Chapter Nine

Evee wasn't sure what to wear and she wasn't planning on breaking her head about it. She did not have any expectations. She couldn't remember if Harry had said where they would be going so she just went for a casual look. Some grey non ripped jeans with a denim long sleeved shirt. She didn't know why but for the first time on her life, Eveline was ready on time. She had cleaned her apartment the whole damn afternoon, something Evee only did when absolutely necessary.

Even though Eveline had a calm exterrior, she couldn't help but be a little nervous. She tried to get the fact that he was a prince out of her head, she really wanted to see him as a normal guy. Which she was sure, he personally was. But she had to face the facts, the prince came with a lot of bagage. Somehow she knew, she'd have a good time, she just had to get over her own ego and give the guy a chance. Cursing herself was useless, she did not have the prince's number to cancel the date, nor if she would have it, Evee wasn't sure if she'd have the heart to cancel it. If it was one thing she remembered of their conversation (she didn't remember a lot but that she did), it was how genuinely happy Harry had been when she said yes. Almost as he hadn't expected it. It made Evee wonder if she was that unapproachable for men.

Probably.

She was aware that she had a big character, she was always the first to be honest, she had always been the loudest, even when she was a little girl. Her parents always told her if she had been the first born, she wouldn't have had any siblings. Her older brother Alexander, was the shy one. She was the rascal, the violent one. In her schooltime, she had approximately two detentions every week and she knew the principals office by heart.

She always had a lot of friends though. She was friends with every stereotype in school. Evee got along with the preps as well with the emos. She was quite a popular girl. Somehow, people never wanted to not get a long with her. She still wasn't sure if that was because people actually liked her or if they were just scared.

She didn't care really.

She didn't care what people thought or said about her. Which she had always thought was a good thing.

Eveline grabbed an apple from her fruitbowl, she didn't think she already had the stomach to eat a heavy meal. Sitting on her brown sofa, Evee stared ahead of her. She had a date.

A date with a prince.

Harry.

She liked the way she spoke his name so natural.

She wondered if that was his real name. Maybe he had fourteen names.

She considered quickly typing his name into google but decided against it.

No. She wouldn't google him. That was rule number one.

Altough, with other guys she always checked their facebooks first... Harry probably didn't have one. Maybe I should google him, it's pretty much the same as facebook... She thought, biting her lip.

No! You cannot. You'll just get scared when you realise how famous he really is.

But shouldn't you prepare? You don't even realise what you're getting into.

I'm not getting into anything! I am having one drink. One! Eveline convinced herself.

Evee's mental battle was interrupted by a knock on her door. Oh god, she wasn't sure she was ready for this. She whiped her sweaty handpalms onto her thighs and stretched her legs. She hurriedly opened the door, she didn't want the prince to draw any attention in the hallway.

She expected a lot of things of Harry but she didn't realise he could look so handsome in casual clothing. He stood in her hallway in jeans and a rolled up sleeved shirt with a smile on his face. "Hi."

Her eyes immediately adverted towards the big muscled guy behind him. "Hello..." Evee spoke with hesitation.

Harry noticed her discomfort, "Uhm, I'm really sorry but this is protocol... Do you mind if James took a quick look around?"

"Look around where?" Eveline spoke dumbfound, still blocking the doorway.

"In your apartment..." The prince replied a little awkward. He was actually quite embarressed. He just wanted a normal date but somehow being a prince fucked that up, once again.

Evee quickly dragged her eyes from James to Harry. "Uhm yes sorry, stupid me. Go right ahead." She quickly stepped away from the doorway, letting both men enter. James took off immediately, she saw him entering her bedroom. Wait. "He's going in my bedroom?" She spoke, a little agitated.

"I'm really sorry about this Eveline, I've tried to keep him home but he wouldn't budge. This will only happen once, I promise. Next time no security. It's just to make sure everything's safe."

Wait. Next time?!

"Do you really think I have bombs in my knickerdraw or something?" She was a little irritated but Eveline knew by the look on Harry's face that this wasn't his choice. He looked deeply embarressed. She quickly added a chuckle behind her sentence, trying to calm the guy's nerves and making sure they didn't take the bomb thing too serious.

Harry smiled back at her, "You have a nice place though." They stepped closer into Evee's livingroom.

Evee laughed at that, "Says the guy who lives in a palace."

"Ah yes well, I can appreciate the smaller things in life." His smile reached his blue eyes. "I brought something I hope you will appreciate." He lifted his left hand. Evee immediately recognized a few rare Belgian beers.

Her mouth fell open, "You are amazing. How the hell did you get those?"

"A little special bird." He grinned. He handed over the six beers.

"Tell that bird thank you then." Things were getting a little awkward now. She didn't really know how to act around him. Should she hug him as a thank you? Kiss his cheek? Bow her head? "Seriously I appreciate this. I'm just going to put these in the fridge, come." She grinned, turning around and walking towards her kitchen.

"Did you have to work today?" Harry spoke casually. He noticed James exiting the apartment in the corner of his eyes. They were finally alone. Somehow he felt at instant ease.

"No, I don't have to work until tuesday, thank god." She wanted to add the hangover part but decided against it. Maybe Harry wouldn't have noticed her drunkness on the phone, and if he did he certainely didn't mention it.

"Rough night last night?" He grinned, Evee could see the twinkle in his blue eyes. So much for not mentioning it.

"Like you didn't notice that on the phone." She rolled her eyes playfuly. "Want a drink? I have some wine if you like." Eveline didn't think the prince was used to beer.

"I'd like to have a beer if you have one."

"As if you have to ask that." Evee couldn't help but grin. She quickly grabbed two Stellas from her fridge. "When the ones you've brought are cooled enough, we can drink those." She passed the beer towards the ginger standing in her kitchen.

"You're willing to share those with me?" He grinned, taking a sip from his beer.

Eveline tried not to stare as his lips wrapped themselves around the bottle. Quickly adverting her eyes towards her own bottle, she answered his question with a smile. "I'm sure you know the finer things in life already, but this, your royal highness, is something else. Am I willing to share Belgians finest with you? Absolutely." She teasingly spoke.

"It's your royal highness now, eh? What happened to Ed Sheeran?"

She felt her cheeks flush. "Ah well, he's not really my cup of tea." She actually wanted to scream that he was ten times more handsome but she didn't want to come across as desperate.

"Gingers not really your thing then?" Evee couldn't help but notice their full on flirting mode. It was absolutely ridiculous.

She scrunched up her nose, "Maybe after a couple of beers."

Eveline had a hard time keeping in her laughter when she saw Harry's shocked face. "But if I had to be honest, if someone would ask me what Harry Potter character's my favorite, I would choose Ronald Weasley." She winked, placing the beer bottle around her lips and taking a sip.
