet. It was twitching, small whimpers leaving its mouth as it struggled to live. She knelt, looking back up to Jake who had been looking at her with interest. The Na'vi woman had been too.

She placed her hand on its neck, softly moving it in a calming motion. Slowly, she moved her knife away from her side and plunged it into the heart of the creature.

"May you reach stars." Odessa whispered what her sister had said. Her sister had always said those words; when a character on her favourite tv show died, or when their pet fish had died, when anyone died.

It meant much more than words, and it meant a whole deal for Odessa to say what her sister couldn't have anymore.
