You wiped my tears away,
untamed lion in the prairie.
I will never forget how your

paws were trying to save me.

In this savanna,
you took me out of danger's way.
I've never seen a rayless sky
so beautiful; never mind why.

But then there will always be
things that have to disappear

because... "Darling," you say,
"we both have to face this fear."

Then with your mighty legs,
you leapt off the bricks we built.
With a ferocious roar for sadness,
you watched our flowers wilt.

And then this came:

You wiped my tears away,
tamest cheetah in the wild.
Nearing my face were your paws;
the way you held me was mild.

Please don't scar me with your claws.

Your words stayed with me,
holding me, keeping me
even though the lion had left
the smiles we had gotten
from time... by theft.

But then I always overthink
and cry over my biggest fear...

but then... "Darling," you say,
"it's only in your absence
I shall disappear."
