Chapter Seventy Three
It was on Saturday that the famous couple had their engagement shoot. Evee wanted it to be as casual as possible, she didn't like the stiff photographs she had seen from other royals. She knew there were certain things that she didn't control, definitely not when you're marrying a prince but she did want something to say. The way she looked today was something she had chosen herself. She wanted the photographs to be as genuine as possible, portraying how they both were in real life.
Careless, free and genuine.
She liked the way she looked in her white summer dress, the way that they braided her hair in a special way. She liked how her engagement ring (all three of them) matched her style.
"Let's take a few pictures from the top up." Evee knew what she had to do. Harry's arm was firmly wrapped around her neck, her head in the crook of his shoulder. She placed her left hand on top of his chest and give the camera a genuine smile.
She could feel him breathing down her neck, even though she didn't see his expression. "Let us all pray that I don't have any sweat stains on this shirt. I'm so hot." Evee heard him mumble, standing in the sun.
She laughed, throwing back her head as the photographer kept clicking his camera. "I don't smell anything. I'm sure they can Photoshop it out." She giggled, adverting her eyes up at him as he looked down with a smirk.
"Those are good ones guys! They look great!" The photographer yelled.
"I didn't even realize we were still shooting." Evee mumbled, listening to the man with half an ear. "Can we take a couple lying on the grass?" She questioned, she didn't care that they wouldn't use them in the press, she wanted a couple of private ones as well. "I'll try not to stain the dress."
The photographer adverted his eyes to the main press publicist who just shrugged and nodded his head. "Okay let sit you both down."
"Sit with me." Evee grinned, already planting her ass on the green grass of Kensington Gardens. She tucked on his wrist, pulling him down.
"Scoot a bit closer, will you? You look like you're scared of me." Harry teased.
"Well, with your sweat pools on your armpits, I'm not sure if I want to." Evee smirked, sticking out her tongue. The photographer couldn't help but chuckle at the prince his expression. He even had to admit that they were a fun couple to be around.
Harry in reply lifted his arms to check. "I'm just kidding, you idiot." The blonde laughed, sitting closer towards Harry who in reply gave her a little push. "Ai! Did you get that on camera, Dan? The public won't be happy with that, you know! 'Prince assaults fiancée!'" Evee threatened as a joke.
She threw her head back in laughter as Harry wrapped his arm around her neck. The photographer in the meantime tried to take as many pictures as possible. "Right guys, let's be serious for a minute. Harry, please look at her and Evee, you can look at me with that smile." Dan instructed, laying himself down on the grass to get a good angle.
Evee nodded her head, trying not to laugh. She could feel Harry putting his head on hers as they both looked up at the camera. He put wrapped his arms around her waist as she covered her left hand around his upperarm, making sure the ring could be seen. "Good! Good! Love it guys! I think we have a winner!". They tried holding back laughter as the photographer clicked away. "It's a wrap!"
The blonde smiled, taking Harry's hand as he offered to help her back on her feet. "Can we see them?" She questioned the older man, who was now staring down at the Nikon camera.
"Sure." Harry and her stepped behind the camerascreen, she felt him wrap his arm around her shoulders. "This is actually one of my favorites." Evee looked down, staring at the picture. It was a shot the man had taken when they sat down on the grass. She was laughing at Harry and he looked at her with loving eyes. Her hand was wrapped around his bicep and his arms were curved around her waist.
Harry nodded her head, "I like that one as well." He still couldn't believe how he managed to strike a woman like that. Staring at the pictures, he had to let it sink in once again. She looked absolutely breathtaking. He hadn't even looked at himself, his eyes were captivated by the blonde laughing at him.
"It's a really genuine picture. I think the public will like this. I'll send these pictures through and I'll see what I can do." The photographer nodded his head at the attractive couple.
"Thank you by the way, they're really lovely." Evee smiled, shaking the man's hand.
"You're welcome. It was great working with you two." He smiled.
Harry shook his hand and patted his shoulder, "Yes, thank you. They're wonderful. Evee, we should probably get going." He smiled at his fiancée, knowing that his brother was waiting for them both. Evee was glad when the shoot was done. She had a lot of fun with Harry but posing for three hours to just take one good picture was getting a little tiring. She never really enjoyed posing for pictures, she rather preferred to take them herself.
Nodding her head, she followed Harry's footsteps, he shook hands with everyone that worked on the shoot. She smiled at every single one of them, thanking them individually. She followed Harry inside, "I actually wanted to talk to you about something." He swiftly turned around and looked her in the eye. "In regards of Trouping of Colour."
Evee slowly nodded her head, she knew it would eventually come up. It was still a couple of weeks until June 10th but Kate had spoken about it towards her. It would be her first official appearance at Harry's side. Evee knew that it was to celebrate his grandmother's birthday, she knew that there would be a big festivity in London.
