Chapter Ten

After two beers at Eveline her apartment, they finally made it to a little pub near Holland park. It was everything a normal pub should look like, cosy and dark. The dark wooden interior was perfect for Harry, who's grey cap was planted firmly over his head.

Entering the space, no one but the owner seemed to notice them. James, the security guy that now did not look like a security guy (he put on a extra large hoodie), followed quietly.

The owner briefly nodded at the both of them. From the exchange, Evee knew that this probably wasn't Harry's first time in here. They picked a booth in a corner, not far away from another door (which Evee noticed wasn't used by the public, only the owner). Harry pointed his hand towards the bench, "I think this will be a good spot."

Evee saw him and James make a mental conversation in their minds as in the end, James finally sat down a few tables from them, having full overview of the pub. Evee slit down the wooden bench and she noticed Harry doing the same, closing her in between him and a wall. "Closing me in already?" Evee spoke teasingly.

He returned her question with a grin, rubbing his ginger beard. "Just making sure you're not taking off."

"Me? Leaving a pub before twelve? Never."

"Do you go out a lot then?" He chuckled and asked with a genuine voice.

Evee watched a waiter approached their table. They politely asked for another two beers. "Define a lot." She spoke, turning her upperbody towards him.

"I don't know a couple times a week?" Harry didn't want her to point her out, let alone feel like she was under him but he couldn't help himself, he wanted to know her. It wasn't that he did not trust her, he trusted her well enough to take her on a date. He knew she wasn't impressed by his status and he admired her for it. It was a relief. He liked that he had to work his way around her. She was an honest person, he could sense that but yet, he had a feeling he had not seen the best of her yet.

"Do I like to have a drink with my mates? Yes, I like having fun. Maybe once or twice a week." Evee replied thoughtful. She obviously didn't want to point out the fact that a lot of times, she would wake up on her floor. She didn't know him well enough to open up about that yet. Plus he was a prince, a real one. She was sure her drunken escapades weren't ladylike. Not that she ever was a lady.

"You should have fun. You only live once." The waiter quickly made his way back to the table, carrying two large pints. He placed them on the table, nodding his head at both of them. Evee smiled timidly, mumbling a thanks.

"Yeah I know, I have a good set of friends. Do you go out a lot?"

"Well I try but it can be quite hard." He spoke, wrapping his hands around his pint.

"I can imagine. Can I ask you something?" Evee spoke, squinting her eyes in the dark. She took his handwaving and his cheeky grin as a sign to continue. "Do you like it, being a prince?" Evee threw her hands in the air and did the quote sign as she spoke the prince word in a hushed voice.

Harry on the other hand threw back his head as he laughed, "Do I like being a 'prince'?" He copied her quote sign. "I've never been anything else. So I'm not sure how to answer that question, really." He spoke thoughtfully.

"Wait let me rephrase it, do you ever wish you could be normal?"

"Auwtch, these questions keep on getting better and better." Harry grinned.

"You know what I mean." Evee spoke chuckling as she playfully slapped his upperarm.

"And harassing a prince while you're at it, bad points." If Evee wasn't certain he was joking around, she probably would have cursed at herself but seeing how laidback Harry really was made her even more intrigued.

"Should I be scared now? That you'll call your nan and behead me or something?" She grinned taking another sip from her beer.

Harry laughed, "No, we're not allowed to do that anymore."

"Ah well, when I first met you I thought for a moment I was going to jail. With the way I cursed and yelled at you at the hospital."

His blue eyes made contact with her green ones and in the dimmed light, she couldn't help but think how handsome he really was.

Maybe it was because his ginger head didn't stand out that much...

No.

She liked his hair.

And the scruffy beard.

She couldn't wait to wrap her hands in it.

Wait. What?

Stay focused, Evee. Goddammit.

"When did you actually realise it was me?" Harry questioned, his eyes taking in every inch of her face. He really thought her skin was flawless. Like a porcelain doll.

He smiled as she laughed, shaking her head. "Well, after Janice cursed at me for having a black eye that day and I told her it wasn't a big deal. She kind of said it was a big deal because we had a royal visit. She mentioned something about it two weeks beforehand but it totally slipped my mind." Evee couldn't tell the prince she wasn't actually listening when Janice had rambled through the meeting about some visit because at that time, she was actually deciding what she wanted for dinner that night.

"Were you disappointed it wasn't Will then?"

"Will? Your brother? No. I didn't really care for the visit. I mean, it is great that you bring awareness towards the hospital and all that but It honestly took me a while to connect the dots. I don't really know your family that well. Is that weird?" She carefuly spoke.

