Chapter Sixty Seven

The couple had managed to turn their phones off for the upcoming week. It had been quite hard for Harry, since the palace wanted to be able to reach him if anything where to happen. He honestly didn't care at the moment, he was quite enjoying their quiet time. He knew the palace had the address information of the lodge and told the owners to only transfer calls to the room if necessary.

Evee still had to get used to the feeling of her engagement ring wrapped around her finger. She was absolutely mortified that she would lose it. Everytime she took a shower, she carefully placed it on her nightstand with great caution. Trying not to leave it alone for too long, she placed her head outside the bathroom a couple of times to make sure it was still lying on the nightstand when she was actually showering. "It's not going anywhere, sweety." Harry chuckled at her anxious face.

"I know, I'm still scared to death I'll lose it though." She spoke, entering the bedroom with only a towel wrapped around her wet body.

"If it makes you feel better, I am quite scared you might lose it as well."

"Thanks a lot Harry, that makes me feel so much better." She rolled her eyes at him when she placed the ring around her finger carefully. Harry playfully smirked at her. He was lying on the bed, one arm tucked behind his head. "I can't even believe it's our last day. It kind of feels like this is all a dream."

"I know, I feel the same." He mumbled, wrapping his arms around her as she planted herself next to him on the bed.

"What happens now?" She idly wondered, thinking about everybody at home. She knew that when she would turn on her phone, she would have a hundred of messages from everybody. She was actually quite certain 80% would be from Chloe.

Harry turned around in the bed, laying on his right side to face her. "Well, first of all the palace will probably be a little mad at me for not calling to tell them if we're engaged or not. They knew I was going to ask."

"Your brother and father knew?" She raised her eyebrows. Thinking about it, it wasn't that much of a surprise, Harry did share quite a lot with his family.

"Kate helped me pick out the ring, of course they knew." He watched as her eyes captivated the beauty on her left ring finger once again.

"Remind me to thank her for that." The blonde grinned, she was absolutely in love with her engagement ring. Evee didn't think she would have been able to pick out something better herself.

"My grandmother knows."

"She knows?!"

"That I was going to propose? Of course she does, I'm not crazy. I wouldn't ask you to marry me without consulting her." Oh god, Queen Elizabeth had given her approval of their engagement. Even thinking about it made it quite absurd. "I told you she liked you." Harry spoke.

Slowly nodding her head, she tried to let the words sink in. Hey boyfriend's grandmother was the Queen of England. He was a prince. He was a god damn prince. She was going to marry a prince. How did that happen?! What would she be then? "What will I be, you know, when we get married? Would I still be Evee then?" She mumbled, a little bit embarrassed about her question.

"You'll always be Evee to me." He scanned her face, tucking a strand of lose hair behind her ear. "But my grandmother will give me a dukedom, making you a duchess and then you would become Her Royal Highness Duchess of whatever my grandmother assigns. You would automatically become a princess by marrying me. Princess Henry of Wales or Princess of whichever Dukedom my gran would give me."

"Princess Henry of Wales?" Evee never imagined in a million years she would ever be a princess. Or a duchess. She didn't even know the difference between the two of them to be totally honest. She didn't dare to ask Harry either.

"Yes, that's kind of how it goes in Great Britain, I'm quite sorry about that." He chuckled at her. Unless the monarch makes the wives princesses in their own right, legally, they would always take the name of their husbands.

"That's alright." She sighed, smiling into his blue eyes. "Did you ask my father, by the way?"

Harry chuckled, "Of course I did, I don't want him to kill me. He was really emotional."

"I can imagine that. When did you go up to him?" Evee questioned, she was surprised that she didn't suspect anything even though she knew of the proposal.

"When I told you I had to go meet with my grandmother in Balmoral, in March."

"Cheeky." She grinned, wrapping her arm around his waist as they both were still lying down in bed. "What are our plans for tomorrow and the days afterwards?"

"We will probably have a couple of meetings to release the press statement of our engagement. We will need to agree on a date. Not particular but just which month." He carefully informed her.

"Can we- Do we have to get married fast?" She was a little scared to ask that question. "I would really just like some time to adjust to everything, honestly."

