Chapter Twelve

Evee woke up the following day with a feeling of bliss overwhelming her. It had been a long time since she'd gone on a date that went so well. No awkward silences, just comfortable banters. The nurse couldn't wrap her head around the fact that Harry had been so easy to get along with. She couldn't quite comprehend why he was so intend on listening to her silly stories. He, himself, hadn't spoken a lot about his past. She could feel that he trusted her, but not yet enough to talk about his family or his mother. Eveline didn't mind, really. She could understand it and she had hoped he would be able to open his heart towards her in the future.

She sighed opening her eyes, staring at her white ceiling. She remembered last night.

"I'll walk you back to your door." Harry spoke to Evee, turning his blue eyes towards her own green.

"That's okay though, I know my way around here." Evee smiled, opening her purse and taking out her keys.

"I insist."

"Well then I obviously can't say no." Evee grinned as she opened the car door and stepped into the darkness of the London streets. She heard Harry following her towards the front door, fumbling with her keys, she finally found the right one and opened the door, stepping into the apartment block's hallway. They made their way towards her door in silence, "I would ask you for a drink but it's already quite late."

Eveline hoped that he wouldn't expect her to invite him in and have some sort of a booty call. Yes, sometimes she was a loose canon but she wasn't that kind of a girl to just open her legs on the first date. She had hoped he wasn't that kind of a guy either.

"No! I just wanted to make sure you were safe and all of that. I have an early engagement tomorrow so I wouldn't be able to stay anyways." He chuckled.

"Really? Not something too difficult, I hope. It is sunday after all." She smiled, turning her body towards his.

"Just the ANZAC day service at Westminster Abbey."

"I hope you have fun. I'll still be in bed, that's for sure."

"Lucky you. Anyways, I'll let you get your beauty sleep." Harry spoke, fumbling with his jacket.

"I really had a wonderful time though. Thank you." Eveline smiled, opening her arms to instigate a hug. Harry immediately replied stepping into it. Her head matched just underneath his. He could smell her shampoo, definitely roses.

Eveline stepped back a little, watching how his eyes searched through her face. They were so close, if she would lift her head slightly, she could kiss him. He wanted to, she knew he did, Evee could see it in his eyes. But it was too soon. She wasn't a first date kisser. So instead of planting her lips on his, she softly pressed them on his right cheek. The slight stumble of his beard tickling her lips. "You'll call or text me, right?" She smiled as she saw his flushed cheeks.

"First thing in the morning." He grinned.

Nodding her head, she replied, "Okay, bye Harry."

The goodbye had been cute and sweet. It was everything she would ask for after a first date.

She turned her head towards the small clock on her nightstand. It surprised her that it was only eight in the morning. She usually didn't even see that hour when she didn't have to work. She couldn't help but check her phone. A grin spread on her face when she noticed she had a message. It was from a number she didn't have in her phone but atleast it wasn't a private number, which now meant she officialy had Harry's number.

Thanks again for last night. Hope that wasn't our last get-together... Xx - H

Evee grinned, she didn't think he'd keep his word but he did. He had actually texted her first thing in the morning. She quickly responded.

It's not if you don't want it to be. Are you ready for Westminster? Xx

A couple of miles further away, in Kensington Palace, Harry was having a quick breakfast at his brother's apartment before his engagement. It was a tradition on a sunday. The couple was always up quite early with an eleven month year old and a toddler. George was sitting in his highchair next to Harry, chewing on a sandwich. The ginger prince noticed he had a new message from Evee and smiled as he read it.

"You look content." William observed, sitting right across his brother, noticing the smile on his face. Harry ignored his brother in the process, immediately typing a response back to the nurse. "Harry!"

"Hi yes, what were you saying?" The prince shrugged, placing his IPhone on the table.

"I said you look content."

"Yes. I am. A little tired but happy none the less." Harry grabbed another sandwich, spreading some jam on it.

"Tea?" His sister in law questioned.

"Yeah, thanks." Harry watched Kate pouring tea in his cup.

"You were home late last night." Kate spoke gently. She knew something was up. She could spot it on Harry's face.

"Yes, sorry mom and dad but since when do you guys stalk me?" Harry raised his eyebrows at the couple.

William replied, "Well I didn't see it."

"That's because you never wake up when Charlotte's bawling her eyes out." Kate pointed out, giving her husband a sideglance.

"Don't turn this towards me. Let's just continue asking this ginger out about that grin on his not so handsome face." Harry rolled his eyes at his brother.

"Let me guess, you met a girl." Kate pointed out, sitting next to her daughter.

"So what if I did?" Another smiled crossed his face as he thought about last night.

"O my god. Since when have you become such a woman? I haven't seen you this moochy since Chelsy." Recieving a playful slap from his wife, the future king of England shut up.

"Will! Let him! Tell me about her!" Kate asked eagerly, placing her head in her hands.

"It's too soon for that, we haven't even kissed. It was a first date last night so there's nothing to tell." Harry shuffled their questions away with his hands, chewing on his bread.

"You mean to tell me, you haven't even kissed and you're already smitten?" William questioned seriously. He knew his brother better than anyone, he didn't fall in love quickly. It used to take fifteen shags before he'd walk around with that grin on his face.

"Look, we get along really well. Nothing's forced. She's really funny and pretty."

"What's her name?" William asked, quickly glancing at his wife, she too comprehended the seriousness of this situation. People always think that Harry didn't open up about his love life towards William but nothing was further from the truth. William was the only one Harry trusted on this information. He always gave his brother advice. Harry had always been jealous of William and Kate their relationship, he wanted to have that with someone.

"Eveline."

"Oh! Fancy name!" Catherine spoke, grinning. "Your royal highness, Eveline, duchess of Sussex. Has a ring to it, doesn't it?" Kate spoke teasingly.

"Shut up, Kate." Harry grumbled, ignoring his brothers laugh.

"No seriously though, where did you meet?" William asked, intrigued.

"She's a nurse working with children in St Thomas, I met her there on an engagement." He purposely left out the fact that she had cursed him out.

"Oh that's nice! What did she think of you? Love at first sight?" Catherine sighed, recieving an odd glance from her husband. "What? I need some romance in my life!"

"You married a prince for godssake." William replied.

"Oh sush, get over yourself, we get it." Kate giggled at her husband. "Harry, go on."

"No not love at first sight, she thought I was Ed Sheeran." Harry mumbled, hoping his brother wouldn't hear. He'd have a field day.

Unfortunately for Harry, William did hear and nearly choked on his tea from laughter. "It's not funny Will."

"Oh but it is!" William laughed even more seeing his brother pissed off at him. "Okay okay, what happened next? She asked you for concert tickets?" Harry didn't reply, he couldn't because laughter was taking over the dining room. He watched as the couple in front of him high fived each other at the remark and rolled his eyes.

"Yeah yeah, you laugh it off. I'm leaving." With that Harry left the table. He didn't really care because at the end of the day, he already had another date with Evee planned on monday.