"No. It's good. I like that." He smiled. "So you don't know a lot about me then?"

"Honestly? Not a lot no. I remember some mayhem about some costume in the newspaper when I lived at home and I kind of know who your grandmother is. Oh! And I know who Kate is!" Evee was getting prouder of herself at the minute.

She knew Kate. Well not knew knew but she knew who she was. Eveline always thought she was gorgeous. Beautiful and sophisticated. Everything she wasn't. Evee knew she wasn't ugly but she was far from royal dropdead gorgeousness and sophistication.

"You kind of know my grandmother?" Harry laughed, "That's amazing. And that costume was not one of my finer moments."

"Ah well, young, reckless and the world's watching every step. I can imagine how hard it is to trust someone. Things happen, the past is the past." Evee nodded her head, smiling as she saw the relief fall off his face.

"Yes. It is incredibly difficult to trust people."

Eveline couldn't help but wonder. She just had to ask, the question was burning her lips. "Why do you trust me?"

"What?" Harry replied with a confused expression.

"Why do you trust me? You don't know me. We barely spoke two sentences before you asked me on this date. I'm sure you could have anyone with a snap of your fingers." She spoke truthfuly, her eyes never leaving his.

"That's the point. I don't want just anyone. I like it that you're not flabbergasted with me. I'm willing to bet a lot of money that you didn't even google me once."

"Well no but I-" She was quickly interupted.

"There's not a lot of people in this country who haven't googled me. Or not seen my bare naked arse on the internet."

"You're naked on the internet?!" Eveline spoke with genuine shock. Now she really wanted to google him.

"Great, you didn't know that. Good one, Harry." He mumbled to himself.

"God, I have to tell you, I'm very eager to add myself on the list of people googling your naked pictures." She laughed.

Harry was surprised Eveline took it so well. "Please don't." He chuckled.

"How did that one go with your nan?" Evee tried holding back her laughter. She knew it probably was hell for him when the pictures came out. She knew it was selfish to laugh. But she couldn't help but admire that damn rascal. At one point in life, she was sure everyone had bad partypictures or even their naked arses planted on the internet but just because he was a prince, people had to drag him through the mud. Yet here he sits, with her, charming, characterful and he had the ability to laugh at himself. Evee knew she had to reoppinionate about him. He was not the stuck up prince she thought he was. He was clever and he had wit. She admired him, really.

"Let's just say, if she could have cut off my balls right there, she would have." Evee had just taken a sip from her beer as he replied, 'causing her to try holding back her laughter but failing in the end.

Great there was beer coming through her nose. "O god." She watched him laughing at her from the corner of her eyes as she tried to take a napkin and clean herself up. "Did I mention how much of a lady I am?" She spoke, lifting one eyebrow at him.

"I can see that by the way there's still beer coming out of your nose, yes." He laughed, handing her another napkin.

"Asshole" She said the word without thinking too much. She was scared she crossed the line but was relieved when she saw him grin at her, shaking his head.

"Can I ask you something?" Harry spoke, turning his body towards her. She was sitting just a few inches from him, if he watched to he could just put his hand over hers. He could place his hand over her knee. He wanted to. He wanted to touch her. Her scent had been driving him up the wall since he stepped into her apartment. Roses and strawberries. He couldn't. It was too soon. He didn't know her that well, but god he wanted to know her.

"Sure." Her green eyes searched through his as she thought she could hint a sense of desire.

"You obviously didn't come on this date because I'm just a prince." He imitated her early antics when she airquotted at the word prince. Evee couldn't help but roll her eyes at him, holding back a smile. "Why did you then?"

"The way you handled Maja. One of my patients." She replied genuinely. Ever since she saw the man kiss the little girl's hand at the hospital she was intrigued. Eveline knew she wouldn't ask him out because of it. There are plenty of people who are good with kids. Even after seeing him with Maja, she did not want to go to the polo match. Not because of Harry really (well she had to admit she was ashamed of herself because of the Ed Sheeran thing) but mainly because she didn't like the richness vibe. But Evee had to admit, she knew there was something different about him from that moment he made Maja smile. He was good with kids.

"That's weird." Harry replied.

"Why?"

"That's the exact reason I wanted to ask you out. When I saw you doing a pinky swear with the girl, you sparked my interest."

Evee smiled, "Pinky promises are a very big deal to us."

Harry grinned, his eyes twinkling. "I can imagine."