"We can get married whenever you like. Of course not in ten years, but still, if you want to have a long engagement, that's fine by me." He mumbled, understanding where she was coming from. They had only been together for a year, he didn't want to pressure her into anything. He was already content that she actually agreed on becoming his wife in the first place.

"What about March fourth 2018? We're almost May and I feel like September is the last appropriate month before it really gets cold and rainy outside... Four months is a little too soon for me. I don't want people to stand in the cold either." She muttered.

"March Fourth 2018 sounds perfect, Evee."

"I like that date." She nodded her head, giving him a smile.

He remembered how her cellphone code was '0403' and grinned in reply, "I do too." He didn't really know how to say the next part, he wasn't sure how she would react. He knew she loved her job. "There's another thing I wanted to talk to you about."

She looked up at him, he had a troubled expression on his face. "The fact that you're now engaged to me would mean that from now on, they would expect you to take part in royal duties. Which means that, you would have to give up your job and also move in with me." Harry knew he was asking a lot of her. "You can actually build up some fundraisers yourself, help the children out in another way. You wouldn't be just shaking hands and smiling at everybody."

Slowly Evee nodded her head, "The last thing I want to be is a trophy wife."

"I know that." He spoke. She tried her best not to cry but couldn't ignore the lump in her throat either. She had to leave the children, it was her main purpose in life, to help them. She had always loved the atmosphere her colleagues brought along. Oh crap, she had to leave Chloe at work. She wouldn't be able to work with her ever again. Evee could feel her eyes getting teary. "I'm so sorry, sweety." She heard him softly speak, pulling her closer to his chest.

"I promise you that we'll make a difference for the hospital and the children, okay? You can do so many things. I promise you that you'll still be able to make those kids smile. It'll just be a little more... Well grand... But I know you'll still be their Evee."

She tried wiping her tears, "I know. When would I have to resign?"

"As soon as the press statement is out... We can make the palace do that for you though."

"No, I want to do it myself. I want to do it before the press knows so I can tell them myself. I don't want them to take pictures of me leaving the hospital in a blubbering mess." She mumbled.

"I understand." Harry nodded his head. "I know the upcoming week will be really hard for you." He stroked her blonde wet hair.

"It's fine." She sniffled, "I have you in return, right?"

"I wish I could say that makes me feel better. I already feel guilty as it is."

"Don't feel guilty. Like you said, I can do a lot of things."

"Let's just take one thing at the time, right? You'll have your own security from now on as well." He gently spoke. "It's too dangerous without it." For that Harry was glad, he held his heart many times when he saw the pictures in the newspapers of paparazzi following her around on her own.

"Can I pick him out myself? He has to be at least somewhat handsome." The nurse cheekily spoke, enjoying pushing his buttons a little.

"Nope, I'll be doing the picking, you cheeky wench." He grinned, placing his hands on either side of her stomach to tickle her.

"No- hahaha- Harry! Stop! Hahaha! Can I atleast be there when you pick him out?"

"Evee! It's not the bachelor! They won't come in the room so you and Chloe can score them a number out of ten!"

"We would have a lot of fun though." She laughed at him.

"I know you would have."

"I'd like to think that we'd be qualified enough to pick out some security guy."

"I doubt that. You need someone who's trustable and won't talk to the press after years of collaboration. It's not as easy as it sounds, people do a lot of things in exchange for money." Harry spoke, taking on a serious tone. "Tomorrow we'll fly home, then we can visit our family and have a meeting about the press statement. The upcoming days will be really busy. Get ready for a lot of interviews and some photoshoots."

"Interviews and photoshoots?!"

"They'll want an interview real quick to show off the ring after the press release."

"But- but I don't know what to wear! I don't have anything to wear, Harry." Evee panicked.

"Sweety, that's a problem that's far in the past right now. You'll have your own stylist, it'll be fine." Her own stylist? "As soon as we land, people will be coming over to measure up your size."

"I knew I shouldn't have eaten that dessert buffet." She mumbled, already regretting her eating habbits on the journey, ignoring Harry's laughter.