There would thousands of military men walking the pavements of the London streets in honor of the Queen. She'd have to sit in one of the carriages and wave at everybody. The merely thought already gave her cramps. Harry noticed the slight nervous expression on his fiancee's face. "You'll be fine, sweety, you just have to wave and be pretty. I'll be by your side."
"I know that." She mumbled, burying her head in his shoulder, smelling his cologne. It always managed to calm her down.
"I know you're terrified but I'm actually really excited." He grinned, placing a kiss on top of her forehead.
"Of course you are, you won't be the only single anymore." She mumbled, trying to hold back laughter. "I mean sharing a carriage with your stepmother and sister in law alone is a little sad now, isn't it?" She teased, knowing how to push his buttons.
"Oh, I'm not excited about that. I'm excited about you wearing, what do you call it, 'silly hat'." Evee took a step back, looking him in the eye. She could see how he was holding back laughter.
"I have to wear a hat?"
"It's called a fascinator by the way." He grinned, showing off the gap in between in his front teeth. Evee thought he looked adorable. "And yes, preferably with a lot of feathers." Harry bit his cheek and tried not to burst out laughing.
"You're fucking lucky that I love you, you know." She mumbled, ignoring the way he tossed his head back and laughed at her expression.
"I've been waiting for that day for so long." He shook his head.
"I swear to god if you keep teasing me throughout the whole damn day..." She could imagine it already, him whispering stupid punch lines in her ears as she tried to keep the smile steady on her face, waving her hands at the crowd.
"I wouldn't dare." She could see the familiar twinkle in his eye.
"Whatever. I know I'll be rocking those feathers." She pushed him away, rolling her eyes.
"Of course you will." He grinned, not wanting to push too many buttons.
"I've never asked, what do you actually have to wear on our wedding?" Evee questioned, she knew he couldn't wear a normal suit. She was curious after watching William and Kate's wedding.
"My military uniform. What will you wear?" He cheekily grinned.
"I don't know, probably a lot of feathers." She raised her eyebrow at him.
"You wouldn't. My grandmother would kill you." He laughed.
Evee smiled and took a serious note, "No, I wouldn't."
"Have you been thinking about the dress?" Harry wondered, he knew the wedding was still ten months away but he couldn't help but wonder what his future wife would look like. He knew Evee would look stunning.
"They've approached me to look at a couple of designers, yes." Evee answered, thinking about the various options and portfolios she had received. They wanted her to look through them, at least to pick a designer that she liked. They wanted to start the process as soon as possible.
"And?"
"I still haven't picked anyone out. It's quite difficult." She mumbled, she honestly didn't want a big designer. She wanted a small company that would confident her. A designer she would be able to meet up with one on one, someone that made her feel comfortable. "I'm thinking about going with someone that isn't well known. I don't know. I guess, I just want to help someone make a carrier or something. Do I sound stupid?"
Harry raised his eyebrows at her, he knew her well enough to know that she wasn't the Chanel type of girl. Evee didn't care about big names. "No, you should pick someone you're comfortable with. I like that, just make sure they're professional enough to do the job."
She nodded her head, "I know, I've been talking to Anna about it." Anna was her main stylist, the woman carried a whole team behind her. She was the one who stuck all the portfolios in Evee's hand. The nurse trusted Anna because she was quite involved in the process of Kate's dress as well. "There are just so many things to think of."
"We still have a while you know, just take it easy. One step at the time." Harry smiled, "We have a whole team backing us up, we'll be fine."
"Can't we just go to Mexico and get married there and eat a lot of tacos." She mumbled, remembering how he teased her about that when they just started going out.
"Didn't you say you'd have the runs a lot?" He grinned.
"Didn't you say your grandmother would kill us?" She shot back, grinning back at him.
"I think Britain would kill us."
"Chloe would probably be the first, leading the pack with torches and a pitchfork."
"You'll have to teach her how to compose at the wedding though. Something tells me she's going to lose her mind walking next to my brother."
"I actually have been thinking about doing a couple of tequila shots before leaving towards St- Pauls."
It was only one thing that was certain and it was that Harry and Evee would get married at St Pauls. Evee herself had visited the cathedral even before she knew Harry and she thought it was absolutely gorgeous. The dome standing proudly in the middle of the London streets always managed to take her breath away. Harry told her how the place had a special place in his heart as well, his parents got married there. He also thought it was more convenient, it fit the couple more.
They didn't have to think twice. The whole team behind the wedding was glad that at least two important decisions were already made, the date and place. Friday March Second and St Pauls Cathedral.
"Is it bad that I'm thinking about doing that myself as well?" Harry grinned.
"No. It's why we're so compatible." Evee smirked.
"Two compulsive drunks?"
"Two compulsive, very much in love drunks." She corrected him, wrapping her hands around his neck and bringing his lips down towards her. She would never get tired of kissing him.
